It stands for erotic role play. Essentially sex talk while pretending to be your character.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

I think too many oversexed outfits is silly for either gender, but medium armor for sure has way too many bulky looking pieces and not nearly enough skimpy stuff.

Besides, it’s the 21st century – if either sex is objectified then both should be.

There wouldn’t be lefty archers in those days. Even if you were naturally left-handed you’d be retrained to fire righty.

Crimson, my comment of erp’ing comes from the many posts made on this subject in the other threads wanting revealing armour. It is not so much the armour in and of itself, but the reason many want it (not all). It was only my opinion, I respect others opinion and was naive enough to expect the same. For my part I dont care if they add it or not really, I only care that they add my bunny ears!

Don’t mean to sound snarky, but would you be able to quote/link posts that suggest that players want skimpy armour sets just for ERP?

I’ve done a quick google, and have drawn a blank. I know there have been plenty of similar threads to this one, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a post that suggested that somebody wanted the armour so they could ERP more easily.

The majority of responses want it for variety’s sake, or to match what’s available for female humanoids.

EDIT: Lol Flesh, you took the words right out of my mouth!

and they were all drooly and sticky too.

And no, I’m not going to erp with you about it.

ok so this is why i do not let my pets see me playing this . my cat is the worst one for the drooling can not understand why :P

that Dreamer outfit in the gem shop was pretty neat, tbh.

I’d like the Dreamer outfit a lot more if not for the creepy face mask on the crotch. :P

Many alts; handle it!

Female player here who wouldn’t mind a few more revealing armors for her guy toons. Why not? Not in to ERP, never have been…but love the hell out of fashion wars!

Can see it now, “Flaming Banana Hammock Of Doooom!” The first in the Lord Farren Jungle line of adventure ware. Heck with a huuuge fire aura it is sure to be a big hit …ANet take note :P

here here very well said and fashion wars and the Flaming Banana Hammock Of Doooom and all with Lord Farren Jungle now that would be making the game even more fun to play !!!

If ArenaNet do a Cantha expansion, they could do some crossover outfits with the title Blade and Soul which is also under the NCsoft banner. A lot of really awesome looking outfits; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TR-SUjkP4bk

we women would go into battle in high heals and a teddy. why not the men too what is good for the goose is good for the gander too .

I’m all for skimpier male armour options but my guys would definitely look like gooses if they had to wear that!

Fire up the Hyperbowl ma, we’re going to town!

Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?

Anet has pretty much thrown out the manifesto with hot so I am all for them putting in skimpy outfits for all. Just tell the suits in charge of game decisions that slooty clothes will make them a metric ton of molla. If they need armor skins like these, rip them from blade and soul if you have to; just send a memo about this with the sound of cash registers to NCsoft and I am sure they will oblige.

Sure go ahead, makes little difference here. A-net knows sex sells. And I’m not disagreeing I’ve got quite a few female toons that dress trashy*he he he*. And If lord faren with his sexual inuendo’s is anything to go off by. A-net seems to be okay with this to some extent. Besides the female armour is really not that oversexualised really. often the legs, abdomen and cleavage is exposed. the rest is ampily covered up. But you don’t see them wearing thongs, nipple rings, nipple tassels or some kitten. And basically only wear undergarments.

If you wanna see some legs. then often the torso is a bit more covered up while still sexy. They just have to balance it out a bit more. Like they Always have imo.

No, this is horrid. Stop trying to turn an mmorpg into soft alternative porn. The skimpy feminine armour is stupid enough, like we women would go into battle in high heals and a teddy. Take your erp’ing elsewhere.

Well, to be fair to the people who request this stuff, it’s the art designers (whoever makes the final calls) who sets the stage for this stuff in MMOs. We get avatars with perfect hollywood bodies, perfect hollywood faces, perfectly styled hair, and then we get a hunk of ugly metal to wear that destroys the aesthetic. Or a hunk of ugly leather, or cloth.

It should be no surprise that some people want armor that highlights the hollywood look, rather than hiding it like some kind of “in need of a makeover” geek character in one of those “geek girl is actually super hot” movies.

People aren’t really asking for anything more than what is already there. They just want to be able to see it better. In fact, I’m of the opinion that some of the best armors are tastefully revealing or simply figure-hugging – as in, much like a well-designed website, the eye sees what was meant to be seen and forgets the rest.

Too many armors in this game are (at least to my eyes) antithetical to that. Rather than accentuating the framework of beauty that is already there, they detract from it by hiding it behind elaborate geometrical shapes that don’t even look like much of anything unless you’re zoomed in farther than the camera can go.

Example: Sorcerer’s Pants for human female. Really a very beautiful, elaborate design if you look closely, but from the distance that most of us are going to be viewing from when we play, it looks like someone attached a curtain to a pair of panties and snapped some pieces of metal onto it, too, for reasons that philosophers are still trying to figure out. God knows how the whole thing stays up. It’s like a cape with holes in it.

Doesn’t even make much sense and instead of accentuating, it sort of says, “Well if you look at the right angle, kind of, when the wind blows, there’s something under there I think. Not sure what it is exactly, but it’s probably sexy… right? I’m just gonna assume it’s sexy.”

Honestly, the more I think about it, the more I wonder if the art team for armor suffers from spending too much time zoomed in on the polygons, not thinking about how it’s going to look in the actual game.

Or words to that effect.
