Hi, I love this game. I will keep playing this game.
I am not a hardcore PvP’er, but I do enjoy it more than PvE, and thus it is my main focus for the next x amount of months/years.
Rank in PvP is only important enough to be able to compete against similarly ranked/skilled players. As it currently stands, your Glory points accumulate and thus give you rank based on how long you’ve been playing. Yes, yes, I know, you still have to contribute to your team and get points and kills, but that doesn’t really differentiate you from the rest of the masses.
I can go in any 8v8 PvP match and be matched up against people that are just learning their class, or get owned by somebody who has mastered their class. I don’t mind getting owned, as it is a learning tool in and of itself, but getting owned consistently by the same 8 person group while my group drops and adds members like FB is unnecessary.
I am not ashamed to admit that my random 8 person team got owned and we lost 0-500. What bothers me is that we kept playing against that same group. :/
Tournament PvP is another thing entirely, as it would be hard to match up people with similar ranks as the team can be so varied.
Money – I stated this in the suggestions forum. I started a Mesmer, got 4 copper, and went to PvP. After nearly 2 weeks now, I still have only 4 copper. :/ PvP players need a source of income because if I were to ever decide to go back to PvE (and I will), I will still have only 4 Copper compared to the rest of the players who’ve been playing Pve that already have at least 1 Gold (or so I would hope).
I am not looking to get rich off of playing PvP. People say that I should sell dyes, but I love my dyes. I’d rather give them to my alts than sell them
. I am just asking not to be left so far behind in terms of income.
Ideas for making money include selling trophies earned at the end of a match/tournament, swapping Glory points for money, earning x amount of money for winning a tournament (and other brilliant ideas that people come up with).
Skills – I only mention GW1 in the fact that it separated PvP and PvE skills. This is currently not the same with GW2. So how do they choose to balance skills? For what crowd do they choose to balance for? It’s a great balancing act (ha) in and of itself to choose who to balance for in the risk of alienating PvP or PvE players.
There are other ideas for PvP, but the game just came out, and it is still growing and expanding. I understand that. These are just some thoughts from a loyal customer.
