I’ve played as a ranger for a very long time now, and I’ve noticed when I went to the Rangers page on the website, it said rangers can have up to two pets out at once? Can anyone tell me how to do this? Thanks.

I believe the mean out of the large collection you have 2 that can be called up immediately. Only one of those 2 at a time though.

If you’re referring to the professions page it says

Rangers are accompanied by their pets, fierce animal companions who fight at their side. Rangers can have up to two pets at their call, and they can switch between the two animals during combat.

Which means they have two at any one time they can call upon, not that they have 2 out at once.

Outside the obvious mechanics allowing you to select 2 land pets and 2 water pets:

There is an actual way to get 2 pets at the same time!!

You can have 2 pets as a ranger, at the same time, or have 1 pet as a non ranger, temporarily: It requires the use of a consumble…

Your ranger mechanics will not affect it as far as I know…

You could also get an Ember (Fire Elemental)

No added synergies with elementalist skills and options AFAIK.

Especially the fire elemental adds a small dps boost, casting 3 lava fonts at the same time.

Hopefully this will become somewhen in the future part of a kind of “Beastlord” elite specialization for the Ranger to turn them into true beastmasters, that can control a multitude of feral beasts at the same time practically, alowing to have both pets out simultanously, to be able to perform with them “Pet Combos” with either improved Shouts (Calls) becoming their utility skills and using Halberds/Spears as weapons as natural hunters that they are.
Or with Meditations that allow Beastlords to commune with nature through meditations so much, that they become one with nature and can shapeshift self into feral beasts with these skills to receive this way Were Beast Skills that replace their weapon skill bars while fighting together with their two pets out together in this form then. But with Meditations is call it then not Beastlords, but rather Shamans and would give them the Scepter then, instead of Halberds/spears.

The hyena pet can summon a hyena ally which lasts between 10 to 40 seconds.

Hyenas are weak so I wouldn’t recommend using them.

A ranger can have 5 or more pets out at one time…

Ogre runes – Summon rock dog (there’s also other runes that summon parrots)
Hyena – Summons ally
Sylvari Elite – Summon Fernhound
As mentioned above: Ogre pet whistle.

You might be able to get a 6th pet with a sigil, say demon summoning if it still exists – Summon a Flesh Reaver every 25 stacks, each Reaver lasts a minute and can summon more than 1.

It’s a rather nice PvE build if you need aggro taken off you.
