I’ve been kittening and moaning about townclothes since my first post, so I put in a refund ticket for stuff I bought in gemstore, and it was taken care of under a day. Even though I never spent a penny of real money on the gems they made me feel like a valued customer. I got like 6 emails telling me about what they were doing to work on it.
And they even let me keep my tonics!
Thanks guys.
Yeah when ANet goes and changes a feature so dramatically, they tend to do a good job about providing quality customer service for the people who feel cheated out of a product they liked with the old system and not with the new.
I agree.Anet really tries to help people in trouble.I been contacting customer support team twice since the day i bought game and they fixed my issues both times.
Actually those gems they refunded have already been paid, regardless of with you bought it with gold or not. The only way you could have obtained those is for someone to sell their gems for gold in the exchange.
You buying them with gold does not change the fact that someone else already paid for them.

So? He did not spend money on them that is what he was saying. What you are talking about has NO bearing on him.

He was basically stating that they were treating him like a paying customer.
He is a paying customer, because regardless of how he got those gems, ArenaNet made money. Just because he bought them with gold, should not make anyone feel like they are not a paying customer.

AHH – he bought the game – so yes he was a paying customer…..

Thats not his point.
He wouldn’t have been able to buy gems, had someone not exchanged them for gold in the first place. Is his point.
It’s like someone giving you a gift voucher, sure you didn’t pay for it, but you’re still a paying customer.
Except if you were gifted items, you could not receive a refund. =/

he didnt get a refund, he got store credit, which is pretty common for gift voucher refunds.
Ok, wrong wording. If you received, say, an Outfit or Town Clothes as a gift, you were not eligible for a refund, credit, or anything else. Just the way it worked.

You are discounting the fact that while you may not have paid with real world cash, my understanding is, you payed for those gems with in game gold.
In Game Gold represents effort put into the game, time spent. You did something in game theat generated that Gold, so either you put time in, or you used your mind to generate the gold that you then exchanged for gems, that then went into Buying what you bought.
The reason why Anet treated you like a paying customer is, you are a paying customer.
They did not treat you special, because they were jumping all over themselves to treat you In a way you had not earned.
if I had accumulated Gold, that I then turned to Gems, and I spent those gems… and had an issue, I would Not just appreciate being treated like a paying customer, i would demand it.
Why? because " someone else paid for it already"? No….
because I…paid for it.
This isn’t a “Gift Voucher” situation, he did NOT Just log in, and have someone GIFT him the items. He payed for them, with gems he bought with Gold he accrued.
let’s not give Anet TOO much a pat on the back..for doing what they are supposed to do.

Yeah, I’ve been disappointed that there has been no response to many extended forum threads such as the Traits issues, but on one to one customer support I’ve found the service excellent. Very fast, very helpful, and they took all the time that was needed to solve the problem.
