inb4threadlock.

I’m primarily a PVEr, and imo PvP, and WvW, are due for a massive influx of developer attention. They’ve been short changed for so long that I’m really impressed that so many players are still playing those modes.

Catering to 1 aspect of the game has 1 result, and only 1, all the other modes are killed off and players who play those modes mostly will leave. The flow on effect from that will be those players spreading word that the maker of the game doesn’t care about <insert game mode> and that people shouldn’t play it as it’s full of <insert derogatory term> who only play <insert game mode that is being catered for>.

Throw everyone a bone every now and again and the makers will keep most of their player base. Throw out some meat and more will join in.

I don’t have a problem with them adding new PvP rewards into the game. I don’t even care that they are exclusive to PvP.

The problem is that it took them 2 years to implement new in-game armors and they spent those precious resources on PvP which is not where the majority of players spend their time.

Additionally they are giving away $150,000 for a PvP tournament. just giving it away. That money could go into us getting us a new race, or new zones, or new weapons. But nope, it’s going to an unpopular poorly implemented part of the game. It isn’t even going to try and make PvP better, they are just trying to bribe people into playing a poorly designed unliked part of the game.

That money and those resources would have impacted many more players if it had been used to design armor for ALL aspects of the game, but it is being wasted on something that most players don’t care about.

Dear Anet,

Please get your head out of the clouds. This game is not an Esport and will never become one. The vast majority of people play this game for the PvE aspect of the game.

Over 3 million PvE players have been begging you for new ingame armor sets for almost 2 full years. We have gotten none.

Now you are implementing a PvP armor set that can only be obtained by winning tournaments in tPvP mode? There are currently <1000 players who actively participate in tPvP.

3,000,000 > 1000. Please re-evaluate your priorities.

Thank you.

Youre wrong.

The game flopped (as in couldve been a lot bigger) in both PvE and PvP.

- The potential of PVE in this game is relatively limited due to the absense of the holy trinity. Endgame mechanics will remain limited and mini game esque due to this. Think about it like this: who in his right mind refers to GW2 as a game with real decent end game content.

- The potential of PvP however is a lot better. The lack of the holy trinity means a faster and more reaction based playstyle with a lot of focus on movement and rotations, which is ideal for pvp.

The only thing that lacked for pvp where resources and attention from the devs. Seasons, proper ladders, rewards etc.

I am really jealous of the weapons that were given to the tournament winners, but you know what…I think it is great! It shows that these guys accomplished something! We NEED MORE items that can only be gotten through exclusive content not less. Heck I only run around with my fractal weapons since they are rarer in this game than legendaries and I always get asked about them.

I had never played PvP until recently and the bit I have played pretty much confirmed it’s not something I enjoy.

But I don’t mind PvP exclusive rewards (in fact I’d say it’s long overdue) as long as it’s something everyone can earn. Which the armor set from the title track is – anyone can get it, they just have to play PvP matches with that track active to do it.

The one from the tournaments is not. Only a limited number of them will be available and it sounds like there’s going to be quite specific requirements for who can enter the tournaments where they’re given away.

The silly thing about it though is from what I’ve seen on the PvP forum the people who could earn it don’t actually want it. It’s gotten a better reaction than the mini llama (which is a ridiculous thing to use as a PvP reward) but it’s apparently still not right. The best suggestion I’ve seen is a monument somewhere in-game which records who won which tournaments, their scores etc. like there was in GW1.

I got to wonder if the PvPers are the ones living in a fantasy world talking all the smack about PvE. Yes, I know GW turned into a PvPer’s paradise of build configurations but GW2 isn’t GW, it was meant to have a real PvE, open world (meaning content isn’t instanced) MMO experience. Just not a WoW clone experience.

LOL – have you read the LORE of the game? I think not. From GW Wiki LORE…

" Throughout the centuries, the continent of Tyria found itself in constant warfare. The multiple Guild Wars raged across human lands – constantly ending and starting again, creating a series of wars between Humans. In all these years, not much aside from the constant wars and temporary times of peace existed. However, nearly two hundred years prior to the Searing, a powerful arcanist known simply as Lord Odran sought to reach into the unknown, and in doing so, by sacrificing many souls, found access to the Hall of Heroes. Though the spirits were outraged at Odran’s intrusion on the land they had paid to access with their life and blood, they could do nothing against beings of the living. For years, Odran explored the Rift and the many worlds, placing his portals in deadly locations and concealing them with spells. Until one day, the spirits of the Rift found a way to harm that which was corporeal and when Odran returned to the Rift they tore his body apart. In doing so that which they hated most came to pass as the spells of protection and concealment over Odran’s portals were removed and mortals gained free access to the Hall of Heroes. "

You can GvG, in OS and any other WvW or make your own PvP arena for it. No one is stopping you. Just because it is not a little ARENA all your own, does not mean it is NOT in the game.

PvE gets updates every 2 weeks and you still whine. PvP hardly gets updates. Go cry elsewhere.

Which is exactly how it should be because NO ONE ACTUALLY PVP’S IN THIS GAME.

There are currently 8-10 different dry top maps FULL of players…

It takes me 10 minutes just to find 8 players to play a single sPvP match with…

The players have spoken, the devs just aren’t listening.

No one actually PvPs in this game, huh? Says who? I am not an avid PvPer, I am guaranteed to get a match when I just pick a server as opposed to just relying on the queue alone. As for players have spoken, what basis do you have?

You have no real evidence that the game could have been a lot bigger if it had the holy trinity. For each person who likes the holy trinity there’s another who can’t stand it. But this is one of the only games that doesn’t have it. If you added it, it would just be one amount dozens of others, rather than one that a niche could find a home in.

Wildstar has a trinity, good combat and good dungeons from all reports, but it’s not doing that well. A lot of people are just tired of the trinity. In any event, the place in this game what would have benefited most from the trinity is probably PvP. But for PvE, it wouldn’t have benefited. It would have been the same circus in every game.

People spamming looking for tank and healer, waiting an hour to do content, and then wiping when they find out the healer they had or the tank they had sucked. No thanks.

Most people don’t do dungeons or instances in most games, they just bang around the open world. You don’t have to believe it, but that doesn’t make it wrong.

How they prioritize PvP? They add new PvE content every 2 weeks while PvP only get new content on feature packs. I haven’t seen a new PvP map for a long time.

Also PvE is already pointless after a point because of the game mechanic. You can’t get more power/powerful items by playing PvE(after you get all BiS), but you can improve your own skills by playing PvP.
They have to add vertical progression to PvE to give old players a point to play. But this won’t happen because of Gw2’s special situation. At this point living story and features are the only way to improve PvE story. Otherwise, new dungeons or raid system can’t save PvE without having a vertical item progression. It would be pointless to grind them.
This is why WvW and PvP is the endgame.

People seem to be conveniently ignoring all the PvP focus that this game has gotten. They make it sound like PvP is some ignored aspect of the game that is finally getting attention… Lets put some perspective on this…

PvE Balance Patches: 0
PvP Balance Patches: 10

PvE Maps added since release: 2
PvP Maps added since release: 6

PvE Exclusive Armors*: None
PvP Exclusive Armors: Tribal, Hero’s, Glorious Hero’s
*ALL armors were obtainable in PvP, MUCH easier than in PvE up until 4 months ago when Anet removed that ability. Another example of Anet’s backwards priorities. They actively removed the content and ability to do this. However the majority of PvP players have already unlocked most of the PvE armor skins using that system.

This whole idea that PvP is some ignored feature of the game that is finally getting some love is absurd. PvE players would LOVE to have some balance and maps added, but all those resources go directly to PvP.

No new ingame armor sets you say?

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ascended_armor

Not to mention the numerous pve LS meta rewards. Scarlet’s headgear, gauntlets, that hideous shoulder thing, etc.

U find ascended armor nice? For people that have been playing 2 years, and only have dungeon/cultural armor to choose from, in a game which is made for the appearence, isnt so great.
U can get dungeon armor in 1 month, maybe less. And if u dont like legendary weapons, what else is there to get at endgame? We simply need something to go for, a goal!

Example; ascended dungeon armors: 1000-2000 dungeon tokens/fractal relics for 1 piece (which looks unique), it may be a grind to get, but atleast it’s something. And u get something nice, from doing dungeons, after doing them so many times (like AP; 3k-6k,…)

I’m just giving an example, but stuff like this is needed to keep players here. When i login i only see 1/4th of my friends online, compared to 6 months ago. People want rewards for effort, which is lacking atm.

1-2k dungeontoken for one piece? More like 10-20k^^
I needed ~20 insignias for 400-500 crafting, thats 40(assuming ~50% chance of blk)* 180 token~7200 token. Not counting the money/time/laurels/karma/… to make ascended armour itself…
