I would still rather see the leaderboard be about ‘achievements’
A guy with all legendary or a WvW title/high pvp rank should be at the top not someone who logged in each day and did all the dailies..

I’m willing to bet the guy at the top will have multiple legendaries, thousands of gold in the bank, and a high WvW title (more likely than PvP I think).

In a year or two, the leaderboard will likely have more people who have frequented their dailies the entire time. Right now, it won’t make that big of a difference. The people with the highest achievements are going to be the people who have been playing the game like maniacs. The number of achievements you can get from dailies is small compared to what you can get overall. So if someone logged in every day for 30 minutes to do dailies and did nothing else (or very little), they would only have 2-3k achievement points (with about half of these being provided by dailies). I think once we actually SEE the leaderboards, this talk might stop. Because if the top 10 people have 8000+ achievement points and you have 5000, then they aren’t higher than you because of dailies.

The people who play ALL the time will be on top (assuming they achievement hunt) because the numbers they will achieve will be VERY high. In fact… I’ll do some math.

I came out to a total of 5461 by counting up all the possible achievements in the wiki (all the ones revealed so far). Assuming my math from an earlier post about dailies being worth a maximum of something like 1600, I think we can assume that just above 7,000 will be the highest.

So it will make a difference, but it’s not massive (unless they did ALL of their dailies and you’ve done none).

Getting a lot of achievement points just requires you to do multiple aspects of the game. If you do everything in the game you will have a lot more points then someone who pigeon holds themselves to one area of the game. You gotta do open world pve, dungeons, sPvP, WvW, jumping puzzles, crafting, etc… Those don’t require legendaries, high amounts of gold, or high pvp titles.

Boo hoo, latecomers have plenty chance, old players don’t play forever. Everyone quits eventually :p

If you are dedicated you should have an advantage. Who knows maybe the leaderboards might also have sections for monthly/weekly as well as all time.

This.

The Diablo 2 ladder was the same thing, and the top changed all the time.

Pretty sure that Diablo 2 ladders had periodic resets. I think that would be a good idea for these as well though that would proabably exclude achievements that can only be obtained once.
