[Merged] Cultural Human T3 Not Exclusive
I dont understand how underboob is more innapropriate than cleavage. Please explain.

Regardless of how polarized the community regarding the issue is, people still do appreciate the current T3 upgrade so I’m still hopeful that they will still reintroduce the set eventually. It’ll be a waste not to bring back such a good design (imho).
But it wasn’t a HT3 upgrade or it would have been marketed as such. It was a reskin with flames sold as a armor skin set on the gem store. It wasn’t labeled , “Human T3 Upgarde.”. In turn many HT3 owners asked to have it removed to maintain the integrity of their armor. IMO it wasn’t so much about that but that it was because it was HT3 that looked cooler. I would bet if Anet had said all HT3 owners would get the skin all this, “but it’s only for humans!” crying would have stopped.
You don’t get both. HT3 owners wanted it removed for the “integrity” of their armor. It will be gone and that will be the end if it. I’ve seen several posts across forums with, “Now can we have it?”. Sorry, no.
I have the current Flamekissed on my human as I type and I love it. I’m waiting to see what the revamp looks like and if it will indeed be, " something special" as was claimed. When the change occurs I’ll decide what I want and truly hope I like the new one better. However, you can’t say, “Get rid of it! But wait! It’s cool so give it to me later.”
Once it is gone if it comes back in some other fashion it will start a whole new mess and seriously anger those who bought it in the first place.
Hmm, we’ll see. It’s a matter of opinion anyway, and mine is that they shouldn’t just trash the whole thing coz I like it, and will really want to get it again somehow and I’m sure others do as well.

If you are offended by the human body it does not mean the rest of us are.. Maybe OP thinks a certain way and becasue of that he/she was taught. I respect your right to think like you do OP now respect my right to disagree with you. The armor skin is well inside political and socially accept norms in America.

Give it time. Its a bit of fun while its lasting though.
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?
OP, why did you single out female armor when there is male armor in this game that Is much more revealing? If you are so concerned about modesty, immaturity and purity then why didn’t you concern yourself with the male armor also? Why is it always women who are the object of calls for censorship and judgmental remarks when they are wearing armor that is less revealing than the male armor?
Whether or not female breasts are acceptable to be shown in public is a cultural decision. Western culture has decided that the male breast area and nipples are ok to show while women’s are not. There are other cultures in the world where showing female breasts is or was not considered “impure”. Minoan women for example wore clothing that exposed their breasts. Women in many tribes wear nothing above the waist. Neither of these are considered “impure” or “immature”.
To be blunt, it’s hypocrisy to single out female armor and call it immature, impure and immodest while ignoring male armor that shows more of the same area.

It says a lot about the game that you can find bras, underboob and bikini armor for female characters but not simple pants. No, not the harem pants. Not the stocking “pants” with the frilly skirt. Just regular pants.
No frills, regular cut pants. Can’t get those. Though you can get a bizarre ballroom gown/bikini top armor “set” if you so choose.

Light is largely robes and gowns just like medium is nothing but coats.
The biggest problem I have this armor is that it simply doesn’t live up to the quality I expect of a game. It’s not a stylistic choise, it simply is too far of what I expect a game should present to you. I can not support designers who willingly make you look like you’re working on a street corner.
A simple alteration to the armor would still leave it skimpy, but it’d remove the impure aspect of the armor.
Not buying it doesn’t solve the problem. This is not about me personally buying it.
The level of immaturity that is explicitely adhesive to the design of a showing underboob is one I do not wish to have in a high-standard game.

the human t3 skin is revealing, but some people like it that way. a lot of us actually do. now of course it would be nice having a few other choices but im sure new cultural armor is in planning.

I know. Should’ve clarified I was mainly referring to light armor.
The whole problem is that people find this offensive.
That is not subjective.
You either don’t understand what offensive means, or you don’t understand what subjective means. This is a thread where a person asks for something they don’t like to be removed. Sorry, I can’t agree with that. I give you that some people might feel offended by it, but that’s fine. I’m sure if we took action against everything in our culture that someone felt was offensive, we wouldn’t have very many things left. If it bothers you, simply stay away from it.
OP, it’s painfully obvious that most people are not going to side with your opinion on this. That being said, the armor has been out since release, and a great many people have bought it precisely because of how it currently looks. One person’s opinion is not going to sway ANet into a re-design when so many people want it to stay as it is.

No one makes you look like anything of the sort. You have to choose to wear the armor.
Can’t honestly say I’ve ever seen anyone dressed like that on any streetcorner I’m aware of.
A simple alteration to the armor would still leave it skimpy, but it’d remove the impure aspect of the armor.
Impure aspects like women choosing to allow their face to be seen, or showing some ankle, or wearing clothing that doesn’t completely conceal the shape of their figure ?
Or is it a matter of simply believing that the female form is somehow impure or wrong ?
Not buying it doesn’t solve the problem. This is not about me personally buying it.
The level of immaturity that is explicitely adhesive to the design of a showing underboob is one I do not wish to have in a high-standard game.
It also does not belong to the fantasy world that is Tyria.
The people who own the fantasy world that is Tyria disagree with you about what belongs in the game world. I do not always agree with them, often do not in fact, but unless you are offering to cough up the millions of dollars it would take to buy the game/studio from NCsoft…you don’t get to decide what belongs in the game.
There is nothing inherently (or explicitly) immature about the form of the female body except in that one might not be fully grown and so be physically immature.
The problem is that it really is about your personal opinion of the armor. You call it “impure.” Now, I personally don’t like it myself because having costumed for decades, I’m quite aware of what would happen the moment anyone wearing that got into Thiefly acrobatics. It wouldn’t only be the under part showing! It’s also an odd part of one’s assets to display.
Still, it doesn’t lower the quality. There are a lot of skimpy and a lot of non-skimpy available to suit a range of tastes. The detailing on that armor is a lot better than on some other cultural pieces (I’m still sad my Norn T1 Medium doesn’t have a dye channel on the dress for the trim and tassels, for instance, I think that lowers the quality).
The armor’s well made, you simply disagree with the design choice that went into the chest. Others are going to disagree with you on this. To you it doesn’t belong in Tyria. To me, Tyrians seem to have different cultural norms on what’s appropriate in formal settings from what many Earth societies through history have preferred. Noble humans show a lot of skin. Charr and Norn likewise — well, with Charr it’s fur. Heck, Sylvari put on clothes because it seems the thing to do, not out of any shame.
This is simply a matter of etiquette gone wrong. Overexposure in a way that is inappropriate for the game. There’s a line where something is too trashy, and this one goes over it. It’s no longer professional design to me anymore. It’s a joke.
You can discuss whether or not that is the case, but if it makes people feel like that you’ve got to show compassion towards them. Aside from it being inappropriate as well. It’s just too far beyond the suggestive spectrum.
You’ve never seen the game Scarlet Blade have you ? that games darned near free to play porn . Before you criticize GW for its lack of professionalism in armor design take a look at that game .
Depending on your local area in real life, it is likely socially “questionable” to wear this outfit out on the streets to say the least. You would get a few looks to say the least and even more cat calls. That said, the attire’s risque nature is hardly quantifiable. You can’t measure sexiness, inappropriate content, or any abstract concept objectively. It’s determined by society. A group of people rather than the individual. So far, all the participants in this thread SEEM to think you are being ridiculous, and frankly, you are. The clothing is clearly liked by the large and varied community who play the game. I could cite every post in this thread and then go into Lions Arch for a half hour and spot hundreds who shelled out the money for this particular tier 3 alone. Many nationalities, genders and alignments find the armor suitably tasteful despite it’s inclusion of underboob. Most of those who would shake their head in disapproval in real life, aren’t even part of the audience. You claim that people are offended. Please cite some examples. Bring some people in here who dislike the armor besides yourself. Then you are representing a part of society. Then we can have a intelligent discussion on the pros and cons of this armor, social decency, and free will. Until then all your opinions are simply that.

I loathe the armor. There, now you can have an intelligent discussion. Apparently.
For what it is worth I rather dislike the armor myself. I am not, however, at all offended by it. Being offended is a choice. If someone chooses to be offended by something it is a measure of them not of the thing.
I tend to not like armors that don’t look like they could actually protect the wearer.

Do tell. If you want to contribute to the discussion tell us why you dislike it. Are you with OP? Is it tacky? Too sexy? I have a thread full of people who seem to disagree, so please share your opinion if you really think that you have something to add.
I think my husband really likes that set of armour, at least he’s offered to give me the gold necessary to buy it. I’ve declined the offer, because I do in fact agree that showing underboob is tacky and I have no desire to prance around Tyria with half a boob on public view.
Does that mean I think the armour shouldn’t be in game? Not in the least, seeing others wearing it doesn’t bother me at all – at most it gives me an opportunity to stick my nose in the air and feel superior because I have standards – sticks said nose in the air and wrinkles it delicately
I agree completely with what another poster said: Don’t ask for armour to be removed, ask for more to be added!

I am actually in the same boat myself. Particularly about medium and heavy sets. Exposed midriff seems a bit counter productive, lol. Not worth 119 gold in my opinion, but I have always been fine with those who like it. I don’t feel like it cheapens the experience in my opinion.
I am a woman irl. And this armor does not shock me. By cons I do not find it sexy, but vulgar.
But this is only a game, I do not see the offense here.
me it is rather light armor, below.
I find it a bit too daring, this is no longer the suggestion.
but this is just a game ^ ^

See? These are fair opinions. Expressions of personal taste and distaste. Thanks for sharing.
Why is underboob immature? Personally I find it less mature to have issues exposing normal parts of the human body than it is to want to do so. There’s nothing wrong with the body, people should be proud of it. There is a line to cross and it’s a very subjective one, but I honestly don’t believe this does it. Judging from how popular this armour is, I suspect a lot of other players feel similarly. Some people find raw sensuality empowering (both in game and in real life – historically it has been as powerful a weapon/tool as any other) so for them, this armour is an attractive option. Some people like a bit of eye candy.
Fashion does not dictate morality.
No, but it implies certain morals depending on the style/looks. That is why you have key words addressed to many of clothes; such as “sexy”.
I do agree that the armor makes the character look like a hooker (not solely the under boob’s fault, but it is a huge contributor) but if you want your character to look like that, be my guest.
Trying to say, “Wear whatever you want. It has no effect on how you are seen!”. Is rather… unwise. I would recommend watching the Chappelle stand up comedy where he does a skit about clothing and uniforms. It is pretty spot on.
Everyone has their own opinions. The devs are not being “immature” by creating this armor. They are more or less satisfying the group of people who like this stuff. The armor itself isn’t that bad. In fact, I know many who complain there aren’t skimpier armors. Just live and let live. Denying options to others in an MMO just because of your own pet-peeves is being immature. Suck it up and deal with it. It’s not as horrible as one may think.
I can not support designers who willingly make you look like you’re working on a street corner.
It’s already getting quite toxic in here because all of you seem to get the wrong impression of what I am expressing.
Right out of the gate. It was quite clear what you were trying to express. Quality wasn’kitten You can try some other words, but “you look like you’re working on a street corner” is going to over shadow that.
Why is this thread up again?
Your personal morality cannot dictate a game played by millions of other people who obviously do not share the same stance as you for the most part.
Sorry. Go away.

Also, feel free to suggest more armor variations but don’t ruin for people that liked and have made efforts and investments in getting the armor.
Many people have reported this thread already. A Mod have chose to delete comments that disagree with the OP instead of close the thread. I don’t understand what gives the OP the right to decide what and who is “impure” his words not mine. And what gives the OP the right to insinuate people who like the armor to be “work street corners”
Only the mod who has deleted the dissenting comments to the OPs opinion and kept tis thread alive does.

Just a friendly suggestion, could these people:
I’m against changing it because, hey, some people have already bought it and they like it the way it is. It’s a very small part of the game for everyone else, and not worth changing.
a great many people have bought it precisely because of how it currently looks. One person’s opinion is not going to sway ANet into a re-design when so many people want it to stay as it is.

It’s of similar concern.
Sorry for going offtopic a bit here.
I agree with the opposition on this one.
In a game where the endgame and basically the objective throughout the game is acquiring and changing the visual aspects of your character, having your looks changed AFTER you spend time/money customizing your character is the worst thing that could happen.
Don’t you dare touch my medium human t3 cultural!
Hmm, we’ll see. It’s a matter of opinion anyway, and mine is that they shouldn’t just trash the whole thing coz I like it, and will really want to get it again somehow and I’m sure others do as well.
They can give it as an upgrade to the already existing t3 armor sets; maybe add some for every t3 armor also. but it (and every other t1-3 armor set) needs to stay exclusive… they are cultural armor pieces after all.
because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind
This again? Seriously?
Im going to buy this chest piece now, combine it with viper medium ( last thread was trashing that design also), put it on a bow ranger with bear pet using non-zerk stats and post the image here. Fortunately I have a human female ranger so it is possible to me.
Please don’t force (or try to) your opinions on others. World is a big place full of people with differing preferences. If you don’t like it then don’t buy it; want something else than what’s available then request it. You can even request a completely different t3 medium human cultural chest piece or complete set (unlikely that it’ll happen but its worth asking if you feel so strongly about it). But to change what exists? effectively barring past, preset and future players from using it? insulting those who do? those that designed it? simply because its “too far of what you expect a game should present to you”? no

Woah…
it’s just pixels.
If it offends, log out.
Why even connect to the internet if youre that easily offended?
Exposed midriff seems a bit counter productive[…]
Most medium armors are made out of cloth, leather or both. Nothing that would stop a swinging blade or flying arrow, exposed midriff or not. Likewise Some heavy sets are made out of thin plate metal, again nothing that would stop an arrow. I’m not saying covering is wrong though, the more options the better, but it’s not that illogical to not cover when the cover would not protect.
@OP The coat is the only piece of that armor worth it, somewhat due to the fact of the underboob (but also in great deal to the assymmetry and cloth piece at the side). It’s also one of few pieces of medium armor that isn’t a trench coat which greatly adds to it’s value. Your suggested fix doesn’t ruin the armor that much, on that I do agree, but then again I don’t agree with your standing on the original armor, showing a bit of the underside of the boobs isn’t much worse than showing a bit of cleavage to me.
@ the OP:
In fuedal Japan, it was common for the upper class men and women to bathe together. I don’t mean swim, with trunks and suits, but bathe in full nudity.
However, it was also considered rude and/or immoral to deliberately show a man the back of a woman’s neck (as one would do in the act of turning away to hide your breasts.)
In our times, in some middle eastern and arab countries, it is immoral (and in some cases illegal) to show your hair…or any of the human form…or the face…. and yet, as “westerners” we do this every day.
The issue seems to be that you (personally) and some others believe this armor is (in your own words) immature, tacky, trashy, and makes one look like a hooker.
I applaud your ability to speak out and defend your opinion, but the fact remains that it is just that… an opinion.
When I first set eyes on this armor back in in the beginning of the game, I absolutely had to have it. Hands down, in my opinion, it is some of the most beautiful and artistic armor in the game.
So, while I respect your opinion (which is truly what this whole thread is about) I disagree wholeheartedly with you.
Hey, ANet, do you have any preliminary designs for us to speculate on yet? It would be great if we could see where your ideas are leading so we can say “yeah, that’s a good direction,” or “omg, no!”
Sorry for going offtopic a bit here.
It is off topic. This thread is about one persons views on an armor, specifically how it is ‘immature’ and ‘insulting’. All personal preferences of course. People are saying how changing a piece of armor simply due to (an obviously small) opinion would be dumb.
However in contrast the thread you linked (and the reply that you posted) leads me to believe you are on the side of allowing people to keep a set of gem store armor that..
A) was not intended to be made for other races, and made an armor set non exclusive.
B) was put in the gem store and made the original armor worthless (half price)
C) Spit on the efforts of people who worked hard to design their characters based on the actual t3.
The gem store armor is being changed for those reasons. It is not being changed because of any of the reasons listed in this thread.
So no, the two threads are in fact not related. Take your campaign elsewhere.

What you seem to miss is that it’s not about my opinion.
It’s about the reasonability that people can be appalled by this.
And apparently a lot of people here only care about themselves and show absolutely empathy towards the possibility of this.

It is your opinion. Everything you are stating here, is opinion. Do you not know the definition of opinion?
Opinion (noun): a view or judgment formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge.
Let me help you out.
“The biggest problem I have this armor is that it simply doesn’t live up to the quality I expect of a game.”
Opinion. Your opinion is that this armor doesn’t live up to the games quality. My opinion, in contrast, is that this armor is beautifully designed and is definitely up to standards.
It also does not belong to the fantasy world that is Tyria.
Opinion. Your opinion is that this armor doesn’t belong in the world of Tyria. My opinion, in contrast, is that this armor fits exactly into Tyria, especially when armors such as Light Masquerade and Light Inquest (side boob hour anyone?) exist in the same universe.
What I think of the armor itself is irrelevant to this topic.
This entire thread is about what you think of the armor, which is an opinion. Dont make me quote all of your stuff again.
“The biggest problem I have…” Obviously doesn’t mean what you think of it right?
Your whole case is that you think this armor is wrong because of the under boob. Your points have been discredited, as stating it doesn’t fit in the world is clearly shown to be false when armors like Light Inquest exist. Your case is flawed, and your arguments through the thread are weak.
Cheers. ~
What you seem to miss is that it’s not about my opinion.
It’s about the reasonability that people can be appalled by this. And apparently a lot of people here only care about themselves and show absolutely empathy towards the possibility of this.
It is about your opinion. People can be offended, and will purposefully choose to be offended, by anything. You can be appalled that all grass isn’t red, that trees don’t grow upside down, and that the ocean isn’t made out of soda.
The pot calls the kettle black once again; it is extremely selfish that you would seek to have this armor revamped to fit your own personal agenda.
And, finally, I have no idea whatsoever why this thread is still around. The original post was aggressive as was your subsequent posts, and this topic can only lead to non-constructive replies. I think it is easy enough to say this should not happen — ever.
I hate it when people start absurd and radical topics just to stir up animosity.

ok, let’s say for a moment that the thread is about the possibility that people can be “appalled” at the armor.
I am absolutely sure you speak the truth… There is a group that thinks it’s socially unacceptable.
I have a couple questions for you, if this is truly the case:
1. Why wait until now to post the thread, when it has been in the game for over a year? Did it not “appall” that group before now? It is odd that it only comes up after the Light Human T3 debacle.
2. Why is it that if the thread is not about your opinion, you keep saying “I” this, and "I: that?
3. Finally, how can you care about yourself and show absolutely empathy towards the possibility that you are in the minority on this one? (yes…in case you missed it, these are your own words directed back at you.)

You never wrote why. You described it as immature; something fit for women on street-corners. But you didn’t write why- and why is that?
Like I said, because it doesn’t fit in the game.
Quality wise. Etiquette wise. Design wise.
Subjective is subjective. Personal taste, is just that, personal taste. Unless something is obscenely offensive, then it’s all good because what you like/hate doesn’t necessarily apply to everyone else.
I, “personally”, dont find that armor fitting of your complaint but that’s me. And if I find something not fitting of my taste, I usually ignore and let those who use them, well, use. Anet’s time is better spent making bug fixes, class balance, more guild functionality, keeping player interested with lore, rather than a minor cosmetic thing.

It also does not belong to the fantasy world that is Tyria. Please keep this discussion civil and on topic.
The following attachment shows how to solve the problem without undermining the overall look and feeling of the armor.

I actually find Female armor-less Sylvari a bit…ahh……not fitting for my taste ^^.

As a female, it does bother me. Not enough to ask/want it removed, but enough so that I want…
1.) More choices for female human medium armor. You get one extreme or the other. There’s SO little in between that it barely exists.
2.)Important! Skimpy men armor. If guys get a piece of digital girl candy to stare at, why can’t girls get ours as well?
You can have your underboob, but let me have my undernuts as compensation
