Indeed they said they would focus on outfits, but skins such as the recent popular wings are still skins. I think reincluding old skins that are already there is fine, ‘policies’ ruin fun for players far too many times. Players want them, just give it to them. A man from a different company said something along the lines a few months ago ‘if you make your players happy they will keep playing and keep paying’. Why is it so hard to re-release this item, even just temporarily? It is just one item that does no harm.

It says “For example, armor sets are now exclusively designed as in-game rewards while outfits are primarily Gem Store offerings.” It states sets, not skins in general.

It also describes this as their working philosophy during LS2, which would jive with the Carapace set but it also when the Mordremoth gloves, hat, and shoulders were in the store.

I can definitely agree that no more armor sets will be added but there’s little to imply that this extends to all stand alone armor skins especially considering that back items are essentially armor as well.

In 2013 you could get the ears for 200 Gems. They stopped carrying them in Dec of that year. If you weren’t here to get them oh well too bad so sad. Like a previous poster said they prolly wont bring them back (anytime soon). GAME ON

The fact that this still hasn’t been brought back is incredibly annoying. And the people who don’t know what they’re talking about that keep saying it can’t come back because it was never there to begin with need to stop talking.

Which doesn’t matter as they converted it to an armor skin so people who own it can still use it. What it used to be is pretty irrelevant.

I don’t quite understand ArenaNet’s thought process behind removing them in the first place. Why reduce the amount of enticing products on offer? We’re talking about a virtual store front here, digital goods. By their very nature, they have a endless supply and equally endless amounts of virtual shelving.

If it was to clean up the store inventory a bit, that’s a sorry excuse. There’s ways to categorize things further, based on Outfits, Transmutation Skins, further separated into Head, Hands, Feet, Shoulder, Backpack filtering and so on forth.

I absolutely think they should bring them back, together with the various other items they decided to remove over time. Have sales, but don’t limit availability to try stipulate some artificial sense of urgency. The lowered cost alone during a time limited sales period creates that urgency just fine. By having the goods available at all times, you obviously entice further spending within the Gem Store. There are more things for players to look at, and over time, that one item they may not have wanted way back when, may suddenly become all the more interesting, be that due to new equipment coming out, a new hairstyle/face type, or otherwise. Long term sustained sales, typically beats short term bursts where x amount of players may not be able to scramble together funds in time to purchase them, or are even actively playing, at which point they’ll hang on for a while, hoping for a new sale perhaps, or they’ll be overpowered by their (lack of) patience, and purchase it at its regular pricing.

It goes without saying that you price it at what you intend to gain from it during the sales periods, making the discount semi-artificial, and you bank on inpatient consumers purchasing your goods when they are not on sale, having missed a opportunity, or not being aware of them ever being on sale in the first place. There’s nothing immoral about that if it’s fairly priced. Plus again, digital goods, within a virtual world. There’s no manufacturing costs after development. There’s no shipping costs. The list goes on. I don’t see what ArenaNet possibly has to lose on that.

Clipping issues? That is Anet’s ultimate cop out. Clipping means something looks less than good and the only thing they would clip with is newer hairs as they had no problem working fine when they were a town cloths item.

More profitable? lulwut? There isn’t some magical programing reason this particular game assets can’t be brought back as a hat skin. It exists in the game as a hat skin as is.

The only reason person A has the skin and person B doesn’t is because person A had it as a town clothes item that then got turned into a consumable armor skin item and person B didn’t.

The amount of work it would take to add them to the gem store roster is impossibly small compared to the time it would take to conceptualize and model a costume or even a different hat.

Face it, it’s because Anet doesn’t want them back. Same for the glasses and sun glasses.

And that is a possibility I brought up. In which case this thread is pointless and only gives players a false hope that they could change ANet’s mind. But if this is the case ANet will never definitively tell us those will never return. So they string you all along.

Is it too much to ask to get some dye kits namely Taimi dye kit?

I’ve been saving both cash and gems for the day that particular kit returns and I started during Toxic Alliance deal so my toon is coming up on its second birthday not its third. I’d be more willing to buy other items after I get my dyes if the dye kits that aren’t available currently ever get put back up. I’d rather not have dyes be the last item either knowing that I’ve given up spending cash on other items I’d like waiting for dyes.

It made sense to release all the old weapons skins, keys, and mini pets as people will cling on to there wallets till those come up and be free to spend more liberally afterwards but we still need the missing dye kits to return to loosen more people up.

Oh also I want a mining and harvesting infinite tool in the vain as the Frostwasp tool. Basically an insect/arachnid/bug/wurm themed tool for both mining and harvesting. Also a similar based theme for mail carrier.
