[Suggestion] Hide outfit headwear & show gear
There is already an option to disable headwear on outfits. I do wish we could use our main helms instead of the outfit helms, though.
When wearing a costume, click on your regular helm to show or not show. This will cause the costume headwear to show or not show. Your helm won’t ever show. You will be either bareheaded or wearing the costume headwear.

Whoops, I meant to edit that bit out and change it. -shuffles away awkwardly-
But yeah. Showing gear instead of outfit for head wear is where I was going.
I second this suggestion. Many town clothes headwear items have been converted to regular armor options. Why not the opposite, by enabling the ability to display your regular armor headgear while wearing an outfit from the neck down?
The reason mix-and-match was disabled for outfits was because of clipping issues between light/medium/heavy/outfit skins. However, merely the fact that all the glasses and funny hats can now be combined with regular armor shows that these clipping issues do not exist with headgear.
It seems pretty doable. I ended up glitching the hero panel into showing my characters glasses while in the ancestral outfit today as well (it turns out that outfit doesn’t even have headwear). That’s one of the things that made me go “well why not have that feature?”
If they can do it, that would be great. I know I could wear a seaparate headpiece from the costume in Guild Wars 1. I often wore a costume with my halo. You could even wear the halo with a tonic
Rabbit tonic and halo.
He means trying to show your regular armor head piece while wearing an outfit. Like having your glasses or fuzzy hat show while wearing the Ancestral Outfit.
I agree that we should have the option to show our regular head gear on outfits, or at least have the gem store head gear skins be able to skin over an outfit head piece. I would have bought some of those outfits had I been able to wear my Wide Rim Glasses with them. Would love to see this change!

Mentioned this in another thread, meow.
I bought it to escape male medium skirts and trenchcoats, it still looks cool though, but becomes more important when it’s literally the only slim-fitting skirt-less outfit/armor available to male Sylvari. Would buy plenty more like this.
To me it doesn’t seem too horribly difficult to mix things when they have the hide function working entirely. They could turn that into a decent enough fix till something better was found possible. When I first put the costume on and hit the head toggle my Headband showed up on my character with the costume (the head piece thief starts with). Unfortunately it was a bug, as I thought for a second this outfit was unique and allowed use of any headpiece. Anyways, they could add a button/s that could allow armor pieces to show through instead of costume parts.
Something like; Hide Outfit Helm and Show currently equipped Armor Helm, Hide Outfit Pants for currently equipped Armor Pants, and etc. Add a ‘potential clipping’ warning if you must since some things might, but a lot of things wont at all. Some costumes have leg/body connected~ well that could be fixed with some effort. This one specifically might be body+pants from the looks of it and considering it isn’t a full outfit like the others.
It’d have no issues whatsoever with head pieces so they should definitely do it for that at least. They should just do it for everything though. :P
To me not being able to at least wear any headpiece is the biggest downfall with the new outfit system more-so than any of the other armor slots, because it’s impossible for any clipping to happen with that slot. …and Hats are awesome. o.o Everyone loves hats. How will you sell super awesome new hats like TF2 does if no one can wear them. =(((
