Hey I was wondering how feasible it would be to create a guild for the sole purpose of using the guild bank as extra storage for my 4 family members that play.

I have no idea at what level you would get a bank or anything. Is it just not practical?

I’m not sure how it is now, because of the guild hall locking away content in tiers.
But before it was very viable to use it as extra bank space for you and friends.

You can get 50 slots right away. The rest are likely unobtainable for you as the next tier requires a guild level of 20.

It will cost 50 gold and 1000 favour to unlock a 50 slot guild bank and you don’t need a guild hall to do it, I don’t think you need to be a specific level either. The other upgrades are more expensive. You can get more info on the Wiki.

Favour will be the tricky part as that only comes from completing guild missions, so it might take you a while to collect enough. It can be done though.

A few things to think about however:

Free accounts cannot use guild banks. Even if they’ve set up two-factor authentication and been in the game and the guild for months they will never be able to access it.

Account bound and soul bound items cannot be stored in a guild bank at all, which limits it’s usefulness as extra storage space.

Arenanet will not help you if another guild member ‘steals’ an item. As far as Anet are concerned all items in a guild bank belong to the entire guild and anyone with permission to withdraw items is allowed to take anything and everything out and do whatever they want with it. Any rules you agree amongst yourselves don’t matter.

So if one family member decides to ‘borrow’ another family members items and ‘accidentally’ soul binds/salvages/deletes them you’ll have to work it out between you.

None of which are reasons you shouldn’t do it, just thinks to be aware of as they may limit the usefulness.

As Danikat mentions, Favor will be the main gate toward creating a guild bank.

A starting guild will have access to 1 mission for each difficulty level (easy, medium, hard). Many of the possible easy level missions should be able to be completed by a small guild with as few as 3 to 5 players participating. Completing the easy mission will reward 300 favor. After 4 weeks of completing easy missions, the guild will have enough to unlock the 50 slot guild vault.

To earn more favor per week, you can also try higher level missions. However, larger numbers of players will likely be needed to tackle medium or hard level missions. On the other hand, a small guild may be able to get help from other players or guilds to complete some of those. Rushes are one of the examples where you may be able to start the mission and then leverage the help of other players on the map who also complete the rush.

If you have 5 people (4 family members plus you), then it’s definitely possible. You can do easy and medium difficulty guild missions with ease. It will be slower than big guilds, but you can definitely get it done.

Be prepared to work a little harder for it than before HoT, but even without a hall you can have a 50 slot bank. if your family unit is 4+ players, you could easily claim a hall and slowly upgrade it for an even larger bank (as well as having a private space to decorate and all that jazz)
