Obviously i’d like balance and bug fixes ASAP though.

One Month would be infinitely better. It’s still fast enough to constantly churn out content, there is more of a buffer zone for completionists, and it would also (forgive me, but it’s true) stretch out content updates so there wouldn’t be some sort of ‘dry streak’ (if even possible).

I have to phrase it like this, from my point of view. I am a peculiar sort of completionist, in that actually having a character WITHOUT a meta event completed or missing something out can drive me up a wall – I get annoyed that I am NOT able to complete something and often stop playing a game or the character all together. In Guild Wars 2, that is less so – but I absolutely KNOW that in the future I WILL miss out on something that I really want, but I love being able to come back and play. I’m half arsed training myself already to be disappointed by not completing the Sky Pirates meta (Thankfully, GW2 already freed me from my ‘catch ’em all’ minipets obsession with the expensive market and mega limited time offer pets) or playing much right now….that way I can go “Eh, it’s not a big deal since I’ll never have a FULLY complete character…it’s ok to miss an event!”

Weird, but yeah. I feel like changing the time to longer than two weeks or adding more permanent content instead would be a MASSIVE improvement. I’d like to invite people to play and not have to go…“Well, I’d show you my favorite part of the game but it only happened for two weeks and you can’t do it anymore ever again!”, hahahaha!

Currently we’ve been playing content every month that’s been given 2 months to develop.

No, we’ll be playing content every 2 weeks that’s been given 4 months to develop.

I’m going to go with option 2. It’s best in every way.

A proper expansion with new character classes, a new proper set of zones, you know like the ones we had at launch with a laughable storyline revolving around a dragon…

Fixed* New zones is kind of a bad to be honest, things just need to be executed better, look at WoW the only zones that are populated is the faction capital city’s, main starter zones, max level daily questing area and all other zones are empty.

It would be nice to see all of Tyria though, Woodland Cascades, the Tarnished Coast, Far Northern Shiverpeaks, blood legion homelands so and so forth. It’s bad though to pull whole expansion zones out of your trumpet hole like warcraft did, it only hurts the game in the long run.

Guild Wars 2 is not a sequel to the original Guild Wars but merely an alternative story setting.

Honestly, I don’t want either. But if I have to choose, I’d rather have one month.

I mean, look at it like this. We keep getting these new updates, and they are riddled with bugs and exploits. It’s like as if no one tested this stuff. We get patch after patch to fix what the update broke. I mean, we are still getting patches to fix all the bugs in the last update, and the new update is right around the corner. Say hello to a bunch of new bugs that are going to be keep getting patched over and over.

The updates we are getting are a mess. I mean, when you are still trying to patch out the bugs that the last update did, just before the new update arrives, there is something seriously wrong there.

Now imagine that in a two week timetable. If one month wasn’t enough time to fix all the bugs between updates, then how are two weeks going to be enough time? It is going to be a major bug fest that is going to end up making this game nearly unplayable.

So honestly, I wish they would just stop, take a breather, and fix the game. And then take the time to test these updates fully before releasing them. Quality over quantity is way better in my opinion.

I also find 2 weeks too short an interval for living story updates, 1 month is much better. Between these updates I want more time to rest. I’ve not found the leisure to level up another alt because there is now almost always something to do with my main, on which I do not want to miss out because of playing alts.

Introducing new temporary content every two weeks is fine, as long as said content is around for at least a month so everyone has a chance to do it. Permanent content should be released every four to six months in the form of new permanent dungeons, jumping puzzles, new lands to explore, new pvp maps, new wvw content, and continuation of the personal story. Living story could build up to the release of the permanent content or have nothing to do with it.

Two weeks <3 they now have 4 teams that rotate. So, it gives them enough time. Here’s a rundown.

1week : nothing
2week: team A
3week nothing
4 week: team B
5 week: nothing
6 week: team C
7 week: nothing
8 week: team D
9 week: nothing
10week: team A.

Seems like enough time to me.

even though I like their ambition, a month seems like a more reasonable time frame. Players don´t feel rushed or start planning their private activities around a computer game, the developers don´t risk a creative burn out that fast, not to mention better quality control.

We’re what, one/two updates into the two week update schedule? BotFW, IMO, looks like it will be one of the best updates so far. Yet already you have kittenes here whining, give them a chance at least.

I don’t get all the complaining about not being able to complete 100% of every piece of content. I’ve barely touched this aetherblade update because I don’t care about minis. Does it really matter that I haven’t done every part of the meta achi?

If you want everything then by all means you can run everything. I think I’m going to pick and choosewhat sounds fun to me. Or iI’ll get bored and do it all

One month would be nice, every two or three months would be better. Would be great to have a TON of content that I can do anytime within a two or three month period.

Im just skeptical as to what kind of quality and what volume of content they can squeeze into two week patches. A few bug updates? A few sentences to the living story? A few achievements to go after? A JP? Eh, not enough to keep my interest.

Need dungeons, a release of multiple new zones with renown hearts and DEs, mini dungeons(for solo play that have a lot of story inside), and then all the trimmings of bug fixes, class balances, etc. Need new skills, weapons, skins, gem store items, etc.

I prefer 2 weeks, with small pieces of content to keep people playing but not focusing too much on those release, so they can make a proper expansion pack of Cantha, Elona, Far North or Undergrounds of Tyria.

I like the idea of a living story and I think 2 weeks is a good time table to keep adding to it…but the volume of things to do in the living story updates that we get is so minimal. I can spend one or two days, playing only 2 or 3 hours per day, and get most of it done(i.e. checking off each achievement box).

So I think the Living Story would be fantastic in tandem with actual traditional updates in the form of: Dungeons, zones, renown hearts, dynamic events, new skills, new classes, new races, new systems, bug fixes, balances, additions to wvw and spvp, more fractal maps, new set of fractals.. I think this list is what people want. The story is good and all, and these monthly events are neat..but its really just fluff and not really tangible.

2 weeks is not really enough if the content are bug ridden!

This is going to sounds crazy, but with the way the teams are currently structured there would be less bugs for 2 weeks compared to 1 month. Each team is doing 1 months worth of content, but is splitting it into 2 separate parts. This gives the team more time to polish the 1st half, then, they have 2 extra weeks to polish the 2nd half. If the content was monthly (with this structure) the team would be dumping all their content at once without that leeway room.

I would like a development cycle that would allow them to design, code, test, and deploy quality content of an enduring nature (permanent as opposed to temporary). As a software developer myself, I believe the minimum dev cycle i could envision for this would be 3 months, possibly 2+ months, but I’m going to go with 3.

It’s good to have a new event every 2 weeks. But that event should stay for 4 weeks to be completed.
So 2 events would be active at the same time to complete if you miss the previous one.(for personal reasons etc.)
But for regular players, there would be still new content every 2 weeks. So, I think that would make everyone happy.

This is how I feel too. I don’t really care how often the content drops, but two weeks doesn’t give me enough leeway to complete it. A month would be much better.

This is especially the case if it’s something involving a time commitment and finding a group (like a dungeon) as opposed to single-player instances. If I can do something in, say, half-hour chunks before work, that’s one thing – I’ll probably get it done. If I actually have to sit down with a block of time, including the time it takes me to get a group together as well as run the actual content, it’s a lot less likely that I’ll have time to complete it because I have to arrange my schedule to accommodate it.

2 weeks. Seems pretty crazy to invest in an MMO and not be able to log on at least once every 2 weeks.

It’s not quite that simple, though. I’ve logged in several times in the past two weeks.

I just haven’t had a solid block of time where I could focus on finding a group and doing a dungeon, because of busy work schedule and family commitments.

It’s as I said above… if I’d been able to do an instance or two a night on my own like with the personal story, I’d be done. Because of the way the content is structured, I just haven’t had the time to devote to the Aetherblade stuff – and I’m not sure I’m going to get to, which is disappointing.

That’s for MMO’s with subscriptions. One of the points of subscriptionless MMO’s is that you don’t have to play regularly, after all

I agree with you. If we had quality permanent content every month instead of more frequent living story content, it would be better for this game’s future. I mean, if a player starts this game again after months he won’t find any different contents to play(except currently running living story release ofc) because all of them are temporary. Permanent contents can accumulate, and make gw2 a greater game over time. I don’t think current “temporary” system can replace a good expansion pack for gw2’s favor.
