Q:
Rare nodes moving between patches?
A:
If a zone ever has zero population, the map resets — that might be what you’re seeing.
every daily reset they move
Some nodes are random whereas some always spawn in the same spot. The one’s that are random generally replenish faster than the 23-hour regular node.
I’m talking rare nodes, like ancient saplings. The locations of many things are wrong on gw2nodes currently. That site does start clean after a reset, yet many things that used to be correct are greyed out and marked incorrect. It shows others have noticed it too.
Use this site instead, it’s updated regularly and is more reliable than any other maps I’ve used.

Different way of saying the same thing but I think the map actually fully despawns when empty. That way any resource it is using can be used for maps that actually have people in it. I actually saw this happening last night for Mount Maelstrom on my server. Had the Megadestroyer pre events pushed until the last event but couldn’t get enough people to finish it. Then around 7 hours later the whole thing reset back to the start of the chain without the main event starting.
So this is also another function of server population. Of the maps with world bosses I know Cursed Shore, Malchor’s Leap, Southsun Cove, and Frostgorge Sound will not reset except for patches on my server. Well I have see Malchor’s reset maybe twice in the last 6 months outside of patches but in those cases temple of lyssa was broken for around a week. Unfortunately Fields of Ruin doesn’t empty out as often as I would like.

I’m pretty sure it is as you stated though, when there are no players the zone ceases to exist and will load a new map the next time someone zones in. It’s something to keep in mind when someone gripes on these forums about how “no one ever goes to Orr”.
I do my mapping on Orrmaps.com and have been doing it more or less consistently for about a year now. I’ve NEVER seen Cursed Shore change without a patch, and can count on one hand how many times I’ve seen Frostgorge change. Malchor’s on Maguuma went through about a month were it would change a couple of times a week then stopped.
Southsun has always been inconsistent – to the point I don’t bother mapping it anymore. It’s not that hard to find everything anyway when you a familiar with the island.

I believe there was also a period where there was a server bug causing malchor’s to crash.
For rare nodes you can also check www.gw2nodes.com
There have been other discussions on this in the past. The game is working as intended. Some rare nodes will move at different times from different events. There is no reason to worry about it or discuss it as it is normal, and has always been like this.
If the third party sites are incorrect, just tell them to get their act together as it is their problem and not GW2’s.
I read this as “You’re not allowed to talk. GW2 is perfect.” It wasn’t relevant or helpful to the thread at all, and supplied incorrect information. P.S. I will discuss whatever I feel like here in the general discussion forum.
@others Thanks for the info about the map resetting when no one is there. Since it is southsun, I guess that’s the reason. I hadn’t seen that celsodantas website before. I have been using gw2nodes mostly, with orrmaps the odd time. But they are all done by users supplying info, so they are all going to be incorrect whenever this kind of reset happens.
This happens every patch. Even the number of rare nodes in a zone can change from patch to patch.
2 situations will make nodes change location :
1. the map becomes empty, no one was on the map. when this happen, the nodes on the map reset its location to random new ones. always happen in low populated servers, and southsun cove.
2. the game has new patch.
due to factor number 1, i always look for nodes on bg/jq…
Archeage = Farmville with PK
It helps keep gathering bots at bay. There are probably 3x the locations where a resource can spawn than actually spawn in any zone. This includes T6 and rich nodes.
RIP City of Heroes

Well you read it wrong, so all I can suggest is practice on reading comprehension.
This is not constructive and is condescending.
You wanted to know if anyone else had noticed. I told you that many of us had noticed
You didn’t tell me that many of you had noticed.
There is nothing strange going on.
I didn’t say there was anything strange going on. This is not relevant.
If your can not understand that, it’s not my problem but yours.
This is combattive and unnecessary.
In the future, search the forums before creating a duplicate thread as it is a violation of the forum rules to create duplicates
If you want people to search for duplicates, you’re going to have to insist that Anet makes a working search engine. Until then, duplicate threads are rampant and regular. And again, you cannot make me or other people post the way you’d like, or say things you’d like. It’s basic respect for other humans. I would never go into a topic that you created and tell you to not talk about it.
and if you don’t want an answer, don’t ask a question.
I did want an answer. I got an answer. It was given by people who plainly stated it without being insulting or ordering me around. And they spent less time typing the simple answer than you did mistreating me.
As to incorrect information, care to tell me what is incorrect? I said the nodes move at different times from different events. What is incorrect about that? You should be aware that a server reboot is an event
The nodes aren’t moving because of events. Ancient saplings have nothing to do with events. Saying that they are moving because of events is spreading incorrect information. And generalizing any occurance as an event, when the term is already defined clearly in game to everyone who plays, doesn’t make it less false.
The topic is solved. Thanks to the people who came to offer their experience and information.

Enough said.
If a zone ever has zero population, the map resets — that might be what you’re seeing.
Thats correct. I often harvest late at night in Dredgehaunt Cliffs, and and at some point early at the morning there is mostly a reset, or sometimes there are even more resets when i just relog to another character.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

Depends on whether the bots are still teleporting around(haven’t seen any in months) and if the botters are paying any attention to the location.
The number of rich node locations on a particular map is fairly small. Same for t6. It is not too difficult to memorize the locations for one or two maps. A bot would have no problem recording all of them.
