How odd, I don’t find it hard to do the daily zone event completions on any map with my main, but perhaps that’s because I always turn my Content Guide on when doing this particular daily(Disable Personal Story), and then I just go to what ever event happens to be nearby. If it finishes before I reach it, just go to the next one, as well as hop around to those select areas that I know have repeatable events. It’s not that annoying, I just use the time running around to gather materials along the way.
A very positive way to look at it.
Doesn’t mean it’s not indicative of poor design, but you’re making the best of it.
Are you aware you can complete your daily within 15 min or less in pvp?
There are those of us who do NOT want to do PvP.-
then it is only those people’s choice to limit their options
there is 12 dailies total and you need to do only 3 of them, if you narrow your options only to one tab (no matter which) you have no right to complain because you CHOSE not to participate or try other things
Meaningful choice is only choice among options I want to do – and IMO PvP/WvW and PvE are different to a degree that one shouldn’t assume if you like the one you’ll like the other as well.
It would be equally silly to claim I haven’t the right to complain about the current status of a profession because there are seven others I can choose from.
It’s a game, it’s supposed to be fun for the player – and if ANet decides SD should be a location for a Daily event and then you get there and see people venting their frustration in map chat (and honestly, in my experience that only happens in SD but reliably every time) then they should fix it, otherwise their game has failed its purpose in that instance.
Dear ArenaNet,
If you are not using the metrics of these zone event completion dailies to figure out how to best do proper upscaling for all events in the core content, I will be highly disappointed.
If you are not using the metrics of these zone event completion dailies to figure out which events get bugged and why, I will be highly disappointed.
If you are not using the metrics of these zone event completion dailies to figure out where best to add new events so that zones won’t run out of events during these zone event completion dailies, I will be highly disappointed.
Stop disappointing me, ArenaNet. I don’t want to be disappointed in you.
<hr>On an aside, I love the zone event dailies. I’ve seen so many events that I’ve never been able to see before because I couldn’t solo their precursor event (for example, the largos event chain in Malchor’s Leap where if you fight a champion but if the largos ‘dies’ the event fails – I never knew before that event is followed by an escort event where you and the largos help quaggan flee north). Please do not change the zone events into region events.
If anything, just remove the starter zones (1-15 maps) and maybe the 15-25 maps (Snowden Drifts, Kessex Hills, Brisban Wildlands, and Diessa Plateau). I can see how a full day of zerging in those starter maps where events are far too easy to complete can result in a bad experience for new players. But higher maps, keep it individual.

absolutely not, you bought the game with pve, pvp and wvw in one box, if you don’t want to participate in any of those it is only your choice, yet the choice is still there; and even within pve dailies you have 4 options so you can complete another one if you want to stay “pure”
and again – they should make it region specific, we had this before and ppl were cool with it

I didn’t realize that the fact that I bought the game with PvE, PvP and WvW didn’t mean that it would expand my choice but restrict my choice.
And to stay in your line of argument – no they shouldn’t make it region specific, if you don’t like it zone specific go play PvP but don’t complain, nobody cares…
The level of acceptance of current daillies is individually dependend so you can’t mathematically prove that dailies 1-3 are “natural way of gameplay” while others are not because everyone plays different.
And my point stands. Just because some ppl refuse to try/complete other dailies doesn’t mean those options are not there. This is self limiting choice those ppl did and it’s their fault. WvW, PvP, PvE, dungeons/fractals – those are all parts of the same game and those players can explore them equally. They chose not to. Why should anyone care?
However I agree that map specific dailies should be region specific.
I think region specific would fix this particular issue, at least to some degree. I still dislike the message, "We’ve tweaked dailies so that PvP and WvW players can get theirs in “their” preferred mode. However you PvE people might have to go to PvP or WvW if you don’t want to mindlessly click a vista, do the daily events with horrid gameplay or do fractals (etc.) because we don’t need to entice more people into PvE." The hidden message is, “We haven’t got a clue how to make WvW/PvP appealing to anyone except those who are already inclined to go there.”
For me, it’s not about sticking to one mode, it was about fixing the dailies to some degree in PvP and WvW while making the PvE tasks into really silly, boring crap. Now, maybe some players thought they were silly, boring crap before. However, if the best one can say about the PvE tasks now is they take less time, what does that say about the system?

I’m not complaining, I’m proposing a change for those qq-ing in this thread
Before, dailies were region specific and ppl were playing instead of posting.
Your choices of dailies expanded after last daily patch. Now only players are limiting themselves with virtual barriers of pve, pvp, wvw. It’s players choice and fault, not anets.
Better luck next time.
Toodles.
Your choices of dailies expanded after last daily patch.
You are incorrect. There were 12 before, there’s 12 now. The choices for PvP tasks expanded from 2 to 4 and for WvW-specific tasks from 2 to 4. Tasks that could be finished in PvE contracted from 8 to 4.
I don’t ever have any problems. It takes less than 5 minutes to do the daily for that map. What do you expect when u follow the zerg and rush every waypoint that’s linked? Learn which events spawn where. make an effort.
In other words, treat it like a job. Memorize what events spawn where and when. Don’t be exploring around, finding events as you explore (since that will only get you to events as they are ending). You’re not doing this for fun! Make an effort!
Bleh.
Before they ruined the event dailies I found the event dailies by exploring around. For fun you know. Crazy, wasn’t ’it.
Not like a job. Like a game. Where you have to learn things to do them. Not be handed to you on a silver platter. Make an effort.
Oh, please. It’s hardly difficult to figure out where events spawn and hang around those spots till they do.
Exactly. Hate the player, not the game. If you’re there for the start your chances of getting credit are pretty darngood because you won’t be competing with others who, just as OP implies, rush TO the event. Ever since I made the effort to type the 18 characters of “/wiki Snowden Drifts” and made the effort to find which events spawn where I have had ZERO frustration with that map.

You are misunderstanding completely what the problem is. It’s not the getting to the events and getting the events done. That’s easy enough for a level 80. I was getting them done in less time with the new system than what it took for me to wander around and find them with the old system.
It’s that the events are not fun when there so many all trying to tag the few, weak mobs. Instead of DOING the events, I was tagging a couple of mobs then stopping so others could get credit. Then leaving before it’s over to tag the next event. It’s the unpleasant urgency to get the tag amongst a horde of people all trying to tag. It’s being in a map with low level people and hearing how frustrated they get when they can’t reach the events in time, they can’t tag the mobs when surrounded by so many level 80s. It’s the difference between leisurely exploring and finding and instead, doing the events in the daily “rush hour” with everyone irritable because they are all crowded on the same map and competing for the same few mobs.
It’s the difference between doing it for fun and doing it as an unpleasant job surrounded by unhappy people. And so I stopped doing them until they make them region wide, not map specific. That’s all that needs to be done to fix the problem.

Maybe that doesn’t bother you. But it bothers me, intensely.

I would say that is a symptom rather than the real problem. There are event scaling issues all over place. Event contribution is also fairly broken. Maybe it’ll get fixed in HoT but I am not holding much hope for that.
chuck and fleshwound , you two sound as though you’re married. but from what i get:
a) Some of the events are bugged every time I visit (Ramsey escort), the map is large relative to event frequency,
b) most events are finished within seconds and generally bring out the worst in player behavior, with down leveled players using powerful AOE attacks on mobs which more or less instakill them, making it sometimes impossible to get a tag for a kill, even if you were there at the event.
these are the two points being assessed by Bolkovon and Chucks answer:
If you’re there for the start your chances of getting credit are pretty darngood because you won’t be competing with others
would suffice to solve B. Fleshwound you seem to be making up your own thread inside of this one and have yet to be on topic. and neither of you have mentioned problem A.
