The virus that hit most of the world is probably coming back soon. The vulnerability is fixed but you need to have your system(s) up to date.
Good luck.

The vulnerability was fixed months ago (mid Martch) as long as you kept your system up to date. Well unless you are still running XP, 8 or Windows server 2003, Microsoft just released a patch for those “dead” (in terms of support) OSes.

Many people apparently do not update, reason why so many computers (not just company computers) where hit. If someone sees this and updates that would normally not that is one less vector for the virus to propagate along.

Instead now windows 10 updates are mandatory regardless of whether they break drivers and such things.

Here’s a couple articles about what I assume the OP is referring to: http://www.latimes.com/world/la-fg-global-computer-virus-20170513-story.html
http://money.cnn.com/2017/05/12/technology/ransomware-attack-nsa-microsoft/

This may allay any initial panic/fears.

Also, here’s a link to download the MicroSoft Security Update (only) for those interested: https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/msrc/2017/05/12/customer-guidance-for-wannacrypt-attacks/

Good luck.
