Publish the Odds
Truth is the killer secret of all great business practices.
Also, infracted for that post? Poor vayne.
I get infracted all the time. It shows the mods ARE unbaised.
This is as fair as expecting the players to report any interesting and potentially game-affecting things we find.

It would be best if they are responsible and share the knowledge, right? It’s no less than what they ask of us.

Guys please don’t make this an us against the mods thread. The mods infracted me for breaking forum rules, which I did. They were well within their rights. They left the post up, so let’s stay on topic.
There were threads yesterday trying to collect data on average chances for things to appear from the boxes. By now, tens of thousands of these boxes must have been opened — large enough for a sample size to give you approximate data. And hasn’t the wiki been collecting data as well? Why not just go with those tables?

Nevermind. While you’re at it, post the source code for GW2. Nothing less will satiate the masses.

The problem is, to go with those tables, someone has to buy boxes…without knowing the odds.

I guess that’d be fair, if it were the only way to obtain them.
I don’t know. Maybe I’m just not seeing the point because I think the Jade weapons are ugly.

Whether they’re ugly or not, this isn’t about jade weapons. It’s about every weapon ticket in every RNG box since the fused weapons, which weren’t ugly. Actually I’ve liked some of all the weapon skins in all the boxes and I have none of them…because I don’t support RNG.
If I new the odds, I might dabble. Without knowing the odds I won’t dabble.
I totally agree with Vayne… Never tought i’d seen that day, lol.
Begrudgingly, I agree with Vayne as well. Never thought Id see the day, but the man has a point. If the current trend of gear “progression”, even if it is cosmetic, is to be driven by RNG, lets see what is really meant by rare. A chance at a precursor…is that 1 in 10,000? A chance at a skin. Is that 1 in 5000? Last night alone, in 1 hour of play, I opened around 50 coffers. Nothing but candy and some fireworks. Wasted time, and if I had spent $$ to purchase with gems, it would have been wasted money as well.
Looks like something we can all agree on, for a change… I agree its not a rare chance at all, its a downright impossibly rare chance, at least if you’re gonna have RNG junk be honest with the drop rates…and your customers.

Which is fine i don’t like the weapons much myself, but wait until they do it to stuff you DO like in the future, as this is here to stay, the same can’t be said about the GW2 populations if these scams are here to stay..

In an astounding change from my usual RNG, I got a ticket when I opened 40 rich coffers. I may be seeing patterns that aren’t there, but I swapped to a low level alt for the last 10 chests and it was in those. I usually get more dyes, bonus items from dailies, and so forth, if I am on an alt less than level 40 or 50 or so. I’ve made a point of opening black lion chests on lowbies. It really does seem to work.
I’ve noticed when we ask pointed questions about the RNG lockbox system or call for its reform or disposal, typically the response is silence. It oddly reminds me of this scene .
I’ll use the generic word, “Company” below to avoid calling out the entity that does things that are Not Cool.
(Happy, smiling player is standing somewhere in the beautifully prepared world of Tyria talking to a representative of The Company)
Player: And my chances at winning? After I give you my money, what are my odds of winning?
Them: …
Players: Uh….Company?
Them: …
Player: Company? You’re scaring me…
(Player pays anyway. There is a moment of darkness. Player opens its eyes to find it is now someplace strange…)
Them: Welcome home, Player.
(Watch the video, you’ll understand. Don’t watch if you’re easily disturbed or have a weak stomach)

If they do this…and it would be a horrible idea if they did…..then they should also publish the loot tables and percentages behind them for every single mob and chest in game. It’s the exact same logic. If player A wants to spend x amount of time or money doing x content then they should know the odds.
I agree with OP.

I would be against that. I don’t want them to tell us the odds of anything dropping from enemies in the game. ONLY the chests (and related things, like the mini-pet 3 pack) you buy from the gem store.

I am neither for or against, but if they decide to publish the odds on one thing you can be sure people will want the odds on everything else.
One thought- JCpenny. Some of you will get this reference.

Yeah, that has occurred to me as well. But if they want to push RNG for cash off on us, they’re going to get upset people either way.
