All games have a chance for loot that is random, however in this game decent loot is so random and rare it’s not even close to comparable. IMO the market could stand to shed a few pounds off the rarity scale.

There literally is a huge problem with the rewards. One thing for certain however is with the new dungeon, it’s actually not only fun to play, it offers some really nice rewards. Let’s hope we see more of that in the future.

Random Number Generator is random. Chance is often not understood well by non-mathematicians. This is why college courses on the subject is probability and statistics because without statistics you can’t truly understand probability.

Simple questions like “if you have a 1 in 10 chance to win an item, how many attempts would it take if you want a 50% chance of winning at least once?” The answer is 7, which seems counter intuitive. 90% chance of winning at least once, 22. 99% chance, 44. These really set your “common sense” reeling. And this is the simplest example. Also with 44 attempts you have a slightly better than 1% chance of winning 10 or more times.

This is why there’s a lot of RNG anger out there.

it’s just you. RNG stands for random number generation

I just wanted to say. There is no such thing as a true RNG. If someone plays a slot machine in Vegas. It is required by law to pay out a certain percentage over a 24hr period. It all a computer algorithm.

I bet if someone does the BLC close to the end of the servers daily reset. The odds may be higher based on if few skins have dropped earlier.

You can’t compare a video game to Vegas man. There is no law that requires in game RNG to pay you anything ever. It’s a digital dice roll.

How does Arenanet control the different drop rates of different items in BLC? If it really was a roll of the dice. Tonics would drop at the same rate as the skins.

Depends how many sides the dice has. Real dice have 6 sides, so you have a 1 in 6 chance of getting any particular number per roll. But if you rolled a 20-sided die, you’d have a 1 in 20 chance of getting any particular number. It’s 100% random, not controlled by any devious big brother, but that’s how you control the drop rate. You decide what the odds are. So a digital RNG picks a random number between 1 and 50 and you’ve got your 2% drop rate.

The RNG is not broken. It’s working as intended.

Which means the drops suck. :/

for there you have been and there you will long to return.

MF gear works, you just need a lot of mobs to get a large enough sample size.

MF gear won’t work properly in dungeons or in roaming pve. It would work in farming, like grub farming (RIP) and shelt/pen (RIP)

Yeah, it’s impossible to alter dice to make them more likely to roll certain numbers…
