Nearly a month after release. Any second thoughts?
The only thing that gw2 is missing currently is an end-game achievement, like u know…. dungeons are cool, but kinda senseless as long as u craft armor berserker armor, especially because the skin armor for leather user isn’t that great.
At least SPvP is funny even if it can be built better IMHO
PvP in this game disgusts me. PvE in this game disgusts me.
And yet here you are.
Second thoughts? Yes, yes I do. I wish I would have known on my first character to choose a more neutral colored hair accessory.
About the game? No, not at all.
2nd thoughts about what? Buying the game?
(this is just how I feel so please fanbois don’t get all bent out of shape)
I will say I already stopped playing for now because for me I just got bored of it fast. The questing system at first seemed pretty fun but became extremely repetitive. I know questing in general is like that, but for GW2 I simply got bored of it fast. Especially out leveling the zone by 5 and having to go to other starter zones was a huge turn off.
Yes I know pvping and crafting gets xp also but some people simply aren’t into crafting or pvping while leveling.
The graphics were a lot better then I expected and the UI and movement was pretty well done. I think another reason which got me bored was each zone was pretty much the same ambiance/scenery wise. I know not exactly the same as there are marshes and caves and fields etc. but it always felt like I was in a forest type area. Whereas I look at ToR and WoW and I could tell I was in a completely different area. I know there are other areas like snow and stuff, but the other starter zone I went too was forest in the fall.
Don’t get me wrong the ambiance/scenery looks wise was great but for me just seemed like the same ole same ole while finding new zones. Also I am not one who likes to have to farm one thing to keep getting xp which if you do the questing system you basically need to farm events like mad. The heart quest doesn’t give much and you do it once.
Sure this game may not be for me, but I don’t hate the game nor ever regret buying it because it is free to play. So if I get the urge to play a little some more I can.
Where did they say Cantha was going to be the next expansion?
It’s more or less been accepted as a fact since the tengu in the Dominion of Winds are refugees from Cantha, and killing Zhaitan will open trade with Cantha again. There’s just so much in game at the moment that already points at Cantha being next on the list that it would be terribly confusing if we suddenly go to Elona to deal with Palawa Joko.
Personally I’d rather deal with chinese nazi’s than a lich trying to run an oasis resort with undead slave labor.
Only some of the Tengu in the Dominion of Winds are Canthan Tengu as the DoW is basically all Tengu from across planet.
Last we heard from Cantha they went all xenophobic isolationist so I highly doubt they’d want to begin open trade again…
And as for Elona forget Palawa Joko there’s still kind of a a big crystal dragon in the way. Oh and we have a dragon from the north pressing further south. And then there are reports from traveling Tengu that the minions of Primordus are surfacing from within the DoW and that an asuran gate is being built to connect to Lion’s Arch.
I’d think we’d see Elona or the Deeps of the Unending Ocean before Cantha, BUT then there’s the unknown continent to the west and then to the north and east the rest of the mainland continent we are on! I think that we are staying in Tyria for quite some time and I honestly don’t think we are gunna see Cantha for a while.
I think one thing for certain is that the Tengu are being setup for becoming the next playable race.

Would I pay for it again? Yeah. If that’s what you’re asking.
A lot of the problems I anticipated that the game would have ended up being worse than I thought they would be. Some of the core problems I had with the game in general over GW1 ended up being true. Limited skill selection, boring gameplay over time, inability to change builds, lack of reason to change weapons other than just because, and so on.
I don’t think I’ll play it like I did GW1. I played that for years without ever feeling bored, because the core mechanics of its combat system were so vast. GW2 is nothing like that, and I felt bored with it well before I hit level 80. That will probably never change, so I anticipate moving on rather quickly.
No second thoughts, superb value for money.
Not really second thoughts, just quite a few first thoughts (e.g. things I thought I would see in the game) never happened.
I got a lot out of it and overall, I’m happy.
I won’t be playing much for a while. Far too many bugs/tweaks/bots/irritations still to be worked out.
I’ll come back occasionally.
Oh, and +1 on the headband thing. I look like a reject from a 70’s basketball team and can’t fix it.
Total waste of time and money. I wish I could get my money back.
There is literally no depth to the PVP in this game. WoW laughs at this game’s pvp.
LMAO WoW pvp is a joke. dancing around line of site and getting your heals, from a healer class… rofl.
gw2 is a great game well worth 60 bucks . little to many bugs in the necro class.

I would just type “^^this^^” but I’ve recieved a warning from moderators for doing that in the past.
So… I will be verbos:
I totally agree with your post good sir/madam. I too picked a hair accessory w/ much color bias. It’s a green head band. It tends to clash w/ every other fasion choice I make. I truly wish I had picked a brown or ebony for the hair band. Now I’ll have to wait till
Anet allows me to change hair styles, which I would gladly pay some gems for.
TLDR: this
Total waste of time and money. I wish I could get my money back.

I think you missed his sarcasm. Seemed like he was saying GW2 which is pvp based is such a joke right now that WoW’s pvp which sucks also is even laughing at GW2’s pvp. Like a nerd kid laughing at a nerdier kid.
“PvP in this game disgusts me. PvE in this game disgusts me.”
In my head, I’m hearing this spoken in a jaded-effete-Euro-aristocrat voice, and it sounds pretty awesome.
I’ve only got one guy to 80. And he is only like 50% of the map. This game is so massive and amazing. I’ve got totally different zones/stories for a big chunk waiting on other characters. I love ANet.
I have no second thoughts about playing this game. It’s beautiful, engaging, and unique. As an altoholic, I have 6 toons and no 80s and having a blast. Why do you think I’m on the forums mid-day? Cuz I’m at work and miss playing.

I really hate when people need a trivial number (ie arena rating in WoW) to make a game worth playing. At the end of the day, you should be playing the game because YOU ENJOY IT and not to see larger crits or purple text on the names of your gear or your pointless arena rating going up. You can become a better player without a rating, prove it to people with action rather than a rating to hide behind.

What does this have to do with the topic? I don’t see anyone here saying they need that stuff. I see people answering the question. When people say they don’t like the game doesn’t mean they only like WoW and need ranking numbers and purples. You seem to be reading wayyy to much into the question.
I saw mention of the ranking system and then dragged in related topics
Still loving it. Just dinged 68 last night, while exploring. Already up to 20 gold again (spent about 12-15 on crap I wanted xD), and just love venturing around finding crafting mats to sell.
Once I ding 80, I’ll probably finish all of the world zones, and then do every jumping puzzle in the game. After that, I’ll delve into running dungeons, as I’ve seen a few gear sets I want.
Once I get all other affairs settled, my biggest thing will be WvW! I’ll probably avoid the zerging and go for stalking solo or small groups. Will be like old times on another MMO.
Granted, when I get bored I’ll more than likely jump onto an alt and do it all over again. I dunno, this game is like.. home for me. Totally comfortable and a blast from start to almost finish.

After the hacking incident this past week I’m sad to say that I’m probably done with the game. Aside from a kind player who sent me 1g to help get back on my feet, there is really nothing left in this game for me(honestly feel really depressed/feel like I wasted my time for nothing).
My guild recently started organized WvWvW and I FREAKING LOVED IT! Every segment of it! I also enjoy casually doing dungeons, slowly getting my gear… no rush, no pressure.
No second thoughts, this game is exactly what I wanted. Some people just don’t feel that way and I tend to do my best to show them my perspective on the game, but in the end I think if you don’t enjoy something you shouldn’t play it, this game will always have a playerbase.
