I say the folks who got the skin removed now need to compensate those completely kittened by it’s removal if said people do NOT like the new flamekissed skin. It’s only fair – I’ve heard complaint after complaint of how 800 gem armor made their work for 120 gold worthless and read countless threads about “doing the math”.

Well, your complaints cost some people 120 gold or more. No, not everyone knew that was T3 armor and “controversial” – I didn’t realize until I came to the forums. I held off buying because of the very vocal crap on the forums. Others? Not so lucky. So now, I know of five people completely kittened because they bought exotic armor, earned the gold to buy human T3 light, transmuted it for the skin and then transmuted it to flamekissed yesterday… and now Anet won’t fix that. Is it their fault? Do they deserve to be out that gold and have to earn it all over again?

Please tell me how much gold all of you complaining lost out on because flamekissed existed for 24 hours.

Agreed. They got what they wanted, its removed for remodelling. Let people who bought it in those 24h keep it as is.

Why? What makes them so special to get to keep a skin that obviously shouldn’t have been released? If that’s the case I want firey norn t3 sent to me because I picked a human for racial specific armors.

The fact that we PAID for it and we’ll lose gold/skins on forced refund (because I’ve used it over some of my cultural armor and armor that was transmuted few times)

For all I care make every cultural armor available for all classes. This was first light armor set that I really liked from shop

Than you should have rolled a human.

Do all of the people claiming that they or their “friends” skinned over existing t3 cultural with flamekissed realize that you’re actually undermining your own attempts to keep your welfare cultural armor?

You’re telling me that welfare cultural is so vastly superior to T3 cultural, that you effectively deleted the 119g you spent on the skin and the 30g you spent on transmutation crystals to put it on exotics, because you thought you would never again want to wear the vastly inferior T3. Think about that for a second… well, maybe a lot of seconds with this crowd.

we may consider whether or not there is an incarnation of [ele] that would be viable
but balanced. For now, we do not expect it to see serious use.” – ANet

Keep in mind that the skin costs roughly the equivalent of $10.00 US Dollars. Where as the Tier 3 Human Light Cultural Armor costs in the realm of $18.59 US Dollars (give or take a few dollars depending on market fluctuations on each server).

That means that each of these people who bought the Tier 3 Cultural Armor, and applied the Light Armor Flame Skin to their Tier 3 Cultural Armor are effectively losing around 8.59 US Dollars because of the change. Even though without the change they had effectively gained a new appearance for the Tier 3 Armor that they originally bought, and additionally could arguably have gotten access to their level 80 Tier 3 Cultural Armor at a much lower and earlier level for a great deal cheaper than they would have otherwise have been required to do.

In effect this is going to require anyone with a human character who had previously shelled out money for their Tier 3 Armor (roughly 18 dollars give or take), and who then shelled out money for this skin to apply to their Tier 3 Armor, to once again shell out money for a new set of Tier 3 Armor, assuming that they want their Tier 3 Armor back at all.

This isn’t even counting Transmutation Crystals that would be required to give the Tier 3 Armor in question the stats that the individual in question wants, which would also have to be purchased and which would be an additional investment if this happens.

In short for those with TLDR issues… I can honestly see where the people who are complaining about the change to the Light Flame Skin are coming from, and if I had a level 80 Human whom I had applied this skin to the cultural armor for, I would be a bit peeved as well.

It is not that I don’t see the issue in it, however, like I said in another post… it is already at a point where they can not please everyone, when they decided to act at all.

On one hand people don’t want their cultural armor to be generally available [to other races], but others also do not want to loose this upgrade (without getting into what should be considered an upgrade or not) of theirs.

They can’t exactly go an say that only humans who bought this skin will get to keep it others will get a replacement. (This would please all human players, but non-human buyers would still be in a leather jacket to sweater situation).

But the cases where that upgrade might applied are the very few. You just named one class that is particuarly fond with magic and its effects but how many “magic user” classes are there? and fond with fire?

Recoloring an existing particle effect wouldn’t be hard, I know I would love green fire on necro or blue fire on a guardian for that matter. Adding particle effects to an existing mesh isn’t exactly a whole lot of work, so it would be a simple upgrade option to realize for ANet (although a dedicated dye channel for all particle effects in armors would be best).

And the point I was making wasn’t really about how suited this particular piece would be as an option upgrade on one profession or another but just that such a system would have merits in providing more variety to cultural armors in general. And that if someone is happy with an extra flame in their helmet or gloves then let them have that.

afaik many players told to have been refunded when they did the manifesto bait and switch…….

That would be a refund of the entire game purchase and those indeed did happen, gem purchases not so much (what I described earlier was just going off of what I remember, and was particularly related to gems).

I’m curious about the meshes used to make the flame-kissed armors.
It’s as though the 3 most disliked (therefore uncommon or rare as far as people wearing them goes) sets were meant to be used for the flame-over.
But then, it’s as though whoever worked on the light set swapped that mesh for the t3 human light one (for whatever reasons: it may have been the only one at hand, maybe it was prettier, or they worked on the wrong mesh by mistake, perhaps they play human only, or wanted a bra top for their norn etc) without clearing it with certain other people first.
Such a theory might be behind this fiasco.

I would like to know this too but I guess we will never know.
I will ever wonder how this came to be.

- Are they honest and they really thought this was not like the t3?
- Or did they think selling HCT3 to every race was OK?
- Or someone made this without comunicating and made the error of his career?

Would have loved to be there when they decided to backtrack to know if things were like : “What the hell have you done!?” or more likely “Tsk! They saw through it! Quick! Get te armor out of the store!”

Here i STRONGLY disagree….

But for sure they can do WAY better than what they said.

They are blindly doing a onesided fix that will create even more unbalance….
Even if finding a creative solution to make everyone happy is not possible (i still think it is)

Would be way more fair to find an in between solution both sides concede something….that is diplomacy …..

Not one side loses everything.

It’s not the same at all, one if a gem store skin the other took time, transmutes and a specific race to get. I’m tired of you people not understanding such a simple fact that this armor should have never been released. Something Anet agrees with.

You’re right, they aren’t on the same footing. The T3 people didn’t have something they bought and liked taken away from them against their will, which is far more offensive than having someone else have something that is like something you have.

It isn’t a fact that it shouldn’t have been released, it is an opinion, one Anet didn’t have when they released it, and one not universally shared.

They will remove the look because it was a Cultural Tier 3 set for Humans, just with flames added. It was a kick in the face for Cultural wearers. Especially when ALL the races could wear it as well.

They will change the look into something else, and that is for everyone who bought it. When they update the look, and if you don’t like it, you will get a refund, but the look will be taken away from you.

Actually i don’t think this is fair. People who have already bought the flame-kissed armour for other preffesions are going to miss out because we only have the skin for a period of time before they change it. And when they decide to update it our skins we purchased are gonna change.

Why not just give the people who have already purchased this skin the OPTION to DECLINE the Updated skin if they want to KEEP the original flame-kissed. Don’t turn around and say “You can always get a refund” Because i don’t want a refund. I wan’t the flame-kissed armour on my Sylvari necro. And i beg to differ that the UPDATED armour skin for Flame-kissed will be better then what we have.

So why should we not have the option to keep the skin just because all you human’s saved up for a armour skin? Let it sink in, because most of you people have probably transmuted other stuff from other race classes like Engineer backpack on a Thief, We Didn’t complain.

I don’t you canceled the right to buy the armor ANet, but please let we who did buy it, love it… wanna keep it… please allow us to keep what we paid for?

You will get your gems back either way if you don’t like the new updated look when it comes.

Not our money, though. None of the other gemstore armors compare at the moment, and I wouldn’t have bought gems if my asura didn’t look so pretty. :\

i don’t want my gems back wtf?! i payed 10€ to get this armor… i want to keep or my money back.

Technically, you paid 10€ for the gems, not for the armor. And the gems will be refunded if you are not satisfied with the armor.

But he only paid for the gems because of the set. In case of refundig gems i think its bad for business because next time we will not make the mistake of paying real Money again. Just sayin..

So… I can’t keep it? My husband thought: “You bought it, I doubt that will take it away from you, cause if they do, they better give me my gems back.”

I am one of the few who actually love the armor…

They will remove the look because it was a Cultural Tier 3 set for Humans, just with flames added. It was a kick in the face for Cultural wearers. Especially when ALL the races could wear it as well.

They will change the look into something else, and that is for everyone who bought it. When they update the look, and if you don’t like it, you will get a refund, but the look will be taken away from you.

However, if you used transmutation stones and decide you don’t like the new flamekissed, you are out of luck. You will more than likely not get your original armor back. There are already at least three human players who had bought human light T3 as a skin for their exotic armor and then used the flamekissed skin as an upgrade who will be losing their 120 gold T3 armor completely.

Makes me wonder who got the worse end of the stick here… those “kicked in the face” or those out 120+ gold and their armor.

But will we also get back our old skins, and the gems we maybe used for total makeover kits ?

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

Do all of the people claiming that they or their “friends” skinned over existing t3 cultural with flamekissed realize that you’re actually undermining their own attempts to keep your welfare cultural armor?

You’re telling me that welfare cultural is so vastly superior to T3 cultural, that you effectively deleted the 119g you spent on the skin and the 30g you spent on transmutation crystals to put it on exotics, because you thought you would never again want to wear the vastly inferior T3. Think about that for a second… well, maybe a lot of seconds with this crowd.

It doesn’t undermine it at all. What they paid for it is irrelevant. How it compares to anything else and what it costs is irrelevant. They purchased it legitimately. They have more right to keep it by any moral standard than the people that complained had to take it away from them. They deserve to keep what they have whether they paid 1 gold , a hundred gold or a thousand gold.

Except for the fact that the human skin is exclusive which this armor was based off so no, I don’t see your point or how some gem skin outweighs an entire race’s cultural armor. I think they should get a hefty refund and it sucks it happened but they should not get to keep a skin that was never, ever supposed to be used by other races.

By this argument the medium should be removed as well. While not a racial exclusive, it is exclusive in its location and its acquisition.

It’s not the same at all, since every race can get it. No matter what race I play, I will always be able to get those armors.

A slippery slope argument if I ever saw one.

Creating an ultra rare armor set only available to the few thousand who bought it before being pulled from the TP does not seem the most fair or solve the issue of human cultural being made available to other races for 1/3 the price.

ANet goofed. Flamekissed is getting nerf. It happens.

Ok lets say they change looks for those who bought it. If I dont like it, I want my armor back in same state as it was on the day I applied your skin. I have even transmuted some norn cultural and other (already transmuted) armors. We will end up losing 50+ gold and some skins for supporting this game and purchasing in shop.

Wanting your armor back just the way it was is a reasonable demand and I support you. Anet should not only refund 800 gems if you are unsatisfied with the new design, but also give you back the skins that you had on your armor before purchasing flamekissed.

Exactly, this is the ONLY solution that will work. Gem refunds will do nothing if you hate the new look, especially for the few players that transmuted their existing T3 (I am not one of them, but putting myself into their place, that would be an horrible mistake, and judging from another post, support only promised gems to a player that had such a problem.)

I bet you would like to be one of the few people running around with mega exclusive armor skin huh?
No this would open possibilities for account sellers. You were never supposed to wear T3 human set as a Sylvari and you knew that before the update so why can’t you understand how human players feel? I bet you would be just as upset if it was T3 Sylvari light set available to everyone.

Sorry I’m on my laptop so the quality is poor. I had also soul bound a sun catcher back skin to go with it. Now if I don’t like the look I can burn a transmute stone to make the catcher skin account bound but I won’t be able to sell the skin like I could have before.

Why did you make this thread if you have another thread with 1000+ posts about hows and whys on the same topic?

Because apparently that’s how you get Anet to cave and do what you want. Worked for the opposing side in this.. now if only it worked with Scarlet…

I am starting to think positive of a complete server rollback. We had it before when cultural armor went to other races and it would obviously please people that made characters just for an armour.

Most likely not.

You will only get the gems back from the armor, I believe. And your old armor look might appear.

The makeover kit is something separate and probably not something they will refund if you have already used it.

But what if I don’t want a refund on this? Ya know, people who did buy this armor, we knew darn right well it was a carbon copy of the T3 Cultural Light, but for those of us who did buy it, don’t you think that we wouldn’t have bought it if we didn’t want it?

Now, because of a slew of other people who was WAY over-analyzing this… those of us who do enjoy it are going to be punished? And why? Because it looks 99.9% identical to T3 Cultural Light?

Every single one of those flamed-armors are based on pre-existing armor. The Heavy & Medium are based off of Karma Armors, why is no one complaining about that?

Arena Net was NOT twisting anyone’s armor to buy Flamekissed.

The issue is that not only do some players lose the skin they paid for in gems, but they also lose the armor skin they overwrote (in some instances human t3 armor) that they paid a significant amount of gold for.

This REALLY is not fair.

No, it is not fair.

However, it is just as unfair for any none human characters that overwrote their skin. Cultural or not.

It would not be fair to only let humans keep the skin and say: To bad! to the Azura, Char, Norn and Sylvari players, that also overwrote their cultural armor or other skins for Flamekissed.

I don’t see how only letting humans keep the new Flamekissed would make it any more fair. Quite the opposite actually.

What would be fair, is to either return whatever skin was overwritten by Flamekissed, regardless of race. Or let them keep the Flamekissed. (Yes, I know a lot of people have strong feelings about the second alternative.)

I will miss you, Flamekissed. You were one of the few armor releases that looked good on my female ele Asura. They get generic male skins of everything, but this one made her look like a pretty flame princess. :’(

That’s the male skin still. It just makes Male Humans look like pretty flame princesses too.

The whole thing is a slippery slope, but that’s beside the point. The argument stands. The medium skin is “exclusive” to WvW, and can only be paid for in Badges of Honor. If you’re going to base your argument purely on exclusivity, then it it has to be applied all the way around. Exclusive to race, exclusive to area, still exclusive.
