Except I doubt that everyone needed or wanted the reward and ran a Jumping puzzle specially for the Mad King Slipper.

What do you mean? Of course they wanted the reward. Remember that this was months ago when getting a piece of exotic gear was the bee’s knees. And even if they didn’t care about the gear, LOTS of people were appalled that they were prevented from getting the achievement because it was too hard. Can you imagine the audacity of a game developer to make an achievement something you need to earn through skill?

Please take your tinfoil hats off and be reasonable. ~ReginaB

In all seriousness… it was the exact same in GW1. I don’t know what you expected but you obviously didn’t do your research. If you’re leaving a well-alive and thriving game because of that … sure feel free. I’m not sure TESO will give you what you wanted though.

In the end, it’s almost impossible to create an MMO without RNG. I’m happy it’s only for cosmetics, while stats can be farmed in a definitive non-RNG way. That’s a huge improvement over , well, every other game on the market I guess.

You can get fairly far along in the HoM progression without grinding money or relying on a rare drop. I know around Prophecies the game was all about Underworld farming and all that boring stuff the OP is complaining about, but who the hell asked for Prophecies 2?

Till you get to the lucky title track, where you have to open chests while breaking lockpick upon lockpick. Till you need minis and you have all the whites and blues. Till you need more armor, like Vabbian and Obsidian.

The HoM had plenty of grind to it, and some RNG as well with reguards to lockpicks. Most people never did max out the lucky title track.

Edit: More to the point there were TONS of rare rare skins in Guild Wars 1 that were really REALLY hard to get. Celestial compass, bone staff, voltaic spear, frog sceptor and plenty I don’t remember off the top of my head.

An exotic was quite a big deal but it wasn’t worth people spending hrs on it to beat it when they can farm the equivalent gold / tokens in COF P1 in much less time. The skin wasn’t unique and the stats are not desirable (who uses condi damage in MF farming?).

Apologies to those who may find my posts on GW2 forums offensive and hateful.

let anet kill their game. I mean its not like most the population the game had at launch left because of crap like this. RNG is bad and i dont know why they keep doing things with more of it. They simply dont care bout dedication and actuly achieving the item rather then just grinding for gold and buying.

Maybe they’re killing there game for you, but not for everyone. People have left, that’s true, but more people seem to be playing now than they were back in November. I’m noticing a rise in the population overall, not a drop.

So it’s entirely possible they do care about their playerbase. They simply can’t please everyone, because that’s completely impossible.

Why does everyone think because they’re disenfranchised, everyone is going to feel that way?

First question, how do you actually know. In September, everyone was in a starting zone. No one was really anywhere but the first zones, so yeah, there was a huge zerg. If you were one of the few who made it to Orr first thing, that zone was dead as a doornail.

But aside from that, OF COURSE there are less people now than September. Big launch, everyone playing at the same time, people taking time off from work. That’s a ridiculous statement.

All I’ve ever said is that since people left after the November 15th patch the population is steadily going up. But since the playerbase is far more spread out now than then, it’s hard to know. But there are more people around in more zones in the open world now than there were then.

It’s also possible the PVP population is a lot lower, but I doubt very much the open world is much lower.

I hit several world events a day. I don’t know that I’ve ever received an exotic item from one or from any drop or chest with the exception of the chest at the end of Lost Shores.
