Hi,
i have no idea if the Anet dev. have played the game and tried to craft one legendary weapon but the part of the crafting where you need the precursor ir just a bad joke.
Getting the T6 Materials and the mystic clovers was time consuming but it was a pretty step forward progression and it was actually fun to do it and the same with the rest of the gifts you need for the legendary.
However the precursor is something totaly different. I have tried my luck with 200 exotic lv 80 items today and no precursor and i have done it with 300+ lv 80 exotic´s befor so over 500 exotic items of the same type and not a single precursor and i can not tell if ill get one after putting 500+ more exotic in the mf and i have done atleast the same amount with lv80 rares.
I could farm another hundreds of hours and just buy the weapon from another player but that would mean that everything i have done befor was simply for nothing and wasted time,energy and so on and i would feel even more like a loser.
Every step to creating the legendary is well thought and designed except this part.
Bad job anet really bad job.
Sorry for telling you but hey you make me feel bad too for spending kitten tons of time and achieving nothing,zero,nada,nichts…
Plus i would feel even worse if you update the game and make getting the precursor 5times easier in the future and would feel kittend for wasting so much.

Ouch; that’s a real drag, to waste so much money/time without anything to show for it. Even if it cost more, I think I’d have to play it on the safe side and just buy a precursor before I’d gamble on it.

Of course, the prices are so high that it’s turned me off ever making a legendary weapon, unless they implement an easier way to get a precursor or one just drops into my lap by chance. Even if I lucked into a Dawn or The Legend, there’s a very good chance I’d just turn around and sell it: With the mountain of gold I’d get, there’s very little (other than a Legendary) that I’d want that I couldn’t afford. (Dyes, infinite tonics, gem store items, etc.) Heck, I could afford to master all of the Ascended Crafting disciplines with that kind of dough.

Tough luck, my friend. I tried 250g worth of rares + exos few days ago. Results: nothing :/

Anet please make precursor something that we can craft.
Anyway making a legendary is very hard and time consuming prior to the precursor.
we need full world completion, lots of karma grinding, a lot of gold for the gifts and t6 mats, so please make it craftable.

The funny thing is they already claimed to be working on precursor hunt back in 2013 January.

Honestly, how hard could it possibly be to add a precursor in Laurel vendor, 1 precursor 100 Laurels.

Now, explain what happens after a few hundred thousand players all buy a precursor at once and need 250-unit stacks of various crafting materials to complete their Legendaries, completely draining the TP of all such crafting mats in about ten minutes and shooting the price for new mats up 10,000% in less than a day.

I think precursor shouldnt be sold for laurels but should be crafted with 500 in weapon crafting proffesion, that will require grinding too like the other gifts but cmon 1000g in TP? thats just wayyy out of hands.

…People that don’t have A.D.D. or some sort of obsessive disorder just wait for price to fall as supply recovers. The problem really is the horrible drop rates that motivate people to use the TP instead of just farming the material through “enjoyable” game play.

Lol they should add fishing and make it another way to get a precursor.

The mystic forge is a gamble. When you gamble you should be prepared to lose everything and not care. Any logic that concerns winning back the lost money, or making the lost money worthwhile, is false. The lost money is gone. You can only make more gambles or decide not to gamble again.

I expect the OP is angry because a lot of time spent chasing a virtual reward in a computer turned out to be worthless. That is only result the ever happens though, and the OP found it out sooner rather than later.

I think they are good now , if they were more easy to get , everyone would have a lengedary right now and the legendaryness would decay with the time

I think the best solution to this big problem is to put more lengendaries

to be exact~ A twilight arbor party kicked me for moving too fast so I went over to CoF and looted it asap. I was happy to have been in that argument just moments before.

make it an account bound, 10k cheevo reward. problem solved

Got another 300g now..resiously thinking about doing the gamble again and it will be the last chance..if i fail than ill take a loooooooooooooong break
i would have to save another 800g if i refure to gamble..and by that time the pre would cost 200g more..
any tipps for me ?

If you would have saved the money in the first place you would have already had your legendary.

I don’t think grinding 500-800 gold was intentional by design.

Do it. On a character below 80 using crafting booster.

You’re joking? The prices are at the very least 800g, The Legend has skyrocket to about 1400g as of lately.

I’ve been forging my rare weapon drops for the higher priced or personally-desired mid-priced precursors, and any exotics I get out that sell for under 3g I turn around and roll again. I estimate about 500-600g worth of rares and exotics flushed since I started doing it, and only recently have I gotten something out of it: Dawn from four rare greatswords. Considering the price at the time, I made out like a bandit, not adjusting for gold inflation.

how about arena net at least cap on price for precursors…like you cant put more than 500 gold pricing list on specific types of 14 weapons (mace,shield,sword,gs,hammer,axe,spear,trident,focus,pistol,rifle etc precursors) to prevent it of going to high like 1400g mark….

this game lost all my support. I dont even care if they release a new way to get precursor since i would still feel like a loser and the other players would get that item much easier while i got nothing for spending hours to farm for rares and waste them to get NOTHING!
They better give us who used tons of gold and failed to forge the precursor ,something in return so we dont feel like baboons.

yea sure we are not in vegas and we talk about guildwars2. The only real end goal is to craft a legendary and the main part is based on gambling sure but if they release a new and safe way than they still should give us something in return since we had no other choice..ofc if you believe in unicorn than you can always hope for a precursor to drop from loot but yea you dont believe in unicorns do you?
And saving gold for precursor is madness since the price is going up daily and alot of people just cannot earn 20+ g daily.

Ah, 500 exotics into the toilet. At ~1g a pop (assumption), you’d be closer to getting a precursor had you just saved your money and bought one.

But I’m sure you get that all the time.

Don’t quit now sir, after every gold you spent in the MF you will just let RNG win? Just be patient, you will get that precursor eventually.

Although If I were you, I’d stop throwing things in the MF and start saving gold to actually buy the prec.
