So this was the only place on the forum, where I found I could throw in my review after having played the game since 25th of August 2012 until today, the 20th of Juni 2013.
So this is what I have to say about GW2 after all the time playing.
Character creation is simple and easy, but also it offers some depth to how your character looks and it works for an online game. No need for very deep character creation, you’ll be looking at your characters rear most of the time anyway and the armor customization does the “look good” part for you.
After creating your character you are thrown directly into a nice little intro which for every race is cool and fitting. A short story to get you started and good luck in your adventure.
Now the whole skill system is easy to handle and with the different skills for each weapon it gives you a good variety for only 5 weapon skills. I love it, less skills and no switching around tons of weapon skills like in other MMO’s. Your Utility skills gives you a more deep build, even if its only five more skills. It still gives you the final tools to play your character the way you want to and with traits to buff your skills, it becomes interesting and you can tune your character even more to your play style.
The weapon and armor customization is great. You cannot color your weapons, but hey, you don’t need to. Transmution stones, rocks. The personal customization of your armor using a huge pool of colors and a good count of different armor parts to look just the way you want to.
Each class offers a variety of play styles. I wouldn’t say that the “holy-trinity” is totally out of the picture, but ANet sure did a great job. Each class can pull it’s weight in any area, though some classes might be better at something than others.
Some classes have been loved and others hated.
Classes I’ve played and my experience with them.
Thief:
I tried this one for a short while, but never really liked it. I’ve played with others who played thief in PvE and a little in WvW and they handled it cool.
but after almost 30 lvls, I found the thief was just not my play style.
Thief will always be the least liked, as a mate of mine says “The Thief/Rogue will always grief the PvP part of any online game”. And I tend to agree, almost.
Warrior:
I had an Asura warrior that I created a long time ago after I ran into an NPC Asura Vigil with heavy armor. Cool armor and I went on to finish not only the map, but also the Personal Story with my Warroir. I did most with my Asura, I used Shield/Sword and I loved it, with backup from rifle. I also did GS for awhile, sweet damage. A pure PTV build; “I’m a survivor, I’m gonna make it. Oh kitten a ton of condition damage, ouch.” Warrior is basically a simple class to play, but when you get under the skin, it can really have a good variety of different strengths. I was the little Asura on Gandara running around in green with the witch hat. I loved it. Warrior is much more that the shouted “Rifle-warrior-one-shot-killer.”
