So instead of the green skill target overlay used for ranged AoE, I’m thinking of the ‘Effective Radius’ (actual tool tip name) blue rings that are applied when sharing venoms with Venomous Aura on Thief, or the blue rings that are applied around your character while holding a Warrior’s banner. Reference picture.

Now what I think could be helpful to both new and veteran players is an option for these rings to be shown (although maybe a bit more visually prominent) when you hover over a skill on your skillbar that has a radius tooltip to show that skill’s effective radius. Since ranged attacks have the green skill target overlay (to show both range and effective radius once cast) I think player based skills could at least have a go-to effective radius indicator as well.

Skills that could benefit from this include both supportive and offensive skills. For example:

  • Shouts
  • Warhorn skills
  • Venoms
  • Offensive skills such as: engi’s bomb kit skills, Thief’s Caltrops, Ele’s Churning Earth (although does already have a ring while casting it), Necro’s Unholy Feast
  • etc.

I’d personally find this useful, as sometimes I get curious about how far my shouts, Warrior’s Charge's swiftness, and Ele’s Windborne Speed's swiftness actually reach. For example I could hover over Charge while running with a party to see the 1200 radius ring around me and make sure everyone’s in range and will get the swiftness before using it.
