Monthly dungeon requirement with LFD... lol
Or perhaps it might be a way to show all the “This game is anti-social there is no reason to make friends, join a guild, or talk to one another!” types of players that there is in fact reasons to be social.
almost as fun as people who hate WvW but forced to kill 50 players every month im sure.

lol. Touche.
Forming groups manually is not socializing. It’s mindless spam, nothing more.
forced… this word you use…. I do not think it means what you think it means.

I like to look at it as a nostalgic blast from the past. This game has all the quality of life features 1999 had to offer!
I havent actually looked at the completed achievement. But tier 2 was 3 dungeons. I dont suspect tier 3 (the final tier) will be much, if any over say 5 dungeons.
I find it absolutely inconceivable that you would be unable to find a party for say, CoF path 1. Or AC path 2, 5 times within an entire bloody month. It takes less than 10 minutes if that to actually get a party, and path 1 CoF takes like 20 minutes to finish. If you cant put in 30 minutes of your day into guild wars, 5 times in a month, well, then I dont really know why you are aiming to do your monthlies in the first place o.o
My entire guild was expecting something more like 1-10-20 for the monthly, we were surprised when we hit tier 2 of it within an hour and a half of our daily AC runs.
Well, actually the only issue on WvW kills vs Dungeon Runs is that you can solo WvW kills but can’t solo Dungeon runs.
And in my opinion it’s less time consuming to go into WvW, for example, I can kills 2-3 players and left the WvW once a day, but I can’t do this with Dungeon runs.
I haven’t had time to really look into this; it’s on topic so I will ask it:
At what point does the achievement get counted?
There’s a lot of people out there that don’t like the dungeons due to the over tuned nature of the mobs dmg output, massive life pools and “ugly armor rewards” (not my wording, just quoting what I have seen as a reason they don’t run dungeons). Will we start to see what WvW is seeing now? Players joining and sitting there waiting for PoIs to open up, or camping “safe” spots waiting for a zerg to rush the walls so they can get in their monthly kills in.
Will we start to see griefing of this nature now creep into Dungeon runs? Or has it been tested enough to disallow such behavior?
Or am I just paranoid? :P

From the depths of my heart, Thank you.

Certain boss kills in dungeons do count towards your monthly as events completed (same is true for the daily)…. Maybe not the most efficient way to knock off that requirement, but at least you’re getting credit.
Just hope next month they require X amount of tPvP victories to complete it.
I’ve always been against them forcing PvE players into wvw for map completion/monthly. Now they are trying to punish the PvP players by wanting to push them into more PvE content.
I can’t help but think that this is just one more example of how many people are playing the game still. If they feel the need to force doing instances on people, what exactly does that say.
I think a MUCH better option for the monthly would be
X many players killed in wvw/spvp/tpvp, or instances completed. That way PvE players can do their dungeons, while PvP players can continue to actually enjoy the game.

Well it is called Guild Wars 2, and was marketed to the pvp player base. It just happens to have some very nice PVE content.
I am kind of looking forward to this. I haven’t ran that many dungeons, so it’s time to check out the content.

I didn’t complete October’s monthly because of the WvW requirement. It certainly looks like I won’t do November’s either, especially because of the dungeon requirement. I can just see it now, standing around yelling…

I’d like a LFD tool and it has nothing to do with not wanting to socialize. I would just like to maximize what I can do in my play time and some dungeons are harder to find groups for than others.
Unless you are doing the long since determined “easiest/quickest” path for each dungeon, then it can take half an hour or longer to get a group together. That’s hours of lost play time with consideration to the dungeon master and dungeon runner achievements.
It would be nice to be able to queue up for a group for one of the lesser played dungeons and then go about crafting, harvesting, doing my daily, some sPvP matches, or DEs until four other people come along.
Anyways, Im pretty sure Anet already acknowledged somewhere that this is something they are working on. We really don’t need to bicker about it or prove a case for its existence. It’ll be coming eventually.

I think the exact same thing when I see someone ignorantly assume the word doesn’t apply, when it does.
forced, forc·ing, forc·es
1. To compel through pressure or necessity: I forced myself to practice daily. He was forced to take a second job.
If your goal requires that you complete the monthly, then whatever requirements they set for that monthly you are forced to do in order to achieve your goal. It’s a very naive and downright juvenile view of the word to assume that it only means being a non-optional situation. Anyone who believes that honestly has a lot of growing up to do, because the real world is going to teach them very differently very quickly.

Hyperbole is a great way of putting artificial significance on a problem that isn’t really there.
One of the devs mentioned a big update this month, so a functional lfg tool may be part of it.
I don’t find dungeons even remotely fun (hello absurdly huge HP pools on every trash mob) so I’m not really thrilled by this. Getting the WvW kills was already enough of a chore with the ridiculously imbalanced matchups constantly, but having to do (arguably) the least fun content in the game for the monthly is not great IMO.
If the dungeons weren’t so abysmally designed and paced, it wouldn’t be so bad.
Forcing? Punishing?
Are you guys hearing yourselves?
So you have to experience a part of the game you don’t normally frequent. Who knows, maybe you’ll enjoy yourself. Skip the monthly if it’s such a huge deal to you.
HURR DURR don’t play the game. Great answer.
