There are people asking for less o.0?!

I think the OP is misunderstanding some topics in this forum.

Some players are asking for a game less focused on rewards, and more focused on fun content that players would play for the sake of having fun, as opposed to play in order to get gold/karma/whatever.

Some players cannot understand this concept, especially MMORPG players. But it’s pretty much what people do in real life – we go watch a movie because we like the experience of watching a movie. Not because we will be paid 1 dollar for each movie we watch.

Eh, I think both.

I ask for less rewards in some instances, like the current Orr debacle. Its profitable to the point that it could deal long term damage to the economy, and reward structure of the game, and when the game feels unrewarding to play, people will just leave, and that isn’t good for the health of the game.

Of course people want more stuff. Why do you think Obama got voted in twice?

It’s awfully shortsighted. Casual mammaries don’t have the “right” to a legendary. That’s the entire PvE endgame there. It’s flimsy, but it is what it is. you’ll just have to farm for it like everybody else.

The Badges of jumping were bad enough. PvE bads didn’t even have to play WvW to get the WvW gift of battle, and now they don’t even have to do that because the stupid achievement chests give out hundreds of the things for doing R-turdedly easy PvE dailies.

Mammaries are breasts. Of course they don’t have the right to a legendary.

No one has a “right” to a Legendary, and increasing gold gains across the board won’t help you get your Legendary any quicker. Everyone else will have more gold as well, which means they’ll be willing to spend more on what they need to craft one, which means the prices will go up dramatically, which means it will take the same amount of time to get it as before except gold will be worth less.

Except of course gold gains were not increased. Valuable drops were improved. This has exactly opposite effect – everything becomes cheaper.

You don’t get “heaps of gold” from vendoring stuff, nor do you get that much directly from drops. Most of it is gained from selling things on TP – which means it is being shuffled around.

Yes.. Yes… The 15% listing fee is a lie. Where did gold to put up items come from?

Lol, you do realize, that this 15% fee actually means that the mats and new skins farming removes gold from the game?

Yeah, wouldn’t it be nice if the devs added a t6 farm for each of the upcoming events to bring some of the prices down? Like say the next one was blood.

I don’t understand the ‘mammaries’ thing either but both ways of thinking confuse me. I come from other MMOs and spRPGs, a lot of others. I really don’t see any reward system in this game after leveling, at all. RPG rewards are supposed to make your characters stronger, look different and/or provide utility.

No one raided BWL until their plants died for an Ashkandi, just because they thought it looked cool. They did it to crack it over mobs and other player’s heads! I, personally would never spend any amount of time on something like a ‘legendary’ in this game, seriously. It provides my character with zero, nothing, nada; that I couldn’t just buy from the AH. I think they are very pretty, but the whole game is pretty! I would gladly reskin a weapon with a legendary, but I would put the effort for such a thing as a ‘skin’ at no more then about 10 hours at most and would rate it around a 2/10 as an accomplishment for an RPG. The character has no new utility and is not stronger for the effort.

Maybe it’s art for art’s sake, but it really feels like slapping a giant price tag on a ‘72 Volvo and then saying something like, "But, look at the lines, it’s a classic!"

I’m gonna get flamed for this, but I actually wish they hadn’t jacked up the rewards in this game. Back near launch precursors cost like 60g, and 60g really meant a lot. All you’re doing by increasing rewards is adding zeros to the end of things. The value of the precursor is the same, but now it’s read as 600g instead. At this rate, next year everyone will be rolling with 6000g. And by the way, the whole idea of a legendary was for it to be meaningful and unique. It’s not meaningful or unique if everyone in the game has one.

No, adding zeros is a result of increasing gold income. Increasing nonmonetary rewards decreases their value.
If you can farm the item faster than you can farm the gold for it, the price will go down.
Precursors are still priced high only because all the known ways to obtain them are either really hard, or very costly. Or both.

Well yeah, but inflation happens. That’s what I meant. If they continue to inject more ways to get gold faster, people will get more and more gold… and thus.. have more… and thus having 60g becomes a drop in the bucket, whereas it used to mean a hell of a lot. If everyone has this ton of cash, they can splurge it on rare skins, gear, and legendaries, and thus all of the essence of what makes those things special disappears because everyone in the game has it.

oh no no, limited supply. Once supply dries up, price will shoot through the roof. Those 60g will buy nothing after hyperinflation take hold.

As long as the supply increases faster than the gold, which is currently the case, we don’t have to fear that.
