Opinion on the game with a lot of experience.
Smells like another burn out from playing to much with high expectations of the game they are playing.
Either get used to the game you are playing or just dont play at all. Sadly game devs these days just create the same game as some one else did with minor changes to them.
Its going to be years if not a decade to see a real game with no crap like in current mmos with automated anything and dev’s actualy standing up to the complainers and cry babies because they realy suck at a game. I realy hate this trend that devs do.
Personaly i paid for the game as is and im happy. If i dont like it i wont play it….however i will not go onto thier website and cry/complain and want things my way.
Dont like it dont play it.
At first, people were willing to grind, as long as it was part of the levelling up process and I feel it was because it felt like doing more than one thing at a time and with no DR on drops and with it being “early days” you could dismiss low drop rates as “probably mistakes”
Now one can argue easily that karma creates an environ where you’re always gaining more than just the drops etc, but lets face it the issue is Karma is either used for insanely expensive items, or garbage. There’s very little in between and the whole system seems like a great idea, that’s horrifically underused.
IS it fun to go and help my guildies level up their alts and be scaled down so it’s not a total walkover?
heck yes
IS it fun to get rubbish rewards for doing it but at the same time be subjected to the gold sink that is waypoint travel, something they can spam about like there’s no tomorrow?
Heck no.
It’s bad enough that along the way you’ll inadvertently come across the bear toting conga lines of ranger bots, even though we know they’re working on it as we speak.
But there IS something aside from these initial things that honest to god just leaps out at us
The Cash shop is filled with GARBAGE, and by that I don’t mean skins… those are what I expected to see and so far have been quite nice despite being in dire need of additions.
No I’m talking about the black lion chests and whatnot, now all philosophical standpoints and rationale of why they’re there and how to think of them, they’re that ugly remnant of other F2P MMO games, you know the type that constantly seem to want to seduce you with limited time items and advantages or something unique and useful that you can probably sell for a stupid amount of cash if you get lucky and i emphasize IF, and I know that a lot of players see these kinds of things and it inspires them with bloomin dread, I mean what about these is a good idea? They’ve been criticized as a practice for years in all their incarnations
When you overdo the RNG factors in anything, be it the Cash Shop, the loot tables or even just the crafting, you get a game that makes you feel like you’re not making enough progress to be bothered with. And that’s exactly what happens, people just stop bothering

edit cos it was just begging for an answer:

I’m not going to attack you, but you HAVE to realise that you’re part of a bigger problem in gaming at the moment.
For all the antagonism against those that “cry and complain” no one once stops to think about it, If we look at the aforementioned “TORtanic” and how it’s now going into what I guess COULD be called F2P their forums are RIFE with what CAN honestly only be considered “die hard fanboys” the game wasn’t all that bad but it wasn’t up to scratch and it didn’t innovate enough. They were adamant that it wasn’t going F2P up til the announcement, they now have miraculously forgotten that and are hailing the decision to go F2P as if it was decreed by god himself.
Basically… they’ll bloody play any old rubbish that’s thrown their way as long as it has a friggin star wars logo plastered on it. And not content with being easily pleased and pliable, they at the same time ATTACK often with ad hominem, the players that disagree, so much so many who would have stayed, left the game to escape the garbage. The same thing happens at WoW too just for those who think they escape this problem
