I don’t want to be pessimistic but I really don’t expect much in terms of class balancing and parity,in regards to PvP,anymore.
This is an MMO,classes are fun to play but it’s all about which builds will become the new op ones and which are going to become irrelevant, and the months long wait until the next shuffle of the cards.
As a wise cat once said “Meow owow”,that in plain English translates as “It is what it is”.

-Win a pip,lose a pip,win a pip,lose a pip,lose a pip,
lose a pip,win 2 pips,lose a pip,lose a pip…………..-

i hope power necro gets 50k dps already

Acknowledging this user’s agenda…

Power necro needs a qualitative buff, because the condi build, as fun as it is in PvP, is boring, bad and situational in PvE, and I need that raw dps for the adrenal rush, Anet mate. I don’t want to continue spamming scepter autos in some symmetrical, Mozartean rythm. I need Beethoven or Nightwish gameplay to blow me away! No more minuets; it’s scherzo time. Or at least make it into the heroic Wagner since necro is supposed to be an attrition class…

I started making Astralaria, so give me a reason not to stop. Maybe start with the auto rework so it’s not useless and doesn’t look like Nadal vs Federer (or badminton for girl characters).
No hope though; the changes will probably look like they were influenced by a bacchian touch.

Btw, focus still sucks after over 4 years. I have a free pro-tip: if no one uses it even with the few changes in the past, that means a complete rework is in order.

Pleases do something about icd being per person effected not per trigger of effect. At the same time put these icd on longer cd. Nothing more frustrating about accidentally burning some one and blinding one person waiting on a full cd before you can try agen. Chill criting etc.. can replaces it for other classes. Icd should work like how glyph of elemental power works now longer cd on the icd but have it per person not per trigger effect.

I appreciate the heads up, Gaile.

Hoping these changes involve changing/updating traits/skills to function either differently or more actively. I grow tired of passive get out of jail free card combos + playstyles that are too rewarding for such minimum effort (condi mesmer, trapper thief, DH trap spam.. I dodge over the traps but MAN is it so predictable and unfun, bunker-run-away-never-dying druids to name a few)

State of the game regarding WvW/PvP is mind numbingly boring – I wish one day each class would have at least 3-4 viable builds. Right now when entering PvP I know most of what’s on the plate just by looking at the profession icons… it’s saddening.

I want to expect balance across game modes yet I’m having large doubts.

WvW atm is incredibly stale; would love to see some skills tweaked to include more supportive incentive across classes that are lack-luster regarding that category.

I’d really like something to be done about certain existing professions skills like Thief’s Scorpion Wire and Warrior’s Throw Bolas in terms of actually reaching the target instead of being met with A LOT of “no LoS” or “obstructed”. I am disheartened when that happens… yet on my DH I can Spear of Justice 95% of the time just fine. Do these three skills have different mechanics?

This might very well be asking too much but… core Ranger pets. I barely ever see them anymore in PvP/WvW. It’s the typical Smokescale + Bristleback wombo combo these days. Please revitalise core ranger pets; bring them up to par and just as viable as the new HoT ones.

I don’t know. There’s a million and more reasons I could throw out there.

As such, balance for this mode should’ve been separate from the get go.
nerfing any X game mode skill for the sake of any other game mode is moronic, PERIOD !

Not only that, it’s design should have been part of the classes.
That is to say, in a well-designed class setup, some skills would clearly be intended for PvE, WvW or sPvP use. But not for the other two. Maybe actually restricted, maybe just rather useless outside of their designed mode.

Example: A thief skill to hook a rope to an enemy cannon on a wall and scale the wall. Lacking cannons on top of walls, this skill is naturally not useful to equip in sPvP or PvE, though for lore reasons the odd openworld situation might even exist.

Another example: A chronomancer elite signet which passively applies Quickness to 9 other players around you, but slows yourself and makes you move slower on top. Important raid buff, but as you yourself work slower (can be balanced for in PvE balance!) it’s a deathtrap in PvP and WvW. Might have the odd defensive use case, but overall problematic.

And so on. Design skills which implement a designed “role” in a mode. Then hyper-specialize them. But the devs seem so scared to actually design classes, instead preferring this hodgepodge of messy and muddy design with no clear goal or direction. Meh.

The strength of heart to face oneself has been made manifest. The persona Carighan has appeared.

Wednessday we will most likely see only another useless try of rebalancing Classes through just number changes on Skills and Traits, what will lead only to the fact, that they shift the meta builds around and that creates then just new OP builds which will replace the nerfed ones.

if you want to balance this game properly, then you don’t scratch in the surface of the very thick earth place, no you take it on from the ROOT thats deep underground.
The roots are the basics of this games Combat System, which aren’t well balanced anymore for all the skill and trait changes anet has done within the last 4 years plus additionally all the other mechanics they have either changed, like the effectiveness increase in Conditions, without rebalancing around this also the Boons and all the addtions they made, like new Boons/Conditions and Elite Specs, for what alot of Combat Mechanics weren’t balanced around, because ANetz is still using the very old basic combat mechanics from 2012, where all this stuff DIDN’T exist and where the Combat Mechanics were not balanced for all these things, that we have now currently in the game.

Anet can first get better balance through Skill and Trait Changes again – that are neccessary, if they get finally the guts to take it on with the games Combat System and to renew ands rebalance these outdated old mechanics, so that they fit again to all the gameplay mechanics and changes that Anet has done to the game within the last 4 years, so that Skills, Traits and all other Combat Mechanics that are important and go hand in hand for class balancing, are then again in better harmony with each other, so that skill and trait changes can be again more effective for each class.

Anet has to stop ignoring these aspects. You can’t balance a game like GW2, if you permanently do only nothing else, but Skill Number Changes.
Game Balance consist out of much more, than only Class Skills and Traits!!
Don’t know, how long it takes, until Anet finalyl realizes this fact!
Especially when they have shown us in the past already multiple times, that they HAVE the guts to make bigger changes in Game Balance by redesigning whole parts of Combat System mechanics with the multiple changes on the Trait System.

So why does it take so long for them to see in, that it is now time to take a long onto the other outdated Combat System Mechanics??
The only answer that I have for this and the only hope I have for that is, that ANet simply waits for this bigger change for the second Expansion, or maybe brief before the next expansion in one bigger Balance Patch, just like Anet did it with conditions brief a few weeks before the release of HoT – but that was in this case a terrible decision, because the previous change brought only chaos to GW2 and HoT was then just only oil put to the fire and made everything only worser, what wouldnt have ben the case, if Anet/NCSoft wouldnt have rushed it so much with HoT and would habe given the game first some time to make readjustments from the horrible Condition Changes that we have to endure now since 23rd june of 2015 – in four months for already nearly 2 years!!! without that Anet cared about it, what they have done to their game with these overpowered condition changes and how much that patch influenced the whole game to the bad side, rather than it was at all anyhow good for the game.

Conditions should influence the outcome of a battle, they shouldnt be more powerful in dealing damage, than power builds and basically replace them, because they are braindeadly easier to play than power builds and more rewarding for less risk and less effort to be done, to make them effective, due to having currently lesser attributes to spec to make them very powerful, than any power build has to do, due to the outdated single effect attribute system which is biased towards offensive builds and needs a complete redesignm, to help in rebalancign the game.

But thats a neccessary step, which can wait. the most important combat mechanics, which need to be quickly changed and overworked is the whole overenriched boon and condition system together with an overwork of the Health System, so that finalyl all class get better individually balanced, instead of getting pidgeonholed into one of 3 outdated unbalanced class types which don’t suit anymore to GW2’s current sate of the game with its Elite Specializations and tons of changes on Skills and Traits from the last years.

I wouldn’t be so penetrant on this topic, If I wouldn’t mean all this also very seriously!

- Condition dmg nerf
- Make unused weapons viable by buffing it for all classes
- Make unused utilities usable (guardian spirit weapons etc…)
- Druid survivability stealth and escape options nerf + pet nerf
- Separate all game modes for easier balance – pvp, pve, wvw

What we will probably get:

- Changed attack from 5 targets to 3
- Changed attack power from 1800 to 1750

What balance? Gw2 never been a balanced game. All your updates making new op traits nothing more.

Are you gonna nerf;

- Druid HoT pets damage min. %50 and redesign signet of stone?
- Warrior adrenal health nerf min. %75 and removing second endure pain trait?
- Incrase dh traps cds min %50 and reducing shield of courage duraiton to 2secs?
- Removing engineer rapid regeneration trait?
- Removing mesmer restorative illusions trait and second block on shield and reducing shatter dps?
- Removing every single daze and immobilize hits from thief?
- Redesigning necro DS/RS and making it CD based skill? Like 6-10secs shroud with 60secs cd. Not endless and growing with vitality..
- Nerfing every single ele support skills-traits and removing obsidian flesh?

I dont think so. You gonna delete some amulets and useless traits. A few classes screw around like “ele dead” but actually nothing changes. Mesmer, warrior and druid stays on top op classes. Ele healbot, dh and nec will be nerfed as always.

If you asking us please dont do anything. You making worse with each “balance” update. Find talented devs and create a better matchmaking.

You want to know why Thieves probably may not got a nerf?

They’ve already Nerfed us to the GROUND, There’s nothing left to nerf or change, but tooltip fixes and graphical animation fixes.

Thief right now is in a good state.

Although I too must say the evasion meta is annoying, which is why I play burst, but hey, That’s Daredevils elite specialization, without evasion DD would literally be worse than Necro.

What they need to do is:

Speed up velocity for Impairing daggers similar to DH Spear of justice
Increase bandit defense 3s (maybe)
Increase velocity shortbow #1,
Fix Vault, similar to Boundful Dodger make it proc’ damage in the air. Too many times you’ll be on a higher landscape than your target like an inch or 2 higher, you vault and it misses.
Make Kleptomaniac innate (Passive 3 initiative) will open more build diversity
Give DD more utility underwater
Give a Dodge underwater split (Let us have the freedom to unhindering dodge underwater and Bound on land
Fix spear 4 already and it’s self stun (Or put it in the tooltip that it’s supposed to self stun)
Fix Jump Staff 3
Give Thieves more unblockable attacks (to handle DH’s easier roaming around in WvW or playing in PvP)
Get rid of Traps, because they’re useless

I’m not asking for much, mere fixes and slight buff’s

What I don’t understand is:

Why they gave us 2 bassi venom procs then took it away
Why they stripped us of Might gain and gave it to Revenant
Why we have no way of innately generating protection
Why Shadow Rejuvenation’s damage reduction got nerfed to 25%
Why P/P Richochet was even removed
Why Long Reach (Old thief trait 1500 range steal) was removed
Why They fixed that Fury trait, maybe some of us wanted 3mins of fury (Okay i understand that one lol, but really who uses CS line in WvW/PvP anymore.
Why they altered S/X mobility
Why they nerfed and destroyed Shadow Trap
Why we have the worse weapon range in game
Why you even touched Leeching Venoms trait
Why Mug can’t crit?! (Okay i understand this one kitten)
Why CS line is dead, outside of optimal damaged thief for PvE
And why you even made that trait change system in general, so we can’t mix and match

The world will never know!

All you need to do is add something new, like ground and flying mounts, cape skins for backpack, 25 man raid, new world boss, new profession and race so people will not bored. And please remove the TOME OF KNOWLEDGE in blacklion chest, people can easily get that on pvp and wvw reward track, what’s the point for adding that on blacklion chest? And last, pls redesign the other legendary weapons specially the quip. How can you call that quip a legendary weapon if its a toy gun? Make some new design that worth calling a “legendary weapon”.

Conditions are a viable source of damage, Orpheal. The sooner you and everyone else accept this truth, the happier you’ll be.

Sure, but they should not be more viable, than direct damage, therefore is condition damage in regard of its given braindead gameplay in GW2 just too effective and too simple to get it very powerful together with its spammy skill design that allows you to spam a foe with them to death way faster, than anyone is able to get rid of them and not all classes have on demand access to helpful boons like resistance, you may also not forget.
Resistance was basically only Anets cheap answer on the condition power creep they added to the game with the june 23rd patch from 2015, that they used to buy them time with this boon, because they knew it already back then, that giving this game its neccessary proper rebalancing that includes also all combat relevant mechanics would take them more time and ressources to do, which ANet didn’t had back then – so what was the answer for them aas counterplay to the sudden added massive condition powercreep that turned the whole game into chaos, just to please the PvE side, so that condition builds were from that day on able to contribute good enough on DPS – we add resistance, the middle finger boon for all condi builds – simple solution, quick solution, but far away from being the perfect solution that would have been to give the whole condition AND boon system at the same time a proper rebalance with the goal to reduce both sides…because Anet kept on adding over the years only more and more new boons and especially condition,s without thinking twice about it, that adding more and more effects to the game will automatically lead sooner or later only to more and more unbalanced class builds that become also only harder and harder to balance – thats why I’m saying, that the combat system with its lots of boons and conditions has already far surpassed the state of overenrichment.

The game has currently simply way too much boons and conditions, than are good for this game and its whole class balance. But simply only removing here n there now a boon and a condition wouldn’t be right.

Thats as task that naturaly has to come together with Skill and Trait Rebalances, AFTER the OCndition and Boon Systems have been reworked first and once that has been done, we all will clearly see then an impactful refreshing wind of change in the whole game balance of GW2 again, where players have lesser to check constantly again, how much and which boons/conditions are currently on them, we will get again then the impression, that boons and conditions are much lesser spammy in the whole gameplay, because it are simply again lesser of both and the whole skill resing of removing them, of corrupting them, of stealing them ect pp. will also become in return again more effective and skills and traits, that give you certain boons/conditions start to become also again more meaningful, if both boons and conditions become lesser spammy in GW2 again.

If we reach first this big change, then will GW2 be again a great step forward to become great again and more fun, like GW2 used to be within its first two years after release, while preparing the game at the same time better for the implementation of more Elite Specializations in the future, because the first set of them was thrown with HoT just into the cold water into a totally unprepared unbalanced state of GW2 so brief after the condition changes, that this simply couldn’ just result into something good at the end, if things just get rushed too fast, before polishing the game first and making needed preparations, before you add already again something totally new into the game that completely shakes up the hwole game balance – and all of that under the point, that the game is still using outdated mechanics from 2012, which were from begin on never designed around the fact, that thinmgs like Elite Specializations or additional Boons and Conditions would play ever a role for these old mechanics.

Thats why the game is currently so totally out of harmony, because the game mechanics aren’t going at the moment hand in hands just by design.

Its like as if you put oil (new game mechanis like E-Specs, new boons/conditions) into water (old GW2 2012er mechanics) and you expect from both fluids, that they fusionize, because they are both in the same vessel (game), but in fact you just realize, that the oil will swim on top of the water as it doesn’t work well with water due to both being two completely different substances.

Personally I like the idea behind sub classes ~ quoted from Chris Whiteside

Some skills extremely hard to pull off do little damage in comparison to passive, fast or instant skills that you keep buffing.

Low health, low dmg on anything but pve glass cannon builds, over reliance on healing power for any kind of sustain…too much to solve…too many patches required.

I never played DH before it got “nerfed” in the True Shot. I only started playing after, and my success? Endless. I laughed in the face of Condi Warriors and Power Warriors were lining up for their chance in the ring with me.

Nerf is a word we’ve grown to ascribe meaning to, “Don’t play it, it won’t give you what you want”. This perspective couldn’t be more self-defeating. If you guys are going to complain that your game isn’t what you want it to be, then stick it to them; Quit.

I embrace every change all the way up to my last day playing. So if you’re active enough for the forums, you’re more than likely going to be playing -through- the patch. Who knows? Maybe this patch will help you find another game you like even more. Bottom line is, it’s like you’re allowing yourself to be pseudo-trolled JUST by raging over one forum post guys.

If you gave me a decent Wyverns, I’m already happy, even if it’s in the ranger patch, because that alone would make me happy too much because almost 80% of the wyverns’ attacks are deflected or they end up failing and the cooldown of f2 too Is too high compared to smokescale and bristlback.

Why?

It is just a balance patch, it ain’t that big of a deal. Or to be more precise it is better to be cautiously optimistic than overly hype.

bet youre the life of the party

Actually I am usually the life of the party but nice try though.

In any case, the smart money is to always be cautiously optimistic especially with Arena Net. Take this from someone who has seen their work since 2006.

But hey it’s your choice to do whatever you want. I just hate for you to have one more thing to complain about.

You only need to remove the silly PVE Gear from the Open PVP and accept WvW as PVP mode.

Then they could handle SPVP and WvW together and the PVP players would no longer have to deal with PVE Gear.

I couldn’t agree more. I only recently started with WvW, but I immediately noticed an issue and was wondering, too, why WvW wasn’t handled as PvP.

I really hope the Revenant will get a boost/change, I am curious to see about the other professions and hope nothing will get nerfed in a bad way.

Keep in mind, though, that the new stat combo available in Lake Doric gear is probably playing a role in all of this. They might have created that in regard of the upcoming changes (although I can’t think of any useful implementation yet).
