Old and clunky game system
The recent STOG video chat mentioned ANet looking into a template system. For SPVP at first as there the stats are in the amulet and armor is for show, making it less work.

It would need a little bit of work with Runes,Sigils and Weapon sets..
but I’m sure it would be easier than PvE.

I dont see how hard can it be to add a macro gear swap/ability system since every single RPG-MMO out there has 1 but gw2

It’s very easy when it’s in there from the start.. less easy to add later.. And quite a few MMOs didn’t have it.. CoH only got it years in and then only 1 additional setup. WAR and Aion never had it.
A lot of the MMOs that do have it have it as Mods rather than in the core design. Which GW2 doesn’t allow. Hell, Skyrim (I know not a MMO) which really relied on weapon/equipment swaping didn’t have it built into the main game.
BUT I would say it’s one of my top things that needs looking at along with
- Guild UI – People need the ability to tell when their guild members last logged in, whether a Guildy is guesting on another world or has moved to it permanently etc)
- Alliances – So Guilds can help each other out.
- Chat – There needs to be more chat channels available especially across zones. A lot of games have the ability to create channels people can join. At the moment a lot of maps feel dead for map chat. At the very least I would like a Server chat room for each profession, RP channel in each zone.
- Right Click targeting – Let us turn it off, it’s a nightmare.
- In game LFG – I believe this is coming, but it will really help if set up correctly.

Remember the old days?
when you had to get up from your chair and change the tv chanel?
when you had to roted the dial on a phone to make a phone call?
when you own a phone book with all your friend and family #?
when you used to have dial up internet and had to wait 20min to 1hr to log in on a weekend?Well this game system reminds me of does old days and here is why.
I enjoy how this game requires different set up to play base on the situation, so If you really want to play your class akittens full potential it requires for you to rotated gears, weapon , ability skill, pets and sometimes major skill on your tree skill. But what really suck about this is that you have to do it manually .
spending mins here and there trying to set up your caracter b/c a figth demands for you to be a close range or far distance or go def to offence or the other way around and have to do it manually make the play system feel like you are on the old days and gives a clunky feeling to the game play.
I really wish that anet make the game more 21th century like by adding macro on gear swap and ability swap while not in combat
The good old days where you did not have to aim any of your skills? The lazily mmorpger days where you berry had to think or even move your hand?

You most had been born 10 years ago b/c my old days of mmorpger it took 6 moths to a year just to hit lvl cap and if you die you would lost exp and dlvl. Took 1 to 2 years just to complete 1 gear set and the game wasn’t explain 2 you, all ability and spell had no explanation you had to figure it out.
IF you ask me your generation of MMOplayer are being fed with a silver spoon.
So dont confuse me for asking for the game to have convenience over being lazy

Yeah and what are all these graphics and UI, when I was young all we had was text. You didn’t have any of these menu, you had to remember the command to hit something and type it… OH sometimes I get sentimental about Diskworld MUD. And that also had lives, if you died to many times you were dead full stop.

But yea onlike the ignorant guy that has been posting you know what i am talking about, macro doesn’t make the game easy but it make’s the play style smooth

I was talking about the old MUDs (also refered to these days as “text MMORPGs”), which were the original Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing games. Where you had 100s of people running around a world only in text.
Though I do remember the ones you talk of.. like the NEVER-ENDING STORY… too right, I must have spent hours of my life trying to work out how to get out of the forest at the start. I don’t even think I managed to find the princess to be given the main quest.

I think I had the lowest level qualified Assassin ever.. It took a lot to work out, you needed to know the course, work out what it tested. In the end I think it was me striped down to my underwear with a couple of knifes and a pair of priests (footwear with metal plates on the bottom to protect you from caltrops, called priests because they save your soles). I had to be naked because I worked out that some of the test were down to skill level and encumberance, so the lower the encumberance the lower my skills needed to be.
Ah.. the days.
I agree we definitely need things like dual spec, outfitter, Bartender. (yes i played WoW alot but those addons were essential to gameplay and while I’m not asking for addons because that would be a bad idea for this game, i do think they need to add these to the system.)
Even LOTRO added more cosmetic outfits to their game recently, they had like 9-10 different outfits to switch between with a single click that didn’t take up inventory space when you placed the items into the outfit slots in the ui. Would be nice.

I’m totally confused. You first come in here complaining that this game is “old and clunky” because it doesn’t allow for easily set up multi-specs, gear set swapping, and instant-change of character lay out. Then you do a full 180 and insist that players of these current-generation games are being “fed with a silver spoon” because they’re too easy….. Right, so you’re not making any sense with your argument.
If you’re looking to do a comparison to a game like say Rift -set up multiple Soul tabs to swap between- the game is built that each class can have multiple roles to play from. That, like most of the other MMO’s you most likely lump into that category of having this feature, is because those games are designed around the (UN)HOLY TRINITY known as Tank, Healer, and DPS. GW2 is not designed that way, as there are no specifically defined roles of that style.

That because instead of reading what I say you are interpreting it.
There a huge difference between being easy and being more convenience.
Adding macro for you to be able to switch gear and ability doesn’t make the game easy it just make it smoother is just that simple.
I kinda like the “clunky” system. It makes me feel like I’m involved in what I’m doing, and that what I pick has a consequence.
