Non mandatory subscription
Non mandatory subscription you say?
I fail to see whats stopping anyone right now from buying 1000 gems a month, every months. Thats a non mandatory subscription. You do get boons, you can buy stuff from tbe gemstore or convert to ingame gold.
So basicly… this thread is a suggestion for something that already exist and yet people are adamant about it never happening to GW2? Does not compute.
“it can bring much more content like dung”
This is one of the times when adding on just 4 more letters (really, not that hard to type) makes a proposal easier to read. Because the first thing that comes to mind is not dungeon. That takes a second read. You want what you say to be clear and not have unfortunate second meanings.
This game is almost two years old & someone wants subscriptions introduced? New content is released on a semi-regular basis now. Can only assume the developers would not be providing content if they did not have the money to do so. Which to me means, a steady income is provided through the gem store etc.
I am ok with a non mandatory subscription if there is at least a new quality dungeon every month on top of the farm content updates.
Guild Wars 2 is advertised as sub-free game
Introduction of subs, will make vast majority of players to leave, leaving the small group who want subs.
After that, ANet will close the game servers on regions with extremely low player bases. Most likely places would be EU and NA, dunno about china, korea or any others there is…
China has subs, due to ridiculous laws, because they have their own problems, and very likely, they want to uphold a positive image to outside world.
Most ridiculous law they have there (if it’s really true), is the crime related law, where you can blame anyone for a crime, if the real culprit manages to escape, even those who help out of good will…
Guild Wars 2 is advertised as sub-free game
However, as these subs give advantages over normal players, it’s even bigger no…
Every decent MMOs have limiters, for reason too.
Other being possibility of being exploited by gold sellers and such…
On otherhand, ANet doesn’t get direct profits, Gem store being one low profit for ANet, NCsoft gets them and then gives ANet budgets. NCsoft uses the profits how they plan to do, even other titles.
Perhaps only thing Subs could work, is just early access to content…
I rarely do PvP or Hard PvE, unless it’s organized.
I was thinking about adding NON MANDATORY SUBSCRIPTION to gw2
Go play on the chinese servers. They have such a model.
Monthly subs, mandatory or not, are actually HARMFUL towards anet’s motivation adding new content or patching current one. Why?
Because the revenue is static and steady, were there subscriptions, they wouldn’t need to create content, just alter existing one, just like Blizzard is doing. Seen any different true endgame than raiding in WoW? Nope.
GW2 wants YOU to choose your endgame goals. And this does not work with a subscription model, be it mandatory or not.
Counter-Suggestion: Why don’t you buy 800 gems a month and declare it a non-mandatory subscription?
