I came back to the game 2 days ago and started a Necromancer. I’ve played 18 hours of /age time to lvl 24 and have only gathered 47 scrap thingies.

When I went to the Bazaar and saw the rose back piece I immediately fell in love with it.

But I’m now gravely disappointed because I know that with this horrendous drop rate of kite thingies, I’ll never own a rose.

Sure they’re on the TP for ~3g but I can’t afford that. And as soon as the bazaar is over and scraps no longer available, the price will go up quite a bit.

I do not and will not gamble with my real life money. Never have and never will. So buying the fortunes from the gem shop is against the way I do things.

I personally feel that if someone has been playing pretty hard for 18 hours in game time, 200 scraps would be and should be obtainable.

Now where is that corner, I have crying to do :’(

Uhm…I’m not sure I understand the meaning/reason of this topic. What are you trying to say here? You do know those things drop in Southsun Survival? I got mine in my first chest (finished last with like 3 points). If you played SS for 18h I am sure you will have at least one rose.

If you play southsun survival for 18 hours you definitely have at least 1 rose. I got 3 from doing the achievements associated with it.

They drop at a pretty fair rate in Southsun Survival.
Should also give you enough gold if you play enough to buy it from TP.

If you had spent 18 hours trying to gather fortune scraps then yes I’d agree you should be able to get 200. But with 18 hours of playtime total a lot of that will have been spent doing things that have absolutely no chance of yielding scraps so 47 is pretty good.

Finally I wouldn’t be so sure that the price will jump after the event. A lot of other items like the Holographic dragon wings and mini Molten Firestorm have stayed about the same price. They might go up in price gradually over time but it will be a long time.

You can get both backpacks for 200 scraps in Labyrinthine Cliffs, the exact same seller for helmets and the aspect backpacks will also now sell the rose and the giant thing. Not the one in Lions Arch tho.

You can get the rose, the Zephyrite backpack and the 3 catches (as well as the helms) in exchange for scraps. Or you can get them as drops.

Nope you can get it for 200 Scraps from a vendor in the lower level of the Bazaar Docks.

Go up in price? Maybe a little bit but with the new achievment rewards money should come easier at the beginning i guess. Anyways. serious cosmetics is better left after reaching maximum level unless you have money to back up the expenses.
On the bright side, you might get 50scraps from a single kite drop AND you can get the those skins as a rare reward from doing both minigames they added.

Oh tnx for the info, i obviously haven’t spoke to that specific vendor as i got my catchers/helmets from Lions Arch one and i didn’t notice him selling those. Good to know.

I dont expect the price to rise much after this patch. The wings from the dragon bash are still at about 5g. Maybe you can get a guild member to lend you a few gold.

I take it you missed the part where he’s only been playing for 18 hours and is only level 24? Dungeon runs and jumping around the map hunting world bosses won’t be an option for a while yet, not until after the event’s over at least.

If you’re reeeally desperate for 3 gold, you could always buy a few gem with real money and convert…

You can convert gems to gold, and 3g should be pretty cheap (around 2 euros at worst?). I’m not suggesting you to get the rose this way, but just letting you know that you don’t need to gamble with your money to get items that are on the TP for a reasonable price :p

I only play Open World PvE in GW2 so my Fortune Scraps are entirely from Kite Fortunes dropped from kills. Since the Zephyrite Living Story event started I’ve managed to get enough Fortune Scraps to purchase:
2x Wind Aspect Catcher Back Skin
1x Lightning Aspect Catcher Back Skin
1x Desert Rose Back Skin
1x Golden Scrap that I used to purchase a Lightning Aspect Helm Skin

I also had gotten one Lightning Aspect Catcher Back Skin from looting the chest at the end of Sanctum Sprint…sold that for gold since I already had an account bound one from Fortune Scraps.

And I still have 60+ Fortune Scraps left over. I’ll probably get enough to grab yet another skin or two before the event ends.

…I also purchased 8 more Desert Rose back skins for current and future characters from the TP for 1g50s each since there are so many being made available on the TP.

I don’t agree with you that 200 Fortune Scraps should be expected for 18 hours of Kite Fortune-yielding gameplay. Then again, Kite Fortunes state that they give between 1 and 4 scraps, but not stated is that there is also the semi-rare +50 scraps the fortunes can give so 200 in 18 hours or less is very doable…as well as the rare chance of a golden scrap that is equivalent of up to 250.

Every time there is a new Living Story, with new unique loot, everyone freaks out and ’just has to have it now!". The sad lot of them farms for it too.

The Molten Facility gloves, the Super Adventure Box weapons, the Southsun super-creepy Karka back piece, etc. All of them are ‘the thing’ and then a few weeks later when new stuff is released people forget all about it.

So don’t sweat it. In a month there will be something else you will want more.

Run about 25-30 Sanctum Sprints. You don’t even need to worry about getting first as the payoff isn’t that much more. Between the coin from each race, selling the loot, and possible drops of catcher back pieces you should have more than 3g easy in much, much less than 18 hours. Then you can buy your rose.

I got mine from fortune scraps from my regular PvE when they first came out. I’m kind of disappointed they are for sale on the TP now but oh well. It works well with the appearance of my character so I’ll live.

I tried that once with a person that seemed sincere and I had seen around a bit. It seemed like they had no luck at all during the event. I had some extra coin and felt like being nice so I bought them the holo wings from the TP. I saw the person a bit later and asked why they were not using them and they laughed and said they sold them. HAHA.

I got 3 roses in 3 rounds in a row of SouthSun Survival and I wasn’t even on the scoreboard each time. You should be able to get it no problem.

Yeah, there’s always a risk of that. But tbh it isn’t much. Its not like I’m going out of my way to farm it (or the money) for someone and then they sell it. I try my best to give people the benefit of the doubt if they seem sincere, even though its hard sometimes lol.

I feel the same way I just thought it was a funny story. Some people might get angry over such a thing. I just laughed when they told me that and went about my business. Of course I took them off my gift list though.

Well the person I gave them too didn’t seem to think they were annoying when they were talking about how they would look on their character and the bad luck they had with RNG and such.

Anyway as I said at the end of the day I didn’t really care they sold them right away. I just like the story.

I have both types of wings and feel that way at times. Jumping puzzle means having them turned off for sure. There are times I like to use them on certain characters though.
