Guild Wars 2

As a young writer, I like to create video game personas that model and mirror the characters that I create (as closely as possible, what with the racial and visual limitations of the game engine and all). The art style that I imagine my own world in was inspired in part by the beautiful painterly art of Guild Wars 2, after all.

Just revised the cultural image behind my fictional world to something more practical (though still ornate and stylized), and so I gave my A-team a bit of a redesign in order to reign them into that. And the results were fantastic.

Up first, we have Etheus, a ranger and explorer with complex motivations and a peculiar talent for manipulating his own soul into various shapes and even separate beings. His combination of Falconer’s, Strider’s, Koda (leggings), and an Ascended shoulder gives him a truly awesome look. He may well be the most badarse trenchcoat character on the server, if I do say so myself.

Raeth’s look has been revised to fit his character better. He is a brilliant scholar and ruler. Unfortunately, his darker past came back to haunt him when Hildegard came for his blood. She failed in that task, but he was forced to abandon his throne. Now he spends his time evading her and brushing up on magical and martial skills he’s been neglecting for centuries. Uses a combination of Whispers, Phoenix, and Exalted.

Amaranth wasn’t revised from her previous posting, because she’s a more recent vision than the previous versions of my other toons, and she still fully fits into what I want her to be. This curious traveling knight, illusionist, and passionate singer was destined to win the heart of Etheus and become his romantic lead. I still enjoy this combination of body features and armor for how expressive it is.

Hildegard finishes off the cast on a bloody note. Once idealistic, she is now violent and vengeful. Her goal in life is to kill Raeth for a past wrongdoing. She’s unfinished, so this one is just a preview, but it’s pretty spot-on to what I want for her. A combination of T3 and T1 Norn with Koda gives her a simple and practical leather with steel makes her look dangerous and alluring.

For my warrior, I just tried to go for something that didn’t look super bulky.
For my thief, I wanted something that wasn’t the usual hooded ninja/assassin,
and go for something a little more unique (Still thinking about adjusting some of the dyes).

This is most of my team of 80s, the other two wear full sets or outfits.

Not really. I had to look up to see what a Radagast was. : ) Recently I realized I could go to a BL armorer to get an exchange for the missing town clothes. I got this hat and a pair of devil’s horns. I decided to try the hat on this character. I think he looks like a gnome.

Updated Edana’s look, got tired of the generic fire mage look.

The goal here was a more celestial look, to achieve this I used silver, regal and antique gold for the dye.

The armor pieces use are:

Magnus Right Eye Patch

Student Mantle (Shoulders)
Seer Gloves

Ascended boots, top and pants.

As for the weapon, it is the zodiac staff.

Nice, its hard to break away from the fire theme for light armor and this looks great.

Thanks! It took me a while to find a look that blended well across armor types. Finding a medium chest piece that wasn’t a trench coat or butt flap was a pain.

Head: Heritage Mask (no other option for me. this is THE mesmer headpiece)

Gloves: Vigil
Legs: Vigil
Boots: Zodiac (suprisingly, the spike doesn’t clip through the legs!)

Note, I did want to use the ramparts head, but the broken eye just always got to me.

If there is any Norn that will break Jormag’s tooth, it will be Alpha Centauri the warrior.

Tweaked Etheus with some new armor pieces and he’s looking better than ever.

(Falconer’s Coat, Arah Gloves, Ascended Shoulders and Boots, Seeker’s pants, Strider’s Mask).

I just use the Draconic Gear for everything except the Leg Plates and the Chest Plate which are Gladiators.

The many looks of my ranger Nymeriali, here they are in order:
1. PvE and main set that fits lore, with theme of long dark blue leaves with green stripes.
2. Acolyte of Dwayna set, with all Dwayna themed gear and Zodiac to create non-human (sylvari) being.
3. Acolyte of Grenth/Demon Hunter set, my current favourite, with gear that’s more metallic than leathery like medium gear usually is.
4. Fancy set, with monocle and female tuxedo (Anet pls add medium armor high heels).
5. Masquerade with a touch of trickster, with the Viper gear giving some indication it’s not entirely made for parties and that she’s slippery like a snake :P.
