I don’t know if I should hold onto them or sell them on the TP.

I have 0 idea what they are used for. And I usually just sell them on the TP since I can usually net 1.5 – 2 gold per coin.

So could anyone tell me what they are used for? Since my daily reward for today got me 6 of them.

They are used to make legendary weapons, are used in legendary armor (which isn’t actually released yet) and ~90 other cosmetic skins as well as a few more miscellaneous recipes. If you have absolutely zero interest in any of those skins (which you can find here https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Legendary_weapon and https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mystic_Coin/Equipment ) then feel free to sell Mystic Coins and take the gold. If you think that you might ever want one or more of those skins (especially legendaries), its better to hold onto your mystic coins because the incoming supply is time gated and slow per player, and you need a lot of them to craft a legendary.

There’re used in various high level crafting, such as Legendary weapons and other weapons with unique skins. They are also used for various other things such as guild upgrades.

If you really have no use for it, just sell them. If you think, however, that you might want one of the things they are used for somewhere in the future, better keep them. They are not going to get any cheaper, their acquisition is really slow, and they tend to be required in greater amounts, so you may end up in a situation where you’d need to buy them back, at a loss.

you can usually get more gold out of them if you invest spirit shards in addition and craft some high value skins

I am very surprised a flood of people haven’t posted to sell them. There is an ongoing thread about expensive they are because people are “hoarding” them, because their needs are more important than yours, I guess. Check out the links flesh wound posted, and if you feel like you may want to go for any of those things, keep them, if not, make some gold.

Price would likely go up further with the next legendary weapon release. How much and how long depends on how popular it is.

Price goes up every time something happens to make people fear the supply is running out… and then it drops again, with the overall trend of slowly rising over time.

Which is why I never sell any. Buying them back later, when I suddenly need them, is an unattractive prospect.

You misunderstand most of those threads. Yes, people are hoarding them, but it’s mostly acknowledged in those threads that there’s a very valid reason do do so.
The problem does not lie with the hoarders. They are a symptom, not a cause.

If you’re thinking people should suggest that because selling them is the best option then I’d say it doesn’t really answer the question. The OP already knows they can be sold, and how much they’re worth. Letting them know what else mystic coins can be used for allows them to make an informed decision.

If you’re thinking people would say that because they want to ‘trick’ other people into selling them to reduce the price (or fill their buy orders) I’d say the community is probably too nice to be that dishonest. Also one person selling the few coins they have would be a drop in the bucket compared to demand, it’s not going to impact the market so there’s very little benefit in doing it. Even if several other people read this topic and decide to sell them it’s unlikely to make an impact compared to the number of people wanting to buy them (or the number likely being stock piled by people hoping to make a profit).

The mystic weapons for specialisation collections need them if you’re mystic forging them, but you might be better off buying them from the tp and selling the coins than forging (haven’t compared prices in ages).
Making mystic clovers for legendary weapons uses them, but I’ve been slowly accumulating mystic clovers via other methods instead since I’m in no rush for them.
The newer legendaries also require a stack of the coins by themselves, which is what most of my coins are being saved up for.
Then they’re also used in an assortment of other mystic forge recipes for other funky skins of varying value.

And its that overall trend that worries some of us. There is absolutely nothing in the game right now to keep the price from slowly rising till the game dies. Demand will keep going up, at the very least until the second gen of legendaries is fully released. If you ever plan on crafting even a single legendary then you will lose out on selling your MC because by the time you need them you will end up paying more money than you made selling them.

Not necessarily. The other option is to wait to get more mystic coins through login rewards.

That’s what I did. I had been selling mystic coins or putting them towards guild upgrades because I didn’t think I had any use for them. Then I randomly decided to make The Bifrost so suddenly I needed a lot more than the 30 or so I’d kept back.

Mystic Clovers were one of the first things I started making and one of the last I finished. But I didn’t buy a single mystic coin and while it was the longest individual step it didn’t take longer than all the other stuff so it didn’t hold me up.
