Spot the Karka
ANet, is shooting up through the ledge the intended way to kill the one in the flower bed?
We’re not supposed to do most of the new JP and then abandon it to reach that ledge, are we?
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
this was the first time i had good reason to use my first-person mode
Is it just me or is this karka hunt asinine? They are hidden in the such oblivious places that you are forced to use the dulfy guide if you don’t want to spend the rest of your life hunting 50 karka down. Really A-net? what is the sense in that? no skill, no clever thinking, just follow a guide. I am truly disappointed.
Well people had to find them all and kill them all for there to be a guide on Dulfy.
Given Gaile made this post I think the intent was for this to be a collaborative event for the community, find them all and share it with each other.
After all the rage, all I’m left with is.. relief. And 200 ore’s worth of not-so-bad loot.
It will be worth the new “look it up on Dulfy” troublesome checklist, but from a game design perspective, a good portion of this was a botch.
The three in the only-at-night tavern? For that, when people send cookies as thanks, I’m hoping they’re rye-raisin and burnt on the bottom. -_-#
I get having little secret pockets in the new city. It was fun to run across them while I was dutifully marking off check boxes. There’s a lingering “but…” about it that I can’t quite qualify.
But hey, thanks to the community for finding all those annoying karka!

Or you could have just looked at the hints that were provided for each Karka in the Achievement panel.. Idk

If it’s possible to do that (haven’t tried the JP yet) then I assume that is actually the right way. The method shown in guides thus far is pretty plainly an exploit. I was wondering about this myself.

It is. I met someone playing a ranger that got up there that way.
Sadly, the only mesmer nearby was me, on the ground. Had our places been reversed, I would have parked my character there and made portals every now and then so people could shoot the kittened thing.
I tried to do the JP to get there, but I’m not the best at them and even with portals for risky parts, I messed up and fell off. I didn’t want to start all over again.

I would guess around 10 of those hints refer to locations that are themselves hidden, cannot actually be found except by poking into every corner, and at least 2 hints are completely wrong (the location is obvious, but the karkas aren’t there, they’re in some unrelated place). You would know this if you had actually tried finding these on your own…
I find it fun to do, spent big part of the night trying to find it, and I got only 30 right now. You dont need to follow a guide, you just need some patience and good ears. A few are tricky and can be tricky in the future. I only found out about the one where you have to go inside from other people standing in front of the door.
Still fun to do, will try to do the rest tonight and perhaps tomorrow..
It’s really these small things to do in cities that could make a fun night, i hope these kind of small mini things are more often in the game.
I feel bad for my partner, she not very good at jumping puzzle so atm, she has 6 blocked for her, cause of that.

Actually, only four are blocked behind jumping. Two of them are only after falling.

lol, that true, but to get to them, requires jumping puzzle so technically it 5, lol.

Find a friendly memser. Just ask in map chat for some help.
Ask a mesmer doing the Troll’s Revenge jumping puzzle if after they’ve finished one round of that jumping puzzle if they wouldn’t mind porting your partner through Sharkmaw as needed.
If she wants to do that first fall on her own, even with a mesmer helping with the jumping parts, have her at least temporarily trait the fall damage reduction trait.
Why do I have to violently murder the Karka instead of coddle them close to keep them safe? :<
You should add two open world PvP Factions. Karka Protectors and Karka Destroyers.
I would also like to build a Theme Park on Southsun Island.
This was great fun, and took enough effort that I felt accomplished at the end! I have been too lazy to make mawdrey but loved this. I did find sharmaw kind of buggy, I would be running through and just insta-die randomly from no apparent source of damage. I probably had to go through that JP like 20 times to get them. I was definitely frustrated but it paid off in the end! Great fun, ty! And please don’t just sell princess for 10g…

my speakers were flipped around i had the left one on the right side , right one on the left side . . . i kept looking the wrong direction
thx Anet i had a blast with this event have them all
There are hints on how to find the karka. I found 40 of them before realizing this, wandering around and listening for the sound they make. It was fine even without the hints.
Use the hints and quit whining, kitten .

I was able to do all but a couple without referring to dulfy. Read the clues and listen for the sounds.
Man, people will complain about ANYTHING. I did this entire thing without the Dulfy guide and had zero issues. And, I might add, it was a blast! But then again gamers these days just want to have everything handed to them instead of being challenged and having to work for it.
I love this kind of thing and hope to see more stuff like it, well done Anet!

Find a guide, it sounds like a few of you are still doing it and need mesmer help. If anyone here can help these folks, step up. I know there are mesmers who do Sharkmaw daily – finding the Karka in the JP isn’t terribly awful with a guide there to help you and portals to avoid the falls.
Forever known as “that slow guardian who can’t jump worth crap”.
Thanks for a fun adventure found all but 1 myself couldent for the life of me find the house with the view i thought the area was the harbor not western ward =)
I had great fun with this
The scuttling sound effect made it a lot more fun than previous treasure hunts have been, because I knew when one was nearby, it was just a question of searching… and the individual clues on the achievement page was a fantastic feature, needed them for the last few, but never needed to consult an actual guide at all, which is pretty close to perfect for a treasure hunt imo
That was fun. Completed it with guildmates. Fun times bonding over search. Hats off to dev team and the Dulfy. Great times were had by all. Looking forward to more in the future.
