I understand the idea of exclusive stuff to a year. But the fact that in 2012 it was all RNG and gold was a lot harder to get, meant that the skins weren’t always available to players.

So I ask to please bring them back this year. Even if they have to be in the Gem Store. Or worth 10 claim tickets. Please just have them available.

Especially the Greatsaw skin.

I think they should too. especially if they are going to re-release everything else. Why are some halloween items exclusive but others come back? It’s stupid… Like devil horns was 2012 for example yet they bring it back and not the other stuff.

They are bringing the weapon skins back, in limited number. Go check out the nice little skritt who wants shiny candy wrappers in LA.

They’ll basically raffle off 100 Ghastly Shields/Greatsaws, and 200 of each of the other skins it looks like.

Really disappointed that the skins are not back. Wait one more year to get disappointed again?
If you’re not going to bring the old stuff back then please at least bring in replacements of similar quality! Retexturing items like cats and introducing as new content? really?

In fact it is LESS of having to go to the gem store now than it was back then, because back then you HAD to open Black Lion Chests in order for a shot at them. Now you just need to play regularly and have a rather high chance to get the items needed to barter for it.

I don’t think you understand how this is working, it’s not an increasing chance at a continually growing amount, it’s a raffle. There are only 100 of those available for each skin among the three millionish players participating in the event, and 1 wrapper is equal to 1 ticket.

Huh. Never thought I’d actually see an in-game raffle. I’m not fundamentally opposed to it, although I would have preferred a way to earn the skins directly.

Anyway, people here have mentioned that you don’t need to spend gems to get the Foil Wrappers. Can you provide more info here about how these wrappers are obtained?

I am not sure if people have simply missed it, but shiny candy wrappers do drop as a random rare loot (or from the tot bags, not sure).

Yes, chemiclord confirmed it in the other thread. You can also get them from ToT bags.

So while I know people who REALLY want the skins won’t be happy there isn’t a way to directly earn them, for everybody else, just do your normal activities and participate in Halloween. Turn in the Foil Wrappers, and then wait to see if you get lucky at the end of the event. You never know, you might get a massive windfall.

On the face of it, that lottery is illegal in the UK.

Real money lotteries/raffles must be licensed. To have a give-away without lottery licensing there must be a skill aspect for all participants. Alternatively ALL people must be able to get a free entry – which is how raffles on packs of cereal etc are usually handled.

Many broadcasters have fallen foul of this with their premium phone-in lines. Mind i’ve no idea how, if at all, these things apply to online games!

Old military saying: Compromise is not when everyone is satisfied, but equally unhappy.

Unfortunately I don’t think GW2 is going to do so well when the ideal relationship between ANet and its customers is that of mutual enemies. Their income is directly proportionate to the majority of the playerbase, they need to make most players happy not just short of completely dissatisfied and a few mostly happy.

So can anyone confirm if the deathly shoulders are back, or is it just the shield/sword skins?

Some of us would like the Scythe. 1200g last I looked. A few have sold today.

What I wouldn’t like is a lottery for a chance of a scythe.

Just wanna throw this out there, you can get the Silver Wrappers from Trick or Treat bags. I have 250 ToTs from farming Labyrinth with my guild and I got 20 Silver Wrappers from them that I chucked at the little Skritt.

And later they put in a special recipe for the mystic forge where you could turn your over abundance of Mystery Tonics and Boosters into Mad King bags for a shot at them as well.

I heard someone made over 100,000g because he was in Halloween 2012, bought a bunch of shields and resold them at 2,000 gold each because of this company’s decision not to ever bring them back (instead we’ve gotten common-ragg-looking gloves for example).

He basically won GW2 because of this exploit.
Now comes Halloween 2014 and still these items are gone.

Amazing ArenaNet reward strategy right there…..

Frankly, exclusivity shouldn’t mean that you can buy a bunch of skins at 20g each, after some time be able to sell them at 10 000% return, and think you are entitled (yeah, i can use that word too) to do it with no risk whatsoever.

Not as far as I remember, nor according to the Wiki.
You could get the crafted skins yes, but not the BLC ones such as the Greatsaw and the like.

I once sold the Grinning Shield Skin for 60g right after Halloween 2012 – I thought it was a good price.

The “exotics, including Halloween weapon skins”, Dulfy was referring to are totally different skins (Arachnophobia, The Crossing and The Mad Moon).

No, you require at least one ticket. What you need is luck. And not only luck – since it is a raffle, and number of winning waffles is capped, you also need misfortune for others.

This is just another example of cash-grab.
That being said there is NO way for a hardcore player that is able to sit at home for the entire 2 weeks let a lone for a casual player to obtain any of these skins.

When systems like this raffle appear only a very few very dedicated groups will be able to have a chance at getting one of those 1000 skins.
There are shared accounts being played atm that have absolutely NO downtime. Shift-work, one player leaves the next logs in and keeps farming.

Now add in the fact that you can also get those shiny wrappers from real money purchases (in a non-f2p MMO I might add) and there is no way to ever get one of those skins.
Except maybe if you pay 1000$ of dollars. And there are players that dedicated, always.

That being said, if you are an average player and interested in making a profit out of this event then there are other methods, dont fall for this obvious money sink trap.
If you are interested in one of those skins the best bet is to just save your gold and buy it some time later this year off the TP.
Currently its possible to make around 20gold per hour. A lot more if you consider all possible ways of gaining profit out of this years event.

Of course there is a slight chance to win if you only submit 1 ticket. But lets be honest, its like playing the lottery. No “realistic” chance.

I was just wanting to post that because there are certainly some casual players buying TnT bags for 100’s of gold now. Going complete broke with no realistic chance because whatever the quanitity of tickets they will get its not going to be enough.

This raffle system Anet is doing is just crap….no other way to put it…one ticket or a thousand tickets…as many people already said its luck…skins like these should just be on BTC
