I did send the reddit link to the exploits email though, so maybe it did caught their attention and they decided to do something about it before going home for the weekend.

Basically people from all 3 servers gather in OB usually with Guardians,Elementalists and Necros, take a bunch of AoE and Retaliation then run into the aoe circle throwing all you got into it to tag other before you die, then use waypoint and jump down again. There are stories that a lot of exotics,mats and precursor were dropped. The farm was used mostly to advance the WvW rank where you need to kill 250.000 players but people slowly turned it into a loot fest. It was short tho because you could only farm 20-30 minutes before Deminished Return hits in and you would get no more loot.

So do you not have a problem with this method being used to farm the Ultimate Dominator title? Because majority of players were doing it for the title, since the loot is not really that amazing due to diminishing returns. Silverwastes/dungeons still yielded more gold per hour.

Yes, would be interesting to know if people are allowed to keep doing this for the title. I think most people went there to advance the WvW achievement and not for the loot. The WvW achievements were due to a rebalance 2 years ago and people are still waiting for the WvW achievement rebalance.

I would assume that people that keep doing it might end up in trouble, since it is rather clear that ArenaNet does not like what is going on, and it is outright stated in the ToS that it is not allowed.

The relevant part:

While participating in Plaver-vs-Player (PvP) gameplay, you will not participate in any form of match manipulation. Match manipulation is defined as any action taken to fix or manipulate the outcome of a match or alter or manipulate the rankings or ratings of the ladder. This also includes disrupting other people’s game experience by not actively participating in matches in good faith, a.k.a leeching.

Well thats a very far fetched interpretation of match manipulation. There literally is no scoring in obsidian sanctum and it doesnt stop other people from playing normally in the obsidian sanctum.

If ya’ll think most people were there for the title and not the loot then this farm will go unaffected by this change, however if it dies out it will be clear this was for the loot.

Also keep in mind some people can’t stand the SW chest farm, I personally rather farm Cursed shore or Dungeons which yields as much money per hour on average kitten chest farming.

This particular farm was slowed down by DR, but one could obviously switch from it to another farm unaffected by it till their DR dissapears

Players that did this will not be actioned, as this farm was an unintended (but inevitable) side effect of the Obsidian Sanctum map. This “farming” was not an exploit, or against our Rules of Conduct. Our rules of conduct very specifically define what would be considered a violation:

“While participating in Plaver-vs-Player (PvP) gameplay, you will not participate in any form of match manipulation. Match manipulation is defined as any action taken to fix or manipulate the outcome of a match or alter or manipulate the rankings or ratings of the ladder. This also includes disrupting other people’s game experience by not actively participating in matches in good faith, a.k.a leeching.”

Since Obsidian Sanctum does not impact the WvW results, “kill trading” is not against the rules for this map or mode, and thus this rule is not applicable. However, macroing/botting this would be (I’m watching you!).

This situation is very similar to a situation found in PvE where players continually fail an event to farm monsters. While not in the best interest of community and gameplay, the game itself lends itself to interpretation of what is allowed because of how event chains are setup.

Obviously when you put 3 server spawn points so close to each other, things are going to happen.

For now, until we fix OS…

It amazes me how badly people react when this kind of abusive behavior is discouraged and measures taken to address it.

It’s like “How dare you fix this we are using to mindlessly obtain something with little to no effort”

It’s an MMO. Not a single player game. You can’t play it absolutely any way you want. The moment what you do starts affecting others negatively, even if you are not able to see how it is affecting them, it’s time to fix things.

SUGGEST-A-TRON says:
PAY—ONCE—UNLOCKS—ARE—ALWAYS—BETTER.
No exceptions!

Offcial confirmation to continue the farm. More people are getting this title, wish I could have gotten a better experience with it by playing towards it for 2 years.

Hate to tell you this, but that doesn’t really apply. OS is a separate map removed from wvw “matches” for a reason. It would be pretty low of them to start issuing bans on that account.

Farming an exploit has been banned in the past, but farming in general is pretty heavily encouraged and has been since launch. It’s hard to call this any more of an “exploit” than the current zerg-farming-meta of EotM.

The current meta design pretty much enforces and encourages this kind of behavior in many many ways. Nothing has been done to change that, and systems which players abuse and farm only get brought back in even more valuable states.
From Labrynth farming to the Queens Gauntlet and Champ trains which were made to counter Fail Farming CS. All the way up to EotM and the Silverwastes now, where content is practically designed to cater to this type of gameplay.

I would be shocked if there is anything done about the players involved. Some mechanics changes, and some kind of deathmatch pvp will get introduced into the game in a few months to mimic it, and that’s about it.

I honestly am just dumbfounded at how you could just turn off looting and not address the fact that people are making the title completely meaningless by participating in this. Another win for farmers, and another blemish on the game.

The current meta design pretty much enforces and encourages this kind of behavior in many many ways. Nothing has been done to change that, and systems which players abuse and farm only get brought back in even more valuable states.

I’m sorry, Mr. Cleary, but… I find unfair for many players to consider this ‘title farm’ out of this rule. Even when it’s true that doesn’t affect to WvW points, to farm with suspicious methods for a title that many other players would need months or years, it’s obvious the intention is to take the easy path for earning it.

Even when the loot should be removed, the counter for this concrete achievement should be removed if you fight in the Sanctums, and only to take the WvW maps (except Sanctums, obviously) for adding deaths as right ones.

Its really just that simple.

It’s not on par with the Godskull or Snowflake exploits, as it doesn’t affect the economy, but that doesn’t make it right by any means.

If Tequatl didn’t drop any loot, would you have let TTS abuse the vulnerability glitch for easy kills and achievement farming? I would hope not. But we voluntarily stopped and let you know about it, because some of us have pride in playing the right way.

Only the best and hardcore players could get this through normal play (yes even in EotM). Being able to tag each other, and get kills over and over again, IMO, is exploiting a mechanic. It’s not on par with the Godskull or Snowflake exploits, as it doesn’t affect the economy, but that doesn’t make it right by any means.

Of course the real problem is that title is set to an artificially mega-super-silly-high value. Kinda like Yak Slapper :P
They could, for example, add a title “Centurionnaire” and assign it to someone who observed 100 years worth of sunrises and sunsets in the game. To show “dedication” of those who spent 8.328 years of in-game hours

It amazes me always again, that Anet seems to focus their “fixes” on such things like this, which are just the “evil” outcome of some issues of the game, which in fact are the real ROOT of the whole problem itself.

But instead of finally fixing the root of the problem, Anet just removes only the ugly weed that came from it, until players will find a new way to let it grow back.

problems like this will ALWAYS happen, if you give a game way too extreme overexaggerated achievement goals, that nobody will be ever able to reach in a normal gamer life, thus it will always lead into this kind of situations, that players will effectively search for ways and methods with that they are able to quicken up massively their progression speed for those achievement,s so that something, that would otherwise be undoable, will take a HUMANOUS amount of time only.

Its 2,5 years overdue, that Anet finally fixes their WvW achievements, so that they aren#t just stupid unreachable Place Holders, but in fact serious WvW Achievements, that you can also effectively earn yourself, also as a more casual WvW gamer in a humanous amount of time, which should be setup between 1-3 years maximum and not like 10 years+ of straight playing 24 hours every single day without sleep, eating, toilet or any kind of breaks in between, which is just SICK and total bad achievement design.

All it needs as a fix for OS is to remove there the loot mechanic, that will stop then automatically people there to farm for stuff and WEXP.
However, until Anet finally fixes their WvW Achievements, Kill Tagging needs to stay there.

If you practicize bad game design, one as dev should also accept it, that players will try to find ways to speed up their progression with methods, that lie in their range of what the game offers the players for options.
It isn’t so, that to this kind of farm belongs only 1 side. Not, it needs 2 to 3 sides and that is something, which needs to get organized also first, especially considerign, that no side can normally chat with the enemies via map chat, so it has to be done via external communication tools like TS servers to organize such a mass slaughter first and get them all to OS.

To be true, I heard from this kind of farm now here in the tread the very first time. When I am in OS, I saw so far never something like that happen there, just only the typical OS kill farmers sometimes that try to get some easy kills from people try want to do the Jumping Puzzle.

I wish just that ANet would do sometimes more frequently some theme based Fix Patches, like say, in a few weeks, we would see a kind of “Achievement Theme Patch”, where that Patch would be 100% focused to fix, improve or change things based only around achievements.

Sure, on first sight such a fix woulld be looking boring, but it would be way more effective to patch in such a way with focused topics, than to let the things go unfixed for very long times, because of just ANet occasionally fixing some achievements perhaps every now and then a tiny bit, but ignoring all of the rest, because it stood not in their focus and wasn’t in their priority at that moment, which feels for players at the end of the chain naturally then very disapointing and disheartening to see somethign broken for xx more weeks/months, yeah even years in this case!! being still not fixed…

ANet should fix finally

  • the Collection Achievements (Fractal Collection and that Hero Collection still don’t work and can be activated to become visible!!!)
  • WvW Achievements need finally to get toned down to a normal level
  • All other Regions need to receive also too Region Achievements, otherwise this looks totally discontinued and half heartly implemented
  • Same with Boss Achievements, the other World Bosses should also get their own Achievements like Tequatl by gettign redesigned, startign for now with for example Shatterer and Claw of Jormag or the Karka Queen and the Mega Destroyer, so that it doesn’t look anymore so discontinued and half heartely changed with the old Boss Section, which looks compared to the seperate Boss Achievements somehow now totally out of place
  • Adding alot missing Slayer Achievements (Karka Slayer, Bane of Primordus, Bane of Jormag, Bane of Mordremoth for killing all those dragon minions, ect., Demon Slayer ect.

All these things in an achievement focused Fix/Content Patch would be very gofo for the start and would help this game alot more further, than to make every few months to years some tiny barely noticeable changes and fixes at completely wrong places, which don’t fix the root of the problems, like in this case here, where it are the totally overexaggerated high WvW Achievements, which have their fix 2,5 years already overdue.

To me it seems like a simple “crying for help” situation. Look at all those suicides :P Players can’t stand those imbalanced achievements (in comparison to the pve ones) and try to find ways to get them.

That would be a funny solution, but I think Yak Slapper would be just the better solution, if ANet would simpoly reduce the ridiculous required amount of 1 Million slain Yaks down to 10000 slain Yaks and add in that amount more ranks, so that doing the 10000 kills also feels for a WvW achievement more rewarding, than the current maximum laughable 56 AP you get for it, if you would ever max it in the current form.

A silly 1000 Bandit Kills in PvE nets you in already 16 AP.
So should net you in 10000 Yak Kills in WvW at least 160 AP, if not more (200) as a little PvP Side Bonus, due to the point, that you can oftenly hit on also defendign Enemy Players, what makes the Yak Kills naturally harder, than slaying some silly PvE Enemies that have no Player Protection oftenly.

In regard of AP is currently anyways WvW the most unrewarding Game Mode from all due to the indredibly bad designed unreachable WvW Achievement “Place Holders”.
In the amount of time, where a WvW Player would have got 500 AP, a PvP or PvE player would have got in the same amount of time alreay far more AP from the Game due to the other game Modes offerign alot more Content, that rewards you with alot more and faster with alot of AP, than WvW does.
So WvW definetely needs a compensation for the lack of content that rewards with AP, by having WvW achievements with much much higher ranks, and much much higher Max AP rewards at the end of maxing a WvW Achievement, so that fulltime WvW players for example would also have a chance to get onto good leaderboard Ranks with their AP, but as it is right now, a WvW player will never have a chance to catch up in AP points for example with a PvE player due to the huge lack of content in WvW that rewards them good enough with AP for that chance to have at all.

and by that kind of ignorance that Anet gave so far WvW over the past year, a achievement fix dated for 2020 doesn’t sound so far even ridiculously unlikely I have to say so sadly

Except… in this specific case… Ultimate Dominator is actually in the right place. People got it, through playing WvW properly, as early as mid-2013. It’s definitely achievable and quite reasonably so, unlike most of the others.

In fact, that’s why people are farming it, and not any of the others. The title is actually in reach, and so some people will stoop to any means to get it.

It is the same thing with EOTM and wxp ranks. Some people are legitimate platinum and some are karma train platinum. One of these is tarnished.

My rank would be probably mithril something if i would have played normal wvw. Normal wvw i don’t waste time defending, but in EotM i often defend keep 4 hours because desolation upscaled wanna get xp. Defending is so much rewarding when enemy is desperate.

Funny how a similar farm was at Skyhammer in PvP for almost a year and gets fixed , no one got punished as well. But god forbid, this happened in PvE and got fixed significantly faster.

Back then guilds farmed 100man blobs in certain ways 2years later people farm in os with certain ways. i see no diff just that everyone agrees on it… agrees to fight or agrees to die who cares. its just a title anyways.

Will you nerf SW chest farm next? SW chest farm gave more and better loot per hour.

While dugeon path selling gives 10gold per 20 min… and sellers of dungeons paths get tons of gold.. no one nerfs this abuse right?

Wish I could get back to GW1.. PvP-GvG. It feels like we are outcasted, not desired or rewarded..

While we have other unplayable bugs and abuse that Arena Net doesn’t care about…
- Ranger pets are aggressive even on “avoid combat”… and no one cares..
- Guild AC can hit over the T3 walls in veloka WvW
- Dungeon path selling for 10gold per 20min…

SO if any of Top guilds (TA, dF, vE) scrim a not even close guild is kill trading too then cuz everyone knows whos gonna win without a single death.

sorry there is no diff. it was a farm back then and it is a farm now.

its legit as well as confirmed and sooner or later they will change the os.
