With the general pacing that we have seen in Living World Season 3 I was wondering if we can expect an announcement about the next expansion sometime soon. We are coming up on episode 4, which is likely the halfway point and if you figure 2 months between each episode it would give us about 10 more months.

Maybe there is info already out that I missed, seems like a logical question at this point though.

Yes it is logical, but so far only leaked info has surfaced.

I doubt we will see any news until we are near or at the end of S3, if anything to avoid spoilers of what is to come. HoT’s announcement came as the epilogue to S2, so I would not expect any imminent news on the expac. Anet keep their cards close to their chest, so until the time is right and no spoilers on the current content can be revealed, I expect to hear nothing for quite a while.

I expect 8 episodes in this season of living world which will take us until about September and then probably a few months wait until we get expansion 2 in early 2018 (probably January or February ). But yeah I do not expect any information at all before the end of season 3 just because of spoilers. The content drought after expansion 2 will likely be nowhere near as long as it was after HoT which is also good.

It could’ve changed with their new format, but considering seasons were originally planned to play out over a year in pseudo real time, there’ll likely only be 6 episodes at most. I wouldn’t be surprised if the 4th is the last. The living story only serves as an introduction to the expansion. Next episode Taimi’s probably going to reveal how to fight the two dragons and it’ll probably involve Aurene and some lost artifact, like something involving Glint’s old cave in the desert. They could still touch on and fill out some other things, but with the stage set, they could end with an expansion trailer whenever.

I’m not sure we can use Season 2 to gauge how long Season 3 will be. When they were doing Season 2 they finished the season and then developed the expansion (that’s why we had such a long wait). This time they’re doing the two together, and planned to do a Living Story season leading up to an expansion from the start.

My guess is we’re not going to see a long break between the end of the Living Story and the next expansion, which means the story isn’t going to end any time soon because the expansion hasn’t even been announced (we know they’re making one but that’s literally all we know, no info on when it’ll come out, where it’s set, we think we know the storyline but can’t be sure).

Which means the Season isn’t going to end any time soon, but also means it’s unlikely to be exactly 8 episodes just because Season 2 was.
