New racial holidays
We have theoretical holidays, but theyre simply not celebrated because anet doesnt have the time or resources for parties other than wintersday and halloween.. scrap that, they dont even have the time and resources to update those.
The norn have a celebration for each of the great spirits, and the Great Hunt is an important one.
Humans celebrate each god, as well as some of their major events. We just cant see them celebrate it anywhere.
Charr just have ocassional boats to celebrate bug wars won, as well as Meatoberfest.
Sylvari are simply too young to have any of their own festivals yet.
Asura i dont really know. I think they celebrate the graduations of the college, but other than that
Sure, why not? I’m all for more Festivals.
The game is in desperate need of new fun content besides LW and add-ons. I assume ArenaNet is majorly understaffed if they can’t even fix severe bugs in vital content right away nor provide some variety in the already existing annual festivities.
I don’t know, they seem to have the resources to churn out fey new armor sets and impractical looking weapons.
Do they not make enough money from gemstore? Wasn’t that part of the idea of no sub. $15 bucks a month verses no sub and much more from buying gems for gemstore crap?
I know in the first 2 years i spent more then $15 a month in that thing. but yeah content aint what is used to be and there’s other games to play now so…
If lots of others are also like me, being understaffed might make sense. If gemstore is doing fine, then it doesn’t, really.
WoW, last time i checked was just being greedy. Still has a sub and a cash shop, frak that.

They could be working on next xpack. Though that would be sad to move people from HoT upkeep to solely new Xpack stuff. But that might be the greed train running strong on most mmos these days.

They might be. I’ll tell you what they aren’t doing; they’re not fixing the bugs that stop Renewed Justice from working properly in a half dozen Personal Story missions.
No really, you probably haven’t leveled a guardian in a while, but go make one and play through. They have core mechanics that straight up don’t work in multiple personal story missions for more than 4 years ago.
So yea, I’d say they are both understaffed and misallocating resources.

I’m reasonably confident that if you present the owners of ArenaNet with a detailed plan for how you would improve on that, along with the proof that this is what is happening, they would be more than happy to consider your application to run the studio.
I would like to sign on to this. Each capital city needs to have one annual recurring holiday in it.

Agreed, and it should be something that reflects the culture and/or history of the area.
The charr could have a festival for when they overthrew the Flame Legion, with some more somber undertones of remembering those that have fallen in battle.
Expand the April Fools’ Day event to more of an “Inventors’ Festival”. SAB can still be the central point of it, but let’s see some fun stuff other asura have been working on. Open the Polymock arena for costume brawl, if there are no plans to bring Polymock into GW2. Add jump pads into Rata Sum that launch people through the open areas of the map. Cupcake golems. Whatever!
The sylvari tend to be bright and cheerful most of the time, give them a holiday that’s different. Let them celebrate the moment that Mordremoth’s voice went silent once more. A festival dedicated to introspection and appreciating the calm and peace. Gifts of flowers and windchimes, with simple food and drink.
Oh, and let’s not forget Southsun. They can have an awful festival that turns into the Spring Break from Hell.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.

I think this is the main culprit. They know the next expansion needs to be bigger than HoT was, so they likely have most of their resources dedicated to it.
If every day is a holiday, there isn’t much special, that means A-net won’t make us as excited anymore and therefore won’t make as much sales during the holidays…
But you cann always celebrate meatoberfest with the charr – always!

Most countries celebrate more holidays than what we’re talking about. The important trick is to make them feel different from each other. If they all blend together, then yeah, that’s a problem. If they feel different, with different activities an things for sale, then it should be okay.

Who knows. Maybe they’ll go for small, cheap and frequent instead.
Asura: Annual Polymock Festival.
Make it happen Anet!
