Sooo… When I checked today my main acc got 1 outfit in the mail and my alt had… 2?

I mean it certaily doesn’t give me an advantage as outfits are freely choosable after unlocking once but I hope I didn’t get one which should have gone towards someone else…

So, is it okay Gaile or is somewhere someone running around in underwear right now while waiting for that misdelivered package?

P.S. We still need a response on the Karma boosters in enchanted boosters topic…

I still haven’t received this item… I don’t want to put a ticket in yet because I can just imagine a bazillion tickets for the same thing. Is there some point in which everyone should have gotten the outfit? Are they still currently sending them out?

It looks good (except for the oddly placed crotch tassel) though I prefer light armor, but free is free and you never know when it will be just right for another character.

Point being, the outfit’s ugly…how hard was it to gift 200 gems to everybody, cuz that outfit ain’t worth more than 200. This is like that Birthday present that you receive, and you know you’ll never use it, so wasted effort and money.

It’s been less than 24 hours and they’ve got about 3 million accounts to send them to, it’s going to take a while.

They’re probably sending them in batches to avoid overwhelming the system and crashing it. My guess is the people who got 2 were in a batch where something went wrong and they had to resend it to make sure everyone got one.

Why an outfit?
Besides the usual critics bout outfits. My main critique is that it gives a very specifick look. It is nice for those that can use the look, but for others, it has limited value. You will never wear it again.

I think it would have been nice to have something usefull instead. The game is all bout skins, so giving just one skin that is obivously is not going to be unique is not really cutting it. I would have opted for a loyal dolyak. It would function as a second miniature (that you can hide), but also as a 25! slot bag.
I think it would be something that everyone would welcome, has a cuteness level and is functional. As it is unique (there are no 25 slot bags) it is also a real reward.

Wow.

Because in the grand scheme of things a BS outfit cost them nothing to make and pump out. Its an empty gesture IMO and one that just screams “please don’t rage”.

Bag slots, unlimited gather tool of your choice, unique titles…I dunno…any of those things would have been preferable.

This. I am tired of nothing but skins. I like functional and just throwing another cover up at me is kind of tiresome. I generally don’t care about cuteness level but I accept that for many people this becomes some sort of catwalk for their characters. Could we please have something that has a worthwhile function?

The outfit looks ok. It may not fit all professions in terms of looks but still, it looks good.
But I think they could have made a little difference between accounts considering thet all accounts from day one till a few days ago will get the same outfit
They could run down 3 rewards by years. Who has 3 years accounts will get 4 rewards, who has 2 years will get 3 rewards and who has 1 year or less will get one reward
Lets say,
– the unique outfit will go for the 1 year accounts
– the unique outfit + unique permanent tools set (axe, pick and sickle) will go for 2 years accounts
– the unique outfit + unique permanent tools set + unique title

This armor looks like garbage, I would have prefered a decent compensation for my long term monetary and non monetary support from a company I have always loyal to… I don’t know… maybe a discount on HOT or something I can actually use? Instead of some bucket hat angled kitten armor that looks worse than 80% of the base armors that exist in the game no matter which way you turn it. I am horribly displeased Anet….

My feedback is not bout being disgratefull. I’m happy they want to express they value us. I’m only giving feedback bout the gift and how the amount of gratitude it reflex depends on personal taste and therefor differ per person.

I really love the Royal Guard Outfit guys ! Good job ! I wanted to report some clipping that might have an easy solution, see attached photo.

If the armor was mirrored horizontally it would no longer clip in this situation. If the sash was on the other side, all weapons that are hung over the back would sit neatly beside it instead of strike through. Thoughts?

If you buy your child for example a scratchy pair of socks out of the blue, a polite child will thank you and look happy while asking itself if you had smoked something at work to come home with this ridiculous present. It will probably try to hide the scratchy socks in the drawer, right beside the scratchy underwear you bought last year for the same, well intended but ultimately incomprehensible reason.
A not so polite child will tear up, cry or even get angry why it has to wear scratchy socks now.
DonĀ“t believe me and have children? Take a look into your drawer, at places you can hardly reach to clean up.

Well meaning parents can be a plague for children sometimes…^^

I would describe thatchild to be very honest to their parents. I would describe that parent as bad parents in the first place for not knowing what kind of gift your child would like or not. No I’m not talking bout what the value of the gift should be. But if you child hates pink and you give him/her pink socks, why should he be happy with it. A good parent knows what their kids would like for a gift.
So a kid expressing why they dislike the gift (giving feedback) is a very good thing!

I’m not saying that Arenanet should know what each and everyone should like.
I’m also not saying that I’m not happy and warm and fuzzy on the inside that they want to thank us.
I’m merely giving them feedback that giving something that has practical use is more likely to be appreciated by the recievers compared to a skin that is liked based on personal taste.

There is one big difference in the two scenarios. One is a friend or relative giving a gift to someone who is a friend or relative. Any sensible person who gets an unwanted gift in this situation smiles and says thank you, because otherwise you’ll hurt that person’s feelings.

In the second situation it’s a company giving something to a customer in hopes that the customer will feel good and buy more of the product(s). In this case, the company actually wants the people who don’t like the gift to say so and list why not. This tells them whether or not they reached their target objective (making the customer happy) and what they should change the next time they try it.

tl:dr
Don’t confuse your parents with a large “soulless” corporation. The motives are not the same and neither are how they respond to critisism about a gift.

It’s a free gift. It’s not going to appeal to everyone. The polite thing is to be thankful and not criticize the gift. You come off in a very poor light otherwise.

What if it’s a teacher instead. The point isn’t in the semantics of the examples but the fact that it’s a free gift and instead of being polite and respectful by saying thank you or nothing at all, you have people criticizing it saying that it’s garbage or that they should of gotten something better.
