As you were saying?

Stop trying to catch someone by their words – designer, programmer – might be even Jesus himself – if he would be Anet dev-team member name wouldn’t matter.

We all know that instead of finishing stuff they started back in 2012 and early 2013 they do 10000000 other things with money as a focus.

EOT.

You’re the one upset that Anet isn’t finishing the rest of the worlds and then blaming it on the gen store items which have little to do with it.

What “10000000” things did they not do in 2012 and 2013 that are a result of the gem store?

I’ve wrote an answer as simply as it could be put but someone thought that it was ofensive therefore – no answer for you unless you’ll do your own research. (unless you are too blind to see thing the way they are)

I’ll answer your question with mine:

Can a new player play season 1 or a player that have just joined today replay whole season 2 or 3 without the need to purchase it through the gemstore ?

That has nothing to do with your original statement.

Because it wasn’t me who said that Living World is now persistent and allows newer players to join.

The way ANet sees it, getting the Living World for free is a perk for playing every other month. Heck, you don’t even need to play; you can just logon. To ANet, anyone who didn’t logon can still get it for free, at about 50 gold per episode (less if bought during discounts or in bulk).

Do you even hear yourself ?!

How can something be free if you need to pay for it ? How the f, from the economical point of view does that work ?! If something is free you get it for free if you need to pay for something it’s not for free.

Is that the “best” way they can benefit frequent players and push the purchase of gems via cash? Maybe not. But that doesn’t mean it’s unfair. (I think it would be smarter for them to offer the first episode in each season as a freebie for newer players who complete some important milestone, but that’s a minor tweak.)

This actually doesn’t matter since there is no option to replay S1 and some parts from S2 – so they already put new players into the middle off the story.

But again, none of that answers my question: if it were up to you, which current projects would you take people away from in order to develop SAB further or to work on any of the other million priorities they have?

I’ll repeat myself again here – it’s not only about SAB, it’s about all 3 festivals – together is at least 2 months of recycled stuff that hasn’t been expanded from the very first day of their introduction which was 4 years ago. What would i do ? In company that has 200 emplayees i would take like 20 and tell them to work on festivals. It would not be super fast but it would be at least some progress and we surely would not have same beaten horse for (this year it will be) 5th time in a row.

Your original statement(s) include these phrases:

  • “…the fact that they have better things to do for which people will pay money – like ugly wings or outfits in store” (source)
  • “We all know that instead of finishing stuff they started back in 2012 and early 2013 they do 10000000 other things with money as a focus.” (source)

Whether a new player can, or cannot, play LS2 or LS3 without spending gems has nothing to do with that, which is where you inserted your reply to my comment. (source)

Do you even understand the argument that ANet is making?

  • Gold is available in the game from numerous sources.
  • Gold can be converted to gems.
  • Players can spend those gems, thus bypassing the need to spend any real life cash.
  • That makes LS2 & LS3 free from dollar, euro, or other RL currency costs, i.e. what people commonly refer to as “free.”

Is that the “best” way they can benefit frequent players and push the purchase of gems via cash? Maybe not. But that doesn’t mean it’s unfair. All of LS2 is replayable; it was designed that way.
None of LS1 is replayable, because that’s how it was designed.

But what has that to do with what I said (or, for that matter, with what you said)?

But again, none of that answers my question: if it were up to you, which current projects would you take people away from in order to develop SAB further or to work on any of the other million priorities they have?

And again, I’ll repeat myself: what other projects would you cancel to make those 20 people available?

Do you know what the 200 staffers are doing? Do you know what financial priorities the company has? Do you know whether NCSOFT shareholders & investors are patiently willing to wait an extra six months for the second expansion or if they are expecting a better return on their investments?

But all of this is moot: ANet has always indicated that festivals were intended to be largely repeat content. They have added the occasional scavenger hunt/collection and fixed a few bugs, but, after starting the festival, they have rarely updated the details (that goes for GW1, as well).

Festivals are meant to be something fun to do, while we wait for the Living World or feature updates. If that’s not enough for you, well, there’s no subscription fee, so take a break and come back when there is.
