No Laurels for PvP players
What i’ve gleaned from this thread is you want special treatment for choosing not to play a large chunk of the game.
i play all aspects of the game, and think it would be a great idea to reward PvP dailies with a laurel.
Why not?
I’m contributing to all aspects of the game, I’m sure thats part of ANets goal, no?
You are also not the originator of this thread, who gives a different impression. It’s still a PvE reward, so i’m not sure why you’d want it for PvP. I don’t get glory for doing PvE things, so why would you want Laurels for doing PvP things. I don’t complain about not getting glory either, because I make the choice not to participate in PvP. That’s the crux.

Perhaps, but your impression is that he wants to get special treatment for skipping parts of the game.. Well I’d like that treatment as well, and i don’t skip anything.
I can use those rewards in WvW, which contrary to popular belief is PvP, but thats here nor there. I do think though, that if you were to reward folks with laurels for PvP, you might find more folks doing it, nothing wrong with that.

Look, the PvP players are already messing up the class balancing with their whining, ruining any decent PVE build and stopping the classes on the lower end of PvE usefulness from getting the buffs/fixes they need. Can’t PvEers have some things too?
PvE players get everything o.O
Easiest access to BiS equipments.
Easiest access to exotic armors.
Best farming methods in the game
Most content update in the game by far.
Legendary weapons are practically catered to PvE even badges of honor.
Only access to Ascended gear until recently
Compared to what Spvp and WvW players, they get a penny every hour.
lv80 Necromancer, all professional skills unlocked, working on the final norn elite skills.

yes please!!! +1
Oh, you mean the Heart of the Mists is more than just a free port to Lion’s Arch? :O
I think they limited the Laurel’s to PVE because if they didn’t then people would get a second source of Laurel’s by completing their PVP dailies. Depending on how many Laurel’s are rewarded by doing the Monthly, the item reward cost may not be “balanced” for that.
But yeah, maybe instead PVP Dailies should get their own currency and their own Reward Vendor like the Laurels, except have PVP goodies in them (in addition to the mini pets or whatever).

Sorry, but the game counts WvW as PvE instead of PvP regardless of whether it is in practice or not. So, by doing things in WvW you’re still going to get progress towards your dailies and your point is now moot.

WvW should be balanced like sPvP. Remove badges of honor and replace it with glory. Click these to together and bring laurels here as well and we’ll be fine. WvW is a sPvP thing as well. Why is the PvP maps showing WvW locations if it’s not intended for balanced wars. WvW should be about skill, not about (I got the highest level gear which I grinded for 1000 hours to get).
Point being…
1) Glory should be spread over WvW as well
2) sPvP and WvW should be a part of eachother the way sPvP is balanced.
3) Laurels in a fair amount for us to take part of too in sPvP with our dailies.
4) Glory for PvE too for killing mobs.

I believe my point was, that i think offering them for SPvP, you would probably get more folks involved in that aspect of the game, which is win/win.
But since you say my point is moot, it must be so.

Uh huh. Cause you totally mentioned sPvP specifically instead of making a case for WvW being PvP. Offering another reward isn’t likely to get people involved in sPvP the way you think it is, rather than people playing only for as long as it takes to get that reward, and certainly not with an eye towards enjoying that aspect of the game.
Some people like it, some people don’t, and i’m pretty sure the last thing actual PvP players want is people farming it just for laurels. Again, I choose not to play sPvP, and I don’t complain about not getting glory.
It remains a choice not to play that. And by that choice i don’t get the rewards associated with it.
Really you just seem out for an argument more than anything by this point, and the originator of the thread has offered a more constructive response even with criticism than you have.
So to you I say good day, and may you enjoy your sPvP to the fullest.

boohoo. They added something to the game that doesn’t benefit you. Didn’t they also add new pvp stuff that doesn’t benefit those of us that prefer PVE/WVW?
Big deal!
Yep, we got colored background for our action bars. Jealous?
You can’t comprehend the jealous I feel towards the outrage of you getting the colored backgrounds while the PvE Environment remains all colorless and broken :c.
Do you mean minigame spvp? i just had a laugh, if you only play spvp you should know why.
Lol, well if you’re an sPvP only person, I doubt you play it for the rewards.
Lol this thread was obviously going to enrage pve players that are selfish. I agree with this post but it all comes down to the fact that arenanet needs to rework the PvP reward system. That’s why this thread even came up. If the rewards system in PvP was worthwile, this wouldnt be an issue. I mean you dont even get glory for your pvp daily. Pve players have no room to talk, im sorry but its true. Those who do only play spvp play for being able to pvp but also want some reward/benefit/goal to work towards. So atm, even if its as small as laurels to get dyes, it would be better then what we have.

An argument only? really? Trust me to old for that, or to even care that much.
I think it would be a good idea to reward people for doing the pvp daily with a laurel. I didn’t realize it was earth-shattering.
I’m sure actual pvpers are more interested in tournaments. Me, just having some fun with random PuGs. It sounds to me like a Spvp is a part of the game you don’t play, and are dismissive about it.
If people played it only with an eye toward the reward, shame on them for playing a part of the game they don’t enjoy, but i guess they really need that new shinny eh? And will go after it by any means neccasary. Really telling about the state of MMOs perhaps.
Maybe you’re right, the amount of threads for giving a laurel for spvp would be monumentous. People would feel obligated to do it, because they need that new “ring”.
Even if its something they choose not to do.
Ah well..
didn’t mean to get my chocolate in your peanut butter..

Rather, i’m being dismissive about you trying to make out like you have no avenue to get laurels, when you said yourself you play all aspects of the game. You of all people in this thread are only complaining for the sake of complaining when it doesn’t actually affect you.
Gotta have a laugh at the ’i’m too old and don’t care’. Don’t care enough to keep responding in a somewhat aggressive manner, eh?
You, as a player who doesn’t play only sPvP, still have an avenue to get laurels and get dyes. Anyone who plays WvW, which regardless of how in effect it is PvP, still gets them credit towards the PvE rewards and really has no valid avenue to complain.
I play WvW. I don’t care for sPvP because last I checked I couldn’t guarantee being on a team with my buddies, giving me an avenue for well-meshed teamwork, and thus is of no interest to me. Unless that’s changed, then no I won’t play sPvP. Good job on the mis-placed assumptions, though!
As someone above pointed out – the reason is probably because they don’t want players to have two avenues for laurels and unbalancing the cost of rewards in PvE. If sPvP players want dyes, yep, understandable. Same with the mini-pets. Doesn’t mean you need laurels for it. Means you need to rework their rewards system.
Whether you want to admit it or not, trying to essentially force players who otherwise wouldn’t want to play sPvP isn’t part of the many times stated ‘play how you want’. A creed that’s already under fire for the new dailies and monthlies structure. You think people are upset now over not getting laurels in sPvP? Just take a look at the forums again to get an idea of the utter rage being ‘enticed’ into sPvP would induce.
I, personally, still wouldn’t play sPvP even if they introduced laurels as part of the reward. Nor can we make valid claims i’m some special snowflake and thus the only one who thinks that way.
Not sorry for sticking my chocolate in your peanut butter. I don’t like peanut butter kthx.
Gems, Gold, Karma, Glory Points, Laurels, Dungeon Tokens, Fractal Tokens. This is too much for me to handle. It feels messy and clunky. I wish they come up with a more unified, cleaner system than this. It’s chaos!
I agree, all mmo’s fall into this when they feel too many have too much coin, that anything new they introduce they could buy it all up immediately. So they have to come up with something new that nobody has.
It happens with coin, it happens with progression. That is the main reason to get in on the ground floor of a mmo, get all the coin and all the loosely saying exploits, while others later on, can never get again.
Perhaps what you do is stay with one currency type (well known money) and just bump everything up, to re-normalize the entire base from time to time by doing that. Otherwise we get a dozen currency types which overwhelm new players and some old. Makes the game unapproachable, this game isn’t even close to the worst, but then again it’s still young, it’s on a pretty crazy pace, in 5 years will have 30 types of currency?
Perhaps a mmo should start with copper, and cooper equivalent loot, then introduce silver later, with silver equivalent loot as the norm, then gold and remove copper, then plat, remove silver, then something else. Keeping two types of coin, working on the same premise 100 lesser = 1 greater. Loot and rewards are bumped up a factor of 100’ish as well with each new introduction. Those that compiled more coin, will still have more wealth, but not uncontrollably more vs others and when the new coin grade is introduced those behind have a great chance at that point in catching up. Because every 1 now, was like 100 then, it would quickly rebalance the base.
I do feel it’s an ongoing issue with mmo’s.

No, but to be rewarded for playing the all aspect of the game is sorta nice. Its kinda like the PvE daily that rewards 25 achievment points, and the PvP that awards 4 (whats up with that?). Yes SpVp gets Glory, for cosmetic only, and thats great, but actually reward folks for doing it, as opposed to treating them like what seems to be the red-headed stepchild of the game (so far).

It’s text, guess what, you write a certain way, and say certain things, you get perceived as aggressive. Pretty basic lesson of the internet.
If discussing game mechanics is taking something too seriously, yeah okay. Whatever you need to make yourself feel like you ‘won’.
Have a good day.
i do not get Badges of Honor in PvE, so keep laurels out of PvP
i do not get Badges of Honor in PvE, so keep laurels out of PvP
Nope you don’t, but you get them for PvE jumping puzzle inside of the WvW zone. It is sad when the quickest way to acquire the Badges of Honor are not actually killing people and helping WvW but rather jumping up a few rocks.
Nope you don’t, but you get them for PvE jumping puzzle inside of the WvW zone. It is sad when the quickest way to acquire the Badges of Honor are not actually killing people and helping WvW but rather jumping up a few rocks.
This Exactly.
Is because spvp is another minigame…is another story, isnt linked like the other two ones, it has nothing to do with jealously or pve people dont wanting even if that could be true in some cases, spvp is practically another game inside, another story, you dont even need gold, karma, nothing…
If they were to add laurels to pvp dailies, that would make people which dislike spvp to do it just for the sake of the laurels…then they would complaint about it…they will say ‘’iam forced’’ and that stuff
In my case, if they were to add it, even if i dislike so much spvp, instanced minigame..which acts as another game inside the main game (like i already said)…but i would do it for the sake of laurels because i bet it will take me..30 mins
That would make 2 laurels per day by only, in anet eyes that would be too much farm perhaps…they know if they give it as currency like tokens or other kind of stuff, the laurels were going to be farmed like crazy fast, so they wanted to keep you ’’busy’’ in this goal and want to you keep playing, you could say ‘’i play spvp all day and every day’’ yeah but get the point…you absolutely dont need anything from the pve map for play spvp, i repeat is another game inside, and adding laurels to spvp daily would actually benefit pve/wvw people.
Thats why you dont have laurels in spvp.
