Precursors and TP: Farewell
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Definitely more bearable for someone that hates farming gold though, as the collections would be going to multiple areas and through different content, rather than grinding the same thing over and over again for gold. People predicted that the Mawdrey scavenger hunt was a test-run for a new precursor system, it seems like this could be it.
(edited by Lazaar.9123)
a collection system for pres is the best system
1. it allows every one in the game with 100% reliable access to a pre they want for a legendary
2. the TP flippers can no longer hold a tight death grasp around pres / those unlucky with mystic toilet
3. gives a long term goal for ppl
so ty anet it was long overdue for this. an rng based system for an item was silly
Fractal lvl 80 – 126 AR
Again, don’t be surprised if the time/commitment for finishing a precursor collection might equal or be even greater than getting the gold to currently purchase one off the TP.
But in any case I would still find finishing such collection much more rewarding and interesting than just saving up loads of gold (which is boring as hell – gold is meant to be spent, not hoarded).
Imagine the massive blobs of twilight wielding revenants roaming the lands… XD
That is assuming that the Revenant class can actually use greatswords to begin with. I know they are a heavy class so one would think it would but you never know. I will have to rewatch the trailer to be sure but I don’t recall seeing them use a greatsword. I remember seeing sword and staff though.
Prices are falling ….
The sky is falling…
OMG Panic !
I’m excited for xpac! Who’s with me?
I’m cautiously optimistic~!
Assuming current traits and new dailies don’t make me ragequit. >_>
The light of hope is a pinpoint so far away…

I’m not assuming anything will be easy. But I AM assuming most people would rather go through a month worth of quests than pay 1k gold for a weapon that you need to flush to get another weapon you actually want.
Casuals (and anyone who is not an idiot or glutten for punishment) will take the path of least resistance. If farming gold is going to easier and cheaper than the precursor collections, they’ll farm gold because it’s easier and cheaper therefore faster.
Casuals will never be able to afford current precursor prices, unless they tank severely. Collections however might be possible, even if they’ll take a loong time to complete.
Remember, remember, 15th of November

I really hate you. i dumped thousands of gold into the mystic toilet before i gave up and have yet to see even one….and thats why i love this new collection system
But remember you can only get one precursor of each weapon type per account via collections. If you want another Greatsword, back to RNG drops and the MF.
RIP City of Heroes

majority use legendaries for their looks, not their stats, meaning that your average player will either juggle one weapon trough alts or will transmute the skin onto something not as legendary.
A very small percentage of people actually feel the need to have legendaries so that they could switch stats on the go and I don’t know how often these people actually alt.
So yes, it’s one per account per precursor, but that should more than satisfy the majority of the population

What does your post have to do with his or did you accidentally quote him by mistake?

But they are coming out with additional precursors which I would imagine be paired with additional legendaries for each weapon type.

well he implies that people will want more than one of the same type of legendary, I merely point out that people that do feel the need for that, instead of transmuting, will be in the minority, meaning that while his post encourages the stability of the precursor market, I point out that the amount of consumers will still fall considerably, meaning that it won’t be as stable.

which you will also be able to get trough collections. It’s not one precursor per weapon type, but one unique precursor per account.

He was talking about weapon type as in greatsword, dagger, sword etc. If it’s only one precursor per weapon type, a player would have to make a choice between dusk, dawn, and whatever the new greatsword precursors are.

It seems as if we will be able to get all of them via a collection.
There will be a unique collection for each of the precursors, including the existing precursors used for the legendary weapons currently in game. “You will be able to build every precursor, unlock all of them in your wardrobe and eventually unlock all of your legendaries,” Colin said, “if you are so inclined.”
Yep. I imagine it will be an incredibly grindy, time-consuming journey (at the bare minimum, I expect each Precursor’s collection will be on par with what we did to complete Bioluminescence), but at least there is now a fixed, reliable path players can go down. They won’t be beholden to the gods of RNG anymore.

Yeah it looks like that will be the case.
People are actually sad about this? This is great.
Only the greedy kittens who got the prices to this ridiculous level in the first place. I hope they get stuck with their legendary/precursors now, since anyone with some savvy will not even consider buying these until the Xpac drops. Let the vultures go hungry.

Pretty much this. Though, the precursors are still slowly dropping further in price.
What happened to me yesterday…
I crafted huntsman towards 500 by the creation of giver’s torches. I created around 15 of em and got there. Then I decided to throw them all in the mystic toilet. After 3 attempts, Rodgarths Flame popped up; not the most expensive one but still, a prec.
In told my guildmates (GotD) and received the gratz.
Then, i decided to test my luck and bought 23 shortbows..named ones (Droknar’s Shortbow). After few attempts I received…The Lover! Unbelief at my fellow guildies of course..not in the least with myself.
Then I threw in the remainder of my shortbows..last attempt..
Another The Lover
So 3 Precs in about 8 minutes !
Still cant believe it : But I sold both lovers and netted a nice heap of gold..
But it made me think..is it possible that prec drop rates are somehow connected to the fact that the expansion will provide precs? And/or that precs are dropping in price like mad bcause of that ?
P.S. I actually joined that guild JUST before I went to the MF…they hate me now.. XD

If everyone dont’ keep bumping the price of tier 5 and tier 6 material, none of it will happen.
People act like they are not part of the problem.
I paid 22g for my precursor, so I really cannot relate. :P

Sounds like the Guild Wars 2 equivalent of a letter to a “mens” magazine that starts “You won’t believe what happen to me …”.

You’re a minority, luckily new precursor collections will work for a large amount of player.

You may want to look more into why the prices are why they are. It’s not because of sellers trying to manipulate the market.

Most of the precursor come from the forge. If the guy is not happy with the price he should throw thousands of gold into the forge himself.
I don’t know why people always think some market manipulator cause the precursor price to go up. There is just not enough dusk/dawn/incinerator/the legend/zap drop in the open world to support all the people wanting it. Mystic forge is the only solution, and it ain’t cheap.

Got 4 (guild record by now) guildies getting pres from Mystic Forge, did they also increase drop rate from MF? Meanwhile, prices going down. Buying at this point would mean losing gold, I guess.
