1/28/13 patch notes Dynamic Leveling:

" It is now possible to receive your own level of loot from any level of enemy."

Does this mean a level 80 can get high level of all loot, such as crafting mats in low level areas? Or does it mean a level 80 can get level 80 gear (armour, weapons, jewelry, gems)?

Good question .. since we already could get Lvl 80 armor and weapons in every area, even in starter areas. And also the same was already said in the last big patch i think, and i got lvl 80 stuff in the starter areas also before that.

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

Chopping down a tree in a lvl 5 area is still going to yield the appropriate level 5 wood, since nothing with respect to your gathering is scaled down. Downscaling loot refers to that which is dropped by mobs. So a level 80 gathering in Metrica Province is gonna get crap materials, but kill that level 5 firefly and you’ll get some level 80 boots.

I was playing in Queensdale on my main and on my first drop I noticed a lvl 80 white.

In the end, I got a mix of lvl 80 gear of all rarities up to green in Queensdale. I presume exotics are also on the loot table. All salvage and crafting material drops remained zone appropriate.

If I can’t play Guild Wars 2 at work, I won’t work in Guild Wars 2 either.

It’s not meant to give you lvl 80 loot all the time. The lower the zone you are playing in- the more DR you get on your max level loot. If not it would be possible to plow through low level zones, 2-hit mobs and get the same loot as a more difficult zone, but more efficient. If people are grinding which one would they pick? What they have done is simply tuning it up a bit, it’s not a U-turn.

There is still no “new” added benefit to playing in lower level zones. I am still getting the same amount of level specific gear i was getting before the patch…which was rarely.

Think you need to re-read my post or do you know what DR means? You have simply been reading too much between the lines here and all of it was not even in this patch. But there is still meant to be a difference between lvl 10 and lvl 40 for example.
That system together with the daily and monthly achievement is what they were talking about, nothing more, nothing less.

“Dynamic Leveling
Attribute calculations for dynamic level scaling have been rebalanced. In general, this means weaker when adjusted down, stronger when adjusted up. Rewards when adjusted down have been increased to compensate. It is now possible to receive your own level of loot from any level of enemy.”

Wrong. In Queensdale you were not supposed to get any lvl 80 loot. I got several greens yesterday which is a very clear improvement.

Seems to be the same to me.

I was getting level 80 loot in Queensdale before this patch, because I do remember getting some level 80 stuff a while back, and thinking to myself, “I thought we weren’t suppose to get level 80 loot here.”

I have been getting level 80 drops in Wayfarer for as long as I can remember. Its why I do my dailies there.

EDIT: or why I DID do my dailies there anyway.
