The Xunlai Electrum and Crystalline ascended mats have been in the mat bank for a long time now (6+ months). I remember the speculation as to what they were used for when they first popped up in the bank, ascended jewelcrafting being the most popular theory. Why is this just suddenly popping up as a prediction for tomorrow’s patch, which isn’t even a feature pack but an LS episode, especially since Anet loves hyping this stuff and there has been been no mention of it whatsoever?
I was assuming this because each ascended crafting material (dragonite, empyreal, bloodstone) which is acquired through specific activities (world bosses, dungeons, champ boxes respectively). So I assume raids would be the 4th activity, awarding crystalline ore, this in turn would allow for ascended crafting for both Jeweler and Chef. Of course if the raid doesn’t happen all the other predictions fall apart because they all rely on it. It has also been probably 3 months since they hired their raid designer, linked in my original post giving them time to design this raid for a finale of season 2.

Do not hold your breath waiting for Jeweler to go to level 500. They sort of boxed themselves in when they put the Ascended rings and trinkets on a vendor for laurels and removing them from the vendor or making them obsolete would remove a sink for those laurels. That is my guess on why jewelry has not yet been pushed to 500. For chef there is the problem of foods becoming too powerful and a total revamp/scaling of the current foods would have to be done first which would upset too many people.

Oh, almost forgot: and with chef at 500 will be able to craft an ascended ale called ‘No Return’.
I am hopeful though. It’s obvious that ANET is going to announce their alternative to a boxed expansion, and I’m anxious to see what they’ve come up with. In the long run, ANET has yet to disappoint me.

Did the topic title change? For crafting there will just be the two remaining pieces of carapace armour. People will be annoyed when they each require three mordrem parts of every type.
Jewelcrafting and cooking 500 won’t come until a feature pack. It should have really come out in the last one, so I assume they have not figured out how they want to do it, which means the ETA is around the same time as precursor crafting (ie maybe never, but there is still the outside chance of next feature pack).
