Veterans know what combo effect results are already, perhaps with the exception of Light Aura for some.

However, it’d be nice to have something to actually look at. Gw2skills.net does a decent job at it.

In game though, this is not there. Maybe it could go on the Hero panel, under it’s own tab within Skills and Traits so you’d see Slot Skills, Traits, and Combos (mmm tastey).

Doesn’t matter where it’s implemented in the UI, but at the very least having a way to view all possible combinations should be in game in my opinion. A nice to have would be that the combos that your current build can do would be highlighted. Another nice to have would be combos your profession is capable of performing regardless of current build be highlighted too. Finally my favorite nice to have would be character preview of the effect actively happening.

Again, not a big deal for veterans like me, but for new players it’s definitely really nice to have.

When you added light field, I wanted to see it, it’s icon, and read what it did, but didn’t have any way of doing so except checking on my guardian and actually testing a leap through a light field, because I knew that was how to trigger it from reading the wiki.

Combos are a big part of combat, so I feel like come next feature patch, giving a little love to this area would be nice, assuming it doesn’t take away development efforts of something even better.

Yeah, some kind of introductory material would be killer. I ended up learning about them through wiki research and watching videos. I still only have a handful of the combos memorized.

Or words to that effect.

This is an awesome idea and would improve a lot of players performance overall i think, including older players too that havent bothered to look at combos online. It could be added as an extra tab next to weapon skills, skill point tab and trait tab.

Yeah… instead of a glacier-paced hand holding experience for leveling, I’m pretty sure everyone (except maaaybe the most elitists) would LOVE a Combo-field tutorial in-game. It’s quite unique to the game and changes how one engages in combat tremendously whether or not they know/care how to use Combo Fields correctly.

… and while I’m wishing, make this tutorial repeatable, as my memory is fail.

This. I might get it by accident but I’m never looking around saying “oh hey Bob laid down a water field so I’m going to use my finisher”. Nope. Never ever said that. I’ve had ZERO training on how or when to use these, in 2000 hrs of gameplay. Thanks ANet!! But hey, I can spend 42g and 300 sp on traits. Love you guys. Srsly.

You better start learning.

Many many times in PvP, if I ever see a water field and my hp is low, I will use a leap or blast finisher for a heal.

In WvW, many guild leaders will ask for water field or fire fields. Then the guild members will use blast finishers for area heal and might stacking.

I made some suggestions here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Combo-Fields-Finishers-suggestion/first

What does everyone think about indicators to visually appear on the hotbar, for fields and finishers? I would think it would help people, for both new people and veterans.
And no, it’s not dumbing down the game. There’s just too many skills to memorize when playing different alts.

Just look at all the combos: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Combo_field

Let’s take Guardian for example. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Table_of_guardian_combo_skills

Field: Symbol of Wrath could have some kind of glowing effect around it’s border to indicate it’s a field.

Finisher: Leap of Faith could have a red flashy border indicating it’s ready to use, or any other kind of finisher.

There could be various visual indicators for the following. Perhaps, a “smoky cloud” icon around the Smoke field, or a “fiery flame” around the Fire fields.

Fields: Dark, Ethereal, Fire, Ice, Light, Lightning, Poison, Smoke, Water
Finishers: Blast, Leap, Projectile, and Whirl

There’s some problems with this of course, such as fields & finishers that are chained attacks, because they are usually on automatic attacks on #1 on the hotbar, but it shouldn’t be too much of a problem.

Some people didn’t like it though.

TL;DR: Highlight skills on hotbar with fields and finishers.

Yeah, perhaps also including a list of combo effects somewhere. So that players can review them without minimizing their game to check the combos in wiki or some other reliable website.

Perhaps in Weapon skill tab on Hero panels “Skills and Traits” tab.

I’m a casual PvE adventurer, I enjoy combat, adventure and helping, but not farming.
I rarely do PvP or Hard PvE, unless it’s organized.

I only learned it when I was at around 6000 ap..my guild members pointed a lot of things out for me. So maybe if you are in a guild, they could help out?

I played my first year w/o knowing about them… I always thought someone was putting fire auras on me.

Yeah, should of been something to look at when they added a dodge tutorial.

Thanks to everyone who’s posted their feedback.

It’s good to know this could help out some veteran players too.
