I once opened a thread here saying that I couldn’t work for Anet. That thread was quietly moderated out of existence, but my point was that I really feel sorry for the designers of some of the beautiful weapons in this game.

At the time it bothered me that some really nice looking stuff was only being offered to players through an RNG coin mall box that had a really small chance to drop. All that work to design some nice looking stuff, but very few players were ever going to use those items because of RNG.

I’m now looking at Zojja’s Claymore. I have busted my kitten for over week to get this thing, playing the game exactly the way I don’t want to play, to get the mats needed to build it. While it is a beautiful item and really flashy in the right light, it just doesn’t fit with my armor and dyes, and I’m not going to change those things yet again, certainly not when Ascended armor is probably right around the corner.

So what am I supposed to do? Put a Peacemaker skin over top of this thing? I’m sure a designer will read this and crawl under his or her desk. That’s what I would do.

I’m going to hold off on that and wait for the Ascended light armor, to see what that looks like, but why can’t these weapons be dyed? At least the physical shape, and gilt works could remain and look great.

Anyway, my apologies. The stuff looks great, but this item really don’t fit in with what I’ve already built, so I’m probably going to have to change it.

My posts are facts as I know them, or my own opinion, and do not represent any guild.

If it makes you feel any better, that Peacemaker skin was also designed. Perhaps by the same designer? Perhaps the designer likes his Peacemaker skin so right now he’s shedding a tear of joy.

I agree with you there on the point of playing exactly the way I don’t want to play to obtain these items. That’s what some of us are still experiencing after the change.

I thought their color depends on the main stat?

Personally I’m going to do the same thing.

I’m working on ascended weapons as a long term goal. Just started saving ectos instead of selling them outright to start leveling weaponsmith to start with GS for my guardian (he gets first dibs on anything), but while I do like the design of the ascended GS, unless I go with vitality or healing as primary, which my guardian doesn’t really use, it won’t fit his armor color scheme, and a few undyeable pieces I use and really like (back piece, radiant gloves) makes me not want to change it, so chances are when I do get one I’ll transmute it to the GS I’m using now which does fit (guild sunderer).

It’s a pile of Elonian protection magic, mixed with a little monk training,
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.
