We’re posting bug-related information about the Mordrem Invasion issues on this thread.
We’ll post event-related updates here as they become available.

Update on the Mordrem Invasion Event — 1:45 PM Pacific 9/10:
Some of you have asked about rewards for defeating the Mordrem during their attempts to invade Kessex Hills, Brisban Wildlands, and Diessa Plateau. Here’s some info from the dev team:

Another thing if possible
Can we please see about updating the speed between maps, finishing one map then waiting over * 30 minutes for the next map to start is very boring to say the least
(edited by Grymlocke.1067)
i have done 2 events , got gold reward on second event , except one time, never got a drop or a chest, and telling ppl that it takes a week to get it in the mail is not a viable answer, when everyone else is getting stacks of blooms, this event is a joke, this expansion is starting to look like a joke.
- Rewards scale with the number of Mordrem incursions you help defeat.
How exactly? I had 24 stacks on buff and got 20 (5+15) blooms. Is this how it supposed to work?
I was in 3 First Event , when the event started , in the First Event i won 10 stacks, Second 11 Stacks and in the Third 14 stacks ,but i don’t received no reward!
Appreciate the update,
I would like to know whether there are supposed to be rewards for the individual incursions and, if so, how they scale with medal level.

Sorry, but this doesn’t help.
If the events were working by now we would know how many events we have to do to get the rewards we want.
Farming blindly hoping to have enough blossoms when the rewards will be given sounds really wrong.
Thanks anyway for the answer.
In the event after the fix I got 5 stacks (mostly afk because first 3 events I got nothing) and I got 5 blooms, no scaling.
Also this mentioned dayly map reward didn’t happen either.
Like a lot of people already said. People need to know how many blooms for what.
Cheers for the updates Gaile.
Theres some valid feedback about vendors needing gold for the items which is shutting out new players. Since your intention was to bring veterans, new players and by proxy, guilds, together….id argue this is a major barrier. Worth escalating to the right ppl.
It should be a social, fun event, not another gold sink or about the games economy
- Rewards scale with the number of Mordrem incursions you help defeat.

How do you get that many stacks? I played the entire event and got gold and a couple silver rewards and got 10 stacks (no rewards). Do you stay and complete each event or do you just tag an event and move on?
5 blooms for 30 min of work isn’t worth it. if the scaling is fixed, how does it work? i want the 4 skins, which is 900 blooms, is it possible to get them all?
The rewards are TOO THIN. We need more rewards, you shouldn’t be asking us to farm 50 hours for a single item in a 4 day event. Why would anyone at Anet feel the need to balance loot this maliciously?
- Rewards scale with the number of Mordrem incursions you help defeat.
- There also is a daily map bonus for repelling invasions.
So it’s not scaling with the total amount of mordrem events done by the map? Just a scale based of the personal participation?
What’s the daily map bonus? Is it applied for each of the three maps?
I remember when there was a detailed list of rewards given previous or on release of these kinds of events.
The number of events completed on the map does count for nothing?
So that means the most effective way is to port around, tagging as many events as possible to get max rewards?
That feels like a HUGE step backwards.
Remember when you actually had to coordinate the whole map of besieged Lion’s Arch to rescue as many survivors as possible for EVERYONE’S profit?
This is maybe almost a minor issue, compared to the enormous bugs/problems here. But why was an event ostensibly aimed at new players created, which apparently rewards little to no XP? I can’t understand why mobs would give no XP or anything when killed.
Unless that’s all part of the bug, and it’s even bigger than we realize.
The participation algorithm needs to be looked at
out of 21 events I did it only awarded me rank 14 and I can easily say I did as much in all of those as i did the 14 vrs 21
Not sure if its
1: DPS/DT
2: Blowing things up with seed bombs
3: destroying shield generators
4: Repairing Catapults
but some times it isn’t awarding
P.S Is there anyway to quicken the pace with these things,
1: make it do 30 events in 30 minutes or less if we do 30 in say 19 minutes let it end then we can move onto the next area, and not wait 30 more minutes
(edited by Grymlocke.1067)
Still haven’t seen anything about disconnects and loss of buff. Will we get rewards for those events?
So the kessex hills map just ended. I got 13 stacks and only got 5 blooms, how does this “scaling” work??!?

I got dc’d too, lost all stacks, went back in completed a few more events and didn’t get any more stacks.

It isnt fixed yet, so the scaling doesnt work

Be happy with your 5. I spent over 2 hours and have yet to receive anything at all. I’ve posted a thread asking for ANet to clarify the expected amounts we can expect to earn but until they fix this or let us know those numbers I’m done with this sham of an “event”.

I do event for a minute and go to the other one.
Update on my experiences:
Since it should now scale I did 19 stacks. I got no reward and WHATS MORE IMPORTANT I got only bronze for 19 stacks?
This is so kittened up in the way it workes an counts. Also making tagging and leaving the most effective way is a bad choice too.
No xp/loot, the bug where thrown bombs don’t do dmg even if you hit, the bugfixes that change nothing so far, the disconnect problem….
I did now ~70 buff stacks all together and I’m proud owner of 5 blooms.
Sigh. At least you got something. I’ve received zero rewards since the event started.
how u track my lost progress?
The event is really lacking.
The individual events don’t scale properly, especially the catapult ones, its pretty hard to get anything above bronze participation, when you do get anything.
The bugged rewards are alarming, specially on a event with such a tight schedule (most similar events ran for at least a week, didn’t they?).
What is happening is that people are being driven away from the event because of the bugs, and thus missing an oportunity.
The NPcs staying for longer on don’t really do anything for the missing rewards, since people aren’t getting them now, they don’t know how many they will get, how many they need to get the rewards they want, so they simply won’t do anything.

- Remember that a rewards issue currently is being addressed and we hope to have a fix for that soon.
- Rewards, if not received immediately, will be distributed to those who earned them in the next several days.
- NPCs will remain in place for a period of time after the event so that you can exchange blooms for items. An NPC will remain in the Priory for a few months, at least, so you’ll be able to make the exchanges you need to make.
Is the map wide bonus suppose to be 5? I got it that once so far, not sure if it was suppose to be from how many events I did, or the map wide bonus
Sigh. At least you got something. I’ve received zero rewards since the event started.
I have faith they will get us whatever we’ve earned. The frustrating part for me is not knowing what we’ve earned. There are several things that I’m interested in, but I have no clue whether I have earned more than, half of, or a hundredth of the cost of those things.
Those who stumble upon those shield plant events can consider themselves lucky. Those with bomb and catapults not so much. I really have no idea how will they calculate the rewards retroactively especially when you take into consideration that some take much longer to complete than others.
Indeed.
Still, it just feels more rewarding to be rewarded at the time, rather than an unknown sometime in the future. I’ve sort of lost interest until I hear rewards are actually be rewarded (at the time of play).
It also seems like a bit of a Gold Sink. Either spend a lot to waypoint around, or often just not make it to the events in time. Until I understand how much I’m earning per event, I think I’ll wait (a bit).
I’ve posted this concern on another thread but..
Yall really should reconsider the gold cost of these items. When you have so many new (and therefore poor) players trying out your game, this is not the time to hit them with rewards that cost 1 to 10 gold each. Your f2p players are unlikely to have even one gold. A short term fun event that puts the rewards out of reach no matter how much a low level farms the events is a poorly designed set of rewards. Frankly, it looks bad and it’s something a f2p is likely to remember when he is considering converting to b2p.

Please broadcast game-wide when and if this becomes anything but a time sink.
Thanks

Yeah ive given up til tomorrow too. Plenty of other things to do, like stopping my Fallout Shelter population spiral out of control………
My experience with this event: done it 4 times with no rewards and the 5th time the game crashed! A perfect ending, as off course I lost any tracking of the event.
My patience has it’s limits… “Thank you” ANet!

Again, how many?
The precise numbers are crucial in this case since the events are scheduled for a limited time frame. We need them to be able to roughly kitten our progress towards are own individual goals.

Anet doesn’t do precise numbers on rewards. You’re not going to get that information. I’m not going to tell you to stop trying, but if the entire history of this game is any precedent, they’re not going to give you numbers. I’m seeing a lot of questions for this and I worry that people think they’re actually going to get a reply.

Thank you Gaile! Great news about the bugged rewards, tell the team that it’s appreciated immensely (because it sounds like it’ll be some work). I know a lot of people here don’t seem satisfied, but you know how forums work The rest of us find this news happily.
On the other hand, I don’t know how many other people find this, but the event does not seem geared towards new players at all. I’m perfectly happy with the content, but that’s because I can keep up. Everything is so fast and seems it could be extremely intimidating (not that we players don’t have something to do with it because let’s face it, it’s habit for the majority to farm fast and furiously). Looking forward to trying it with some new guild members tonight though, and I’ll see then. Good luck everyone.

But we can usually work out how much we’ll need to farm, or if it’s worth it, based on what rewards we get as we do the event. That’s not working out so well today, which is why it would behoove them to change this policy, if only this once.
Do I expect them to? Not really, no. But they really, really should.

Well, yeah, but when stuff is broken is the only time we ask. They never tell us. I can come up with decent excuses as to why this is the case though. I have to, of course, because explaining themselves is another thing they never do. But like I said, I’m not telling people not to ask. Who knows? Maybe this time it’ll work.

The fact they refuse to divulge absolutely ANY info on the number of blooms one should get is beyond alarming. They do not have to give numbers, they do not have to give algorithms, they don’t have to do ANYTHING aside from say ‘5 is not the intended number’. But they HAVE NOT commented on it repeatedly throughout the day, and in fact directly avoided it. Gaile has been asked here and on reddit repeatedly, and I’m fairly certain the question has been relayed.
So why then is it being ignored?
I am sad with the way you anet are treating the customers. We buyed the game, many will buy expansion, many use the gemshop, i think we deserve some respect as customers. What with this pathetic and full of bugs " event " ? Farming 40 hours and paying gold i bet new players will be happy ( ofc first to get anything it must not be full of BUGS ) Excellent advertising i must say.

It’s really simple. They don’t want to give you the wrong information and the nature of video games means that information could change on the backend at any time. Being wrong is, from a business perspective, way worse than just withholding information. I mean, I’m not saying I don’t agree with you. I’m just giving any perspective I can offer. I really don’t know anything about why they hate keeping us informed. I can only use evidence from previous interactions.
How could the information be wrong? They had to design and plan this release. They know what the intended number was. If they don’t, who the hell would?
The information ALREADY EXISTED. It is not new. It had to be in the game for rewards to function AT ALL.

And if they don’t have that kind of info nailed down when the event has technically been live for over 7 hours now, that’s… terrifying for an entirely different reason.

Yes, they know what the intended number WAS. What if that number changes?
My issues thus far have been losing the buff due to DC’ing and Mega Server map instances imploding.
Please re-read my initial post as well as the billion questions people have asked on this Xeno. People don’t care if they give us THE ACTUAL NUMBER, they want to know if 5 was the INTENDED number. Those things are drastically drastically different. One is asking ‘is this a bug’ and the other is wanting specifics that Anet hsa never given out.
Asking if something is a bug in an event FILLED with bugs is not a bad thing.

I get your point. I promise I do. I’m telling you THAT information, the specific vague information you are requesting is NOT something Anet gives out. They just don’t. They’ll tell you there is a bug. They’ll let you guess what the bug is. They will never tell you.
And I keep saying there is nothing wrong with asking. I’m just saying you won’t get a response. How many times do I need to clarify my position?

Appreciate the update on Anet’s part, and certainly the work they’re putting in behind the scenes to fix the mess that this well-intended event has become.
Having just done a few instances of the invasion chain (leaving empty-handed), and reading map chat & forums, it feels like in their current broken state, the events have just been generating a tremendous amount of vitriol / frustration in the community. At this point, it may just be worth delaying them entirely until a fix is in place, in the interest of preventing more angry reactions / confusion, especially for newer players to the game that likely leave disappointed and discouraged from map chat after taking part in the event.
Anyway, look forward to a fix soon, and hopefully smoother, fun in-game events in the weeks to come!
