Q:
No response from GM's?
There is never any direct response to in-game reports. That is policy. They do get the reports, and take appropriate action. There is a special thread on the forum for reporting bots, as well. If you feel the need for a response, you must submit an inquiry to Customer Support.
Then why even have the button in the game if no one responds and nothing gets done. Is it to give off the illusion that someone gives a “kitten”.

There are many facets to the removal of bots. If they are not removed immediately or when you want them to be removed, then there is a good reason for it. It’s not just a simple task of banning a botter you suspect of botting. It’s much more complicated than that.
First they need to verify that they are, indeed, botting. If the player isn’t actually botting and are banned for botting, then that opens up a very bad situation. Another reason is the analyzation of data of how the person is botting to then implement a way to prevent that method from being used. If they are still gathering data on this method then it would be counterproductive to remove the botter before seeing how they are managing to bot.
Report the botters, let Anet do their job.
They’ve shown that they take the problem of botters seriously and have done what has been needed to prevent future botters from having such an easy time botting.
Botters are a disease.
- Banning botters without seeing how they are able to bot is only attacking the symptoms and not curing the disease.
- By analyzing how the game is susceptible to this disease, they are able to better protect it against it and similar diseases in the future.
- When a new strain (method to bot) is discovered, it will be analyzed and then treated/cured to prevent future infections of that type.
It’s not as simple as just banning them to get them out of the game. If they did that, then each one they banned would be replaced by a dozen more and the problem would only get worse.

Well, ‘calling out’ another player’s name on the forums is against forum rules and you will likely be infracted for doing that.
Making personal insults and attacks against other forum members will also get you infracted.
Your thread will likely be deleted and you will be infracted for your behavior.
You may like to re-read the Forum Code of Conduct and also the Game Rules of Conduct to ensure that you conduct yourself in a manner that abides to the forum rules.
Here are a few that I’ll bring to your attention from the list that you agreed to abide by:
- Be respectful. Be pleasant to forum members, staff members, and moderators.
- Do not use profanity, insults, or personal attacks. If you have a problem with another member, contact a moderator.
- Do not engage in staff call-outs. Using the words “ArenaNet” or any staff member’s name will not expedite the answer to your query.
- Do not submit “trolling” posts or threads. We define “trolling” as commenting in a manner intended to elicit overly strong negative and emotional responses for mere shock value, attempting to derail threads, persistently posting off-topic, or engaging in personal attacks on another forum member. Accounts made with the sole intent to “troll” will be terminated.
- Do not engage in personal attacks against forum members or in character assassination. Posts that attack another member, that single out a player for ridicule, or that accuse someone of inappropriate in-game actions will be removed without notice. In-game violations should be reported directly to our Support Team. If you believe that using the support system did not result in a sufficient or timely response, you may post your concern in the Support section of the forums.
- Do not breach the Guild Wars 2 User Agreement. Any post or thread in which a player admits to violating the Guild Wars 2 User Agreement, encourages others to violate the Guild Wars 2 User Agreement, or violates the Guild Wars 2 User Agreement itself will be removed and the forum account will be terminated.

(Just to note, the post this was a response to has been removed. Due to my failing to ‘quote’ the post this was responding to, this one persists. I’ll just leave this here though so as to encourage acceptable forum behavior in this discussion)

Bots were really rampant at one point and then there were less of them. Then they get smart and there are more of them, then Anet figures out what they’re doing and there are less of them. It goes in cycles, because botters get smarter and it takes time for the team working on it to figure out how they’re doing it.
Botters can also be using stolen accounts so banning one means they just move to the next one.
