Hate to bump this.

Keep legenaries legendary.

Please get this right at once, there is absolutely nothing legendary about RNG. Period. As simple as that.

Wanna know what is something that could qualify as Legendary? Beating Liadri. Beating her using 8 light orbs. Beating her with 8 light orbs and 5 debuffs, Beating her using a staff as an elementalist. Now THATS worth mentioning, that makes you relatively good.

Throwing 400 gold into the Mystic Toilet and getting nothing while someone else throws $500 or 16 rares and get a precursor has no merit nor any “legendary” status.

Please get out of your as….w/e

As I eagerly started to watch the stream I couldnt help but wonder what newly materials were being introduced. With the newly added 500 crafting you could only wonder if maybe, just maybe AT LAST precursor could be crafted!

To my bitter surprise no mentions of it during the ascended crafting walkthrough, but I feared not! I still hoped that maybe on the next part; legendaries, the wonderful news would be given! A big annoucement on PAX, what else but the pinnacle of beautifully crafted weapons which we call Legendaries, nothing else but craftable precursors could be the major highlight!

Oddly enough, no mention of it during the legendaries. By now my hopes were starting to feel betrayed, how could something so important pass someone’s mind? Then it hit me; best for last!!

So i kept watching, and watching, and watching and watching.

“Do you have any questions?”

With a knot in my throat and a tear nearing my eyes, I faintly type on the chat;

“….but, what about craftable precursors?”

And there she stood, like a loving and caring mother whose 5 years old had just asked “Mom, whats the meaning of life?” There, perplexed as if it was a new topic, as an adult who still hasnt found their own meaning she answered;

“Earlier this year we mentioned craftable precursors, I dont know much bout it but it is not coming anytime soon”

And thus my hopes to craft the only thing that kept me playing this game vanished, having spent over 12 months and several hours/gold into getting through the vile and corrupted Zommoros. There he stood, watching me with sadistic pleasure as I convert yellows into yellow and orange into what seemed greens.

Good job ArenaNet team, a small disappointment to say the least.

Thanks for nothing.

Go buy a legendary luck booster that boost your RNG luck to 100% when ANET puts it on cash shop next year.Itll make sure you get a precursor

I’m sorry but precursors are hardly based on “effort” when it just comes down to luck. Like many people of this thread of said, there are people who have done over 600 mystic forge tries and got nothing. I didn’t even spend any gold on my precursor. I used my karma and bought 20 rare daggers from the WvW karma vendor. I got spark on my 3rd try in the mystic forge.

Effort? Oh Please.

Lets turn gold to cash

8000 gems is about 300-400 gold

So dusk costs around 225 USD

Then you have all the rest of the mats to acquire, including 3 that are already a natural gold sink. 120 gold means 2200 gems (35 USD)

Then the dungeon time gating, lodestones (take time)
T6 Inscription mats (Blood, Claws, etc).

There is no reason whatsoever a precursor should cost more then the mats required to make the legendary.

Ive said it before, The yearly birthday gift should have had a ticket to acquire a soulbound precursor.

Whats this focus on Legendary meaning some elitist ingame player? Legendary is just an item classification that takes some work getting but anyone should be able to get it, period.

Legendary was never meant that the player was good/better than anyone else. Its just an item that takes some time to acquire and there’s nothing wrong with that. If you feel that there should be items in the game that are exclusive for a select number of people then 1) you are in the wrong game and 2) these should NEVER have a stat/game advantage (i.e. liadri mini etc….)

Not sure where this idea of crafted precursors came from. I heard talk of a scavenger hunt type quest to get one (I’m thinking something along the lines of the black moa chick in gw1 … but harder), but I can’t say I’ve seen any hint at all about crafting one.

Even that was made clear it wouldn’t be in for a long time, and as it wasn’t mentioned in the “Here’s what we’re going to do this year” announcement, it probably won’t be until next year at least.

If you don’t want to MF, don’t. Just save up and buy the thing like everybody else.

As they are now, precursors are essentially just a second Gift of Fortune. You either need good fortune (luck) to get one as a drop or amassed fortune (gold) to buy one off the Trading Post.

Crafting a precursor is a step in the right direction (though I’m sure it will be time-gated to hell), but I’d rather them somehow be linked to the Personal Story. Currently, Personal Story is the only aspect of the game involved in creating your own Legendary weapon.

Converting cash to gold when the rates are favorable will skew the comparison you’re trying to make.

On average, Dusk has accounted for roughly ~40-50% of the converted gold cost of a Twilight, not including Clovers or Gift of Mastery (expenses).

Ive said it before, The yearly birthday gift should have had a ticket to acquire a soulbound precursor.

“Wait to win” ? Maybe for a wood or tin birthday.
