So I have a few questions about guilds, for any of those ArenaNet employees that are hanging around the forums, feel free to answer “no comment/can’t answer”.
1-Anything being worked on in terms of guilds? How long until we hear about what they might be?
2-Will we see guild halls any time soon?
3-Guild alliances were a vague subject at launch and a bit was said. Will anything like that be coming soon or is that out of the subject?
4-It has been a while since guilds got anything since launch (apart from missions) will the long awaited guild vs guild be seen any time soon?
Most of these subjects had been touched upon duing the first quarter of gw2 launch but we had no update since. I believe these are important questions due to one single fact, at end game one of the biggest reasons people stay in game is to see their guildies and friends. Adding more content for guilds would make sure less people leave.
It is really hard for Anet right now, the whole changing world, dynamic events, action combat is alot harder to and more complex than the usual MMO, it may be why we don’t see as many update for other things such as guild. Their main concern is around the new mecanic they are working on.
Just think about how hard it is to make a dynamic event instead of a npc that ask you to kill 25 Behemoth.
Though I would like to see Guild hall, guilds alliance I think it wouldn’t take too much time and effort to implement them. They seems to focus on making absolutely everything different and better but things like those need to stay the same :P.
Guild Wars is only a name, it has nothing to do with Guilds, or Wars.
The lack of major Guild structures is evident to any Original Guild Wars (GW1) player. Don’t expect Guild Halls anytime soon. (late 2014? wishful thinking)
What really annoys me, err, really frustrates me is … only 5 Guild members to a Guild Team … there is never enough “space” for Guilds to appease any members who want to partake in a Guild event.
The Dragons of Tyria may have been a more apt name for GW2
We do pretty good in handling guild events, although it takes leadership and dedicated officers to keep track of 50~ during missions, while teaching the 10~ members new to missions. Anyway, Im not bothered with the name guild wars or whatever, if you have played enough MMO’s you would know that after some point you leave and what keeps you interested in the game until the next big update is hanging out with guild members/new friends.
I like how Trice explained it, there must be a lot of work put into these living story events for sure. I think most people would gladly sacrifice one of the living story patches for an update dedicated to Guilds. Just my 2 cents.
I actually thought that they would have announced something like this at PAX before the finals for spvp.

For me, as a guild leader, I see guilds as being far more important than Living World content. It’s guilds that hold players together and keep them playing games. Our guild has held us together since 2005, but it is a struggle to find a game that supports us, just as we support the game and, in turn, it’s developers.
Whilst many see guild halls as not being important, I’m sure a good number of players must do, judging by all the threads that call for them. Providing a focus for a guild, somewhere to hold meetings, display items and even decorate in a manner appropriate to that guild, all binds members together.
Personally, I’m not fussed about GvG, but as long not participating doesn’t hinder a guild, I have no objection to seeing it introduced.
I see it as being very short-sighted in not providing the mechanics to manage guilds efficiently. What I would like to see, in the very near future, is one bi-monthly update that adds the above. I feel that Arenanet have missed a trick by not adding guild halls and management tools on the anniversary of launch.
not a big deal for me personally, but I really do not understand the issue with guild halls. I mean, it is an instanced map with possibly some unlockable vendors and similar stuff. Throw in a portal in every city area and there you have our guild halls. Possibly even a good way to make some money with luxury vendors purchased with gems (instead of guild influence or whatever).

i agree, but something as big as this for gw2 is seen as a saver by anet, theyll be able to use it in the future as content is running dry, they dont see it as being needed at the moment because its content keeping people in the game and not guilds, honestly? id have to say its going to be over another year until we see them implemented, say late 2014?
i don’ t know why people keep asking for gvg. the people asking for it don’t even pvp or have played gw1 gvg.
gvg as it was would never work on this game, if anything just give these naggers a big circle to fight in so they can do their little zerg vs zerg shiet.
the only guild feature i want is something to tell when members last log in, or maybe guild airships.

cool cool thanks for the rage, i am a gw1 player and i do want gvg and i DO think it would be an amazing decision i DONT however think it is vital to the game, however i do think that guild halls are.
in gw1 my guild was always around the hall, we used it as a hub/centre for all our activities, also having a place where your members can meet gives you a sense of community and the feeling your not alone, with just text chat (currently) it feelings like few ppl are in your guild, guilds are what will keep people in the game the longest
I’m thinking they don’t want the world to feel empty, if everyone was in guild halls…we wouldn’t mix in the cities getting to know each other etc. Also down the line i know they are thinking about what will be used and how they don’t want to implement something that a couple years down the line won’t get used. I too would like guild halls though.

Haha, nice.. You know them good!
The 5 man party size is the reason I cannot understand why people take such serious offense at ‘PvE Commanders’. I am a guild leader, and we use Squads for bounties, and other GUILD events since, we have no other option. When you see Commanders in PvE, go a little easier on them, sometimes its necessary, and the best option for doing things TOGETHER as a guild. =)
