After seeing that finishers are less than 30g on the tp, I can stop worrying about the keyfarm effect. Seems there are more than enough people buying keys for real $ or with big losses for gold.

Edit: sry^^ I come to the conclusion because it’s the first ‘new tradeable’ item added to the blc chest. So their tp price is mostly determind by ‘keys’ gained after the nerf (ok, might be that some farmers saved their keys, but I think if someone saved them that kind of person wouldn’t probably use it right now). So even if we guess that finishers are not wanted or not ‘rare’ drops (like ticket scraps) the price is still very low compared to their gem value.

Might be that I have a logical flaw, feel free to pin it^^

This is probably why the changed key farming, so the finishers would have worth, and so the people who bought them for gems, wouldn’t have a hissy fit.

Not sure why that’s your conclusion. Could be just that finishers aren’t coveted by players.. especially since tons of them were recently on sale for really cheap.

There is. Finishers are just a byproduct of scrap farming, and one that doesn’t have much demand, at that (basically, they matter only for people playing WvW and/or sPvP, having no use in PvE at all). Thus, the people that dropped them do not value them that much themselves, so they are more willing to sell them at lower prices. Now, if suddenly the demand for finishers spiked, then the prices would follow suit, but rarity itself is not the only factor.

Basically, it’s the Dusk vs Carcharias case. The rarity is equal, and yet the first is extremely pricey, while the other sells below the forging cost.

That’s because while lot of people are after Dusk, almost noone cares about Carcharias. Just as almost noone cares about finishers.

Actions, not words.

Was the reset for the level 10 key shifted? I just did a level 10 chapter and got no key.

Right click your GW2 shortcut > “Properties”
“Shortcut” tab > “Target”
Add to the end " -bmp"

Probably. They’ve never given a reset time for keys but we figured out its the same as the guild mission reset time. I think that was changed to Monday with the expansion. There was a red post about it a month or two back.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

Now serving three types of cheese to accompany all this whining ..

Of course I realize people cry about change because they feel they are cheated out of something … Egads! I tried key farming and found it to be a losing proposition. I had a stack of chests and did the math and considered it far more cost effective to roll a key runner than to drain my bank account … While I could get a key every twenty minutes during my run I usually got two or three more chests … I was actually going backward, so after I accumulated another half stack of chests I abandoned the idea of key farming …

…and to address those people who claim they only have seen very few key drops since the beginning all I can say is kittens to be you … I have got at least one key a month (mind you, I get about five chests a week) and often for doing minor things, like killing a river skale … It’s always unexpected but always welcomed …

Sometimes people know about what they write. You should speak with one of these people. Fact is: You won’t get a key/month. Map reward keys are not part of the ridicoulus rng.
- If you don’t want to get all blc weapons for achievements, good for you. If you don’t want to achieve/get ingame content like these achievement, good for you.
- If you think others are “whining” because they want achievements and the content reachable, good for you.
- If you don’t want to play for fun but instead want to grind (like in every f2p asia grinder), good for you.

Sadly, I don’t want/like any of the above.

You can open 50 Black Lion Chests and get nothing but junk.

Black Lion chests & keys are only in this game to get players to blow $100 for a 00.01% chance of obtaining that rare new shiny or in some cases a 00.001% chance for a old shiny.

Given the low odds of obtaining anything nice the keys should be obtained through personal story’s as often as you want as well as a weekly log in reward and rewards for certain weekly events.

It wouldn’t harm key sales as players still won’t get what they want anyway and it will only encourage people to buy them once they get the “open black lion chest” fever.

I honestly think this change was motivated by greed and the drop rate won’t have been increased more than 0.03%. This all ties into what we are seeing with dungeons being nerfed and fractal rewards being gated behind HOT.

It’s all about the in game store.
