So I made this post http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/12g2m0/my_gripe_with_wvwspvp/ on reddit, but it appears that it’s not really getting the attention I believe it needs, as it addressed some major issues to do with WvW/sPvP and maybe the longetivity of GW2 and its ability to retain its playerbase. Thoughts?

I’m hoping people here will be a bit more open minded instead of tucking it behind the shelf and try forget/deny there are real problems.

it really just sounds like you want duels or a place where you can gank players in some sort of 1v1 system.
Even in spvp where its either 8v8 or 5v5, your biggest issues aside from cosmetics was you weren’t getting fair fights?

I really don’t agree that this is what will kill guildwars 2 in the long term.

I think you missed the point of my thread…

“it really just sounds like you want duels or a place where you can gank players in some sort of 1v1 system.”
Yes I would very much like a 1v1 system to PvP, as I find it a lot more enjoyable than a constant zerg fest. I’m just wondering, did you read the other points I made about 1 server dominance, and zerg festing that is… our WvW system?

“Even in spvp where its either 8v8 or 5v5, your biggest issues aside from cosmetics was you weren’t getting fair fights?”
No, my biggest issue about sPvP is that would work to lv80 in PvE in order to look cool, but then once you start sPvP you lose all you aesthetic goals you’ve achieved rendering your whole PvE experience useless, and dare I say it, a waste of time.

The problem with these limitations is that, this is what “GW2 endgame is” or if you want to take the whole “the whole game is endgame” stance. then WvW/sPvP is pretty much all there is to do once you hit 80. At the moment, and I’m sure there are a lot of people in my position too, that are lv80, are decently geared, that have nothing to do because their server in WvW is either getting owned, or is owning (both are boring as hell) and cannot be bothered to play the whooollleee game again in sPvP in order to gain their aesthetics again. There’s really nothing that’s keeping me in tact, other than the prospect that WvW get more enjoyable once it resets.

well, there where a lot of important things pointed out in this thread by people that do not agree with your point of view, I do not feel the need to reiterate them here. Or just one which seems the most vital: Yes, WvW is mainly a zergfest, but whenever a coordinated group with a plan and probably a voice tool enters the fray, they make the difference. It´s up to the players if they want to run to the next big battle where everyone congregates or stick with a small party, get behind the lines and start attacking enemy infrastructure while the rest bangs their head against a gate/keeps shooting from walls at people banging their head against a gate.

Player created content is what players make of it. Zergs are fun for a while, but as people get to know their toons better and better the gameplay styles will change and become more refined.

I’m pretty sure that Anet will introduce some more styles of PvP as well, over time. They already stated that the sPvP arenas are just a start, and that they intend to expand on that. I think the same will happen with the WvW type of idea (e.g. a realm that has more of a “permanent” struggle between factions that are not-server-based, but based on some kind of elective affiliation, would be a nice addition, once things have settled down a bit).
